I Â came here when it first opened a few years ago and I remembered liking it. Then I went here last night and when I was paying for the meal myself I realized yeah this just plain isn't worth the price. They are too pricey for Floral Park!! It feels like they are trying to cater to a Garden City clientele.
If I could I would give this place 2 and 1/2 stars. The service is fine, the bread is good, they play entertaining background music, but when it comes down to it their prices don't match the quality of their food. I had the Country Fried Chicken, it wasn't bad but none of the meal impressed me. It came out hot, I'll give them that. The chicken was fine but the mashed potatoes were just ok and the broccoli might as well been frozen store bought.
The take away is one time was enough.
Negative reviews of this place boggle my mind...
First off, try the tuna tartar tacos. Â LEGEN...wait for it...DARY.
I could eat about 20 of them in one sitting. So Good.
Overall great menu, the Italian Paella is delicious,
Skirt steak and Lamb Chops are grilled to perfection. Â
Lobster Mac & Cheese is super cheesy and will leave you stuffed.
Save room for the Fried Oreos with ice cream
::insert Homer Simpson drooling sound here::
They just started doing a new Raw Bar Happy Hour:
50cent Clams
$1 Oysters
Half Price Drinks
Twist my arm.
Staff/management is attentive and friendly.
You're getting A+ cuisine in a laid back bar&grill atmosphere, which I love. Â
It's true, the portions aren't the biggest, but if you want 5 courses for $19, go to TGIFRIDAYS...Park Place is doing great things!!!
We have been to Park Place two times know. Â First time (few months back we were seated in the rear dining room, nice little small square room maybe accomodates about 25 to 30 pp a little cramped food was good for what it was but going over the menu I was a little confused about the place and did not feel that the place itself had a true identity. Bar? Pub? Restaurant? What type of cuisine am I Actaually eating? Why is everything so expensive and things like wings and tacos are on the menu? Anyway things that we did try were actually pretty good (fish tacos, fried country chicken). Â Decided to go back several months later. Â We were showed to a table by a not so pleasant hostess and were seated in the bar area. Â We asked to sit in the back and she said that they had nothing available. Â When I got out to a restaurant I would like to feel like I am eating at a restaurant. Â The bar had poeple watching sports right on top of us and it was not setting a nice tone for the evening at all. Â Me and my wife shared the coconut shrimp (nothing to write home about) and the Kobe sliders (which I Â was overcooked and doubt was Kobe Beef considering it was only $10.00 when a stuffed mushroom is 13 and A chicken dish is 24. Â I had the Sole oreganata for main couse and my wife had the crispy salmon which she did enjoy. Â The sole oreganata did not seem fresh to me and eveything on the plate lacked seasoning and just seemed to be very warm, not hot. Â The waitress came checked in and I am not one to complain but I did indicate when she asked "is everything alright"? that things were just okay. Â She was busy and just replied okay enjoy and walked away. Â Did not stay for dessert, and will not be returning.
Review Source:This is a fancy schmancy place that is wonderful for either a special date, or a nice night out with friends, family, and/or enemies! :-P
This restaurant is definitely more on the pricey side, but the appetizers alone were worth it. We got the kobe beef slider trio, which were greasy and delicious. Each one had a different cheese, so it was interesting to see how each one changed the flavor of the slider. The braised short rib roll was pretty awesome as well. Really good flavoring on just the small plates alone, so I was excited for the main dish!
For dinner, we got one of their specials - Australian lamb chops, served BBQ-style. This sounded really good, but we both found that we enjoyed the apps far more. The lamb chops were fatty, and difficult to eat without making an absolute mess (fork and knife were both necessary). We were really happy that we had gotten just one entree to share, because the appetizers filled us up rather quickly. Had we known that, we might have just opted for a few small plates.
Beer and drink selection is decent -- they had something on the menu for both of us! They had a pumpkin beer, so I was pleased.
