Shackleton's Restaurant

I've passed this place many times and it kind of stands out on a street that has more than a few shabby storefronts because it looks good from the outside and has an interesting name...

I had lunch with my wife and the menu has a little bit of everything available with reasonable prices for both drinks and food.  Our burgers were very good and seemed to be real hand made patties not the standard machine pressed food distributor style so popular today.  The fries and house made chips were good as well.  Our waitress was attentive and took very good care of us and seemed to be doing the same with her other tables.

Parking is easy with a city lot behind the building, a big plus around here.  The interior decor was inviting with dark wood paneling and a comfortable ambiance......However, the many TVs hanging around suggest an entirely different environment during busier times and sporting events which is fine if that's what you are there for.  I personally will stick to lunch time and be back again.

I originally came here for a Bachelorette Party which was done in their back room. The food was DELICIOUS!! The appetizers, the salad, main course and cake!! Very good. I came back again to take my fiance to try their food last weekend and we both thought this place was GREAT!! Their food is SO FRESH, well made, and quality ingredients. Not expensive, nice staff, and very home feeling. The menu is not intensive, but good enough options to play around with. I HIGHLY recommend this place.

They just renovated this place, got rid of the Berlin wall they had between the bar and the dining area and bar is now one big room, with a reasonable partition separating but no segregation which is A+ in my opinion.  I give the food a 3.5 if not higher, but overall a 3 until further notice.  

The food is and has always been excellent.  The bartenders are top notch.  The only challenge in the past has been the wait service, but recently I have found that they have improved IMMENSELY in this area.  In the past, you knew it was bad when you go in for dinner and hoped for a spot at the bar to eat at because your scared of the servers!!!  I am hoping this has finally been resolved for good.  

Food here excellent, ambiance is very comfortable, plenty of parking behind the restaurant.  Dinner menu is still a little pricey for a pub, but if you want good bar food, i.e. burgers, (portabella burger is one of my favorites), or appetizers you can't go wrong.  They did change up the menu a bit also which always helps!