I would definitely return, if only for the appetizers and drinks! :)
So happy we decided to stop into Park Place For lunch today. Â Service was very good and the young girl was neat in her appearance and always had a smile ! I ordered the Asian Steak Salad and the Steak was like butter... My friend had a burger and she ate the whole thing she said it was really good ! Free wine with the burger and a wonderful fix price menu for our next lunch visit, sure does make us want to go back...
Happy to live in Floral Park and in walking distance to Park Place, check it out !!!
We have eaten here about a dozen times  Service is attentive and kind. Food is tough to beat in this 5 - 10 miles radius.  Never had a bad dish for dinner or lunch.  Steak chicken or fish all excellent.  I could live off appetizer menu if need be.  Good bar selection of beer - not the usual taps.  Whiskey and wine are respected here as well.
Review Source:Last night was our first visit. We liked the atmosphere and decor & that we got a table right away on St. Pat's. One thing I thought was a decorating faux pas...hanging a very large clock prominently across from the bar. Â Two reasons. If service is ever not up to par, patrons can easily recognize how long they've been waiting and at end of meal the clock is right there to think, 'getting late. Let's skip dessert'. Would sales improve if the clock wasn't there?
We shared the baked clams for an app and, for entrees, I had the short ribs and my husband the salmon. I didn't care for the clams. The panko breading didn't work for me. Our entrees were ok, but I thought mine wasn't that flavorful. The service was good. We'd go back, but wouldn't be our first choice.
We went here on a living social coupon after checking out the menu online. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere and a warm king of a feel to it. Our server Tracy was very personable and made it seem as though we had been there before. The menu was very interesting and had a lot of differant things that I am looking forward to going back to try. We started out with the lobster bique, which was a little differant than what I'm used to eating, but very good. Crab cakes were very good, served on a bed of an asian-like coleslaw. Then we had the lobster risotto, which was more like lobster with risotto. There was so many meaty pieces of lobster, not like in some places where you get mostly claw meat. The sauce on it was amazing. I can't wait to go back with friends..
Review Source:Went here for dinner with my girlfriend tonight. We went because she had a living social voucher. She had previewed the menu ahead of time and saw good reviews so she decided to purchase it. In our opinion the prices were a bit high for what you get. Also, the food that we ordered was pretty bland. We ordered fried calamari as an appetizer and it was a small portion and just had basic tomato sauce. I ordered the  the Scottish salmon that was served with plain brown rice!!! Nothing was in it, no seasonings, nothing! She ordered the flounder stuffed with crab meat. It was so small and tasteless!! It was served in some sort of broth that as you tried to eat the fish it would fall into the broth.
We were both disappointed with the restaurant and had higher expectations based on the reviews. We will not be returning here.
We've been wanting to try Park Place for a while and for one reason after another never got the chance. Â We went last week and really enjoyed it! Â The food was excellent (what would you expect from the owners of Cara Mia, my favorite Italian restaurant). Â We found the service to be very good. Â This is a bar/pub atmosphere with superb food. Â We didn't sit in the back room, but the front was about as noisy as you'd expect in this atmosphere - lively but not uncomfortable.
We'll be back!
Great place to eat. Have been here several times and have never had a bad meal or experience. Food is some of the best I have ever had. Tuna tacos, Kobe meatballs, fried wontons, lobster risotto especially top notch. Entered are to die for including skirt steak, fried chicken is incredible and Berkshire pork chop nicely glazed. Staff is outgoing and friendly, the management is top notch. Highly recommended for any night of the week.
Review Source:After posting my review, I was contacted by the co-owner and not only was he very apologenic he sent a gift card to me and my friend covering the towing expense. Â Though I have not been back, based on our experience at the restaurant and with the staff I have to change my rating to at least 4 stars. Â Just be careful where you park!
Review Source:The first time my wife and I Â went to Park Place I was very impressed with the place, as was the other couple we were with. Â The food was good and the service was outstanding. Â The one caveat that I noticed was that when when stopped at the bar afterwards for after-dinner drink was that getting a round of drinks from either of the bartender was not easy as they both were sitting in the corner of the bar talking to a large group of their friends. Â
My second visit to Park Place was also memorable, but in an negative manner. Â The food was average at best, but the dinner portions were noticeably smaller. Â While my waiter was okay, I found the rest of the staff to be rude and indifferent this time. We were watching a college football game between the two top teams in the country when the tv gets switched to hockey game. Â When I pointed out to the hostess that we were watching the football game, and that she seated us at a table in which we could watch the game from, her response was the the bartender friends want to watch the hockey game. Â She went on to state that she didn't want to become involved, so the hockey game stays on. Â What? Â between the rude service and the tiny meal there's enough other places nearby that appreciate my business that I easily state that I will never spend another dollar in Park Place!
I will start off by saying that the food was excellent, and if I rated on food alone, based on what I ordered i'd have given this place Four Stars. Â That being said, here we go!
The menu looks great, and the appetizers I got were top notch, seriously. Â Tuna taco's, amazing! Â Beef Sliders, awesome. Â Beef wonton, good, and last but definitely not least the crabcake (which if you read my other reviews i'm a crab cake fanatic) was very, very good! Â Now my complaints as if you are not striving for perfection, don't bother!
The menu is almost elegant, and the presentations very nice, and then there are BUFFALO WINGS staring at you on the bottom of the appetizer menu. Â Just a No-No in my opinion. Â If you want to serve them, that's great but make it on a separate bar menu. Â Don't have all these nice things on your menu and then have Wings served with Blue Cheese. Â (Just to add, I am a HUGE fan of wings, and many of my posts are about just wings, but not here, not like this...uh-uh). Â Second, the server told us to get Beef Wontons and one of the other appetizers, but they both had the SAME dipping sauce. Â Another no-no, or at least advise us that they are similar. Â Just my opinion from over a decade of dining out. Â
Now to the part that I didn't like at all. Â They put us in the back room, which if you didn't have Attention Deficit Disorder before you came to Park Place, you will when you leave! Â You have the TV above your head, the noise from the music in the restaurant which is loud (and is only to "attempt" to cover up the Zumba music from the Dance Studio or whatever is next door.) Â It was disturbing to say the least.
My advice, DEFINITELY check this place out, food is great and I can't wait to go back but for anyone at Park Place, think about the areas that need work because I frequented this place when it was Rustic grill for over Five years on a regular basis and want to see you guys around for a long time!
Went here for a quiet diner as we knew the place from it's previous name Rustic Grille. The waiter explained the place changed names and owners within the last year. Food was great but the acoustics are horrible you can't even hear yourself think let alone carry on a conversation without yelling. This particular Sat. night a young musician started playing after 9:00 but you could barely hear him. I would give it 4 stars for food but 2 stars for ambiance.
Review Source:This review is long over do. Â I went for restaurant week and had an amazing selection to choose from. Â Without reservations we were still able to get this little table in the corner; I personally love little nooks. Â We were waited on by one of the co-owners and I thought that was nice that we got to see the face of the restaurant. Â To start we had the "Braised Short Rib Roll"......I could have had about 5 orders of these and been fine because they were that delish. Â My friend and I were in the mood for fish and of course our luck there was only one piece of fish left. Â The waiter/co-owner was so accommodating and willing to substitute for other options not on the restaurant week menu. Â I really appreciate excellent service and such willingness to accommodate. Â The salmon was perfect with the asparagus and brown rice. Â As soon as we saw that desert menu our mouths dropped. Â Deep fried oreos and peanut butter creme brulee....need I say more. Â This is a great local spot in the land of pizzerias and fast food chains.
Review Source:I love, love, love this restaurant. I've been there three times for takeout ...and then, twice for the bar scene, and twice for dinner with my beau since the recent NYTimes review.
Why? From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed, comfortable and as if, maybe I hadn't stumbled on just another local nice place, with good food. Each and every time, I've been very impressed. Â Like everyone else, I love the tuna tacos but even the salads are fresh, interesting and delicious.
I'm a true NYC foodie and have eaten all types of cuisines, in all types of eateries, all over the city from Soho to Uptown, and even in the new NY, Williamsburg; but it's so refreshing and honestly, quite amazing to find a restaurant of this caliber east of the city.
