This place was quite hidden if you don't know where it was as it wasn't on a main road like Armour Road. Â I came here with a few teammates for lunch before noon. Â It was pretty busy but still a bunch of tables available. Â In the middle of the place was a decent-sized bar. Â We were seated in the back area where there was a tv and was cozy back there.
Our waitress was pretty busy as she was tending to all of the tables in the back area. Â The menu had a lot of choices from burgers to sandwiches to others I can't remember. Â I decided to order the Chili Dip Burger ($7.99) which sounded good. Â I was able to substitute the chips for fries since I felt fries complement burgers better than chips. Â
The food took a long time to come out, but it might have been really busy in the front area. Â The Chili Dip Burger was good and the chili that was on the burger wasn't what I was expecting. Â It looked like it was ground beef like the same ones that was in tacos. Â The chili was definitely interesting, but I thought it complemented the burger. Â The fries were unsalted, but it was fine since I had part of the chili that fell out of my burger to eat with it.
Overall, I thought the food was good and good place to grab some bar food.
During a recent snow storm we ordered take out from this place at work. It was so good I decided to go there and try it again.
Friendly people, good food, clean, reasonable prices and quick for lunch. Â I'll definitely be back to visit again with the family and for lunch form time to time. Yum!!
Really great food. They are famous for their chili and for good reason. I'd never had chili the way they serve theirs, it's served with very little juice, but it's very good. I've also tried their pork chops and can say their some of the best I've ever enjoyed in a restaurant. I've also tried their chicken strips which are very good, but I have trouble getting past the chili when I go there.
Review Source:The first time I went to Paul & Jack's, they had a roast beef sandwich on special for $7.99. It was fantastic! Was it gourmet, gasto-risque chic? No, but it was a damn satisfying sandwich! (See also Reuben). I was hooked.
The next time I visited, I was introduced to their martini menu. Did you know they have a martini club??? There's about 40 different martinis on that menu and I've tried about ten of 'em and won't stop until I've downed them all. It was in this same visit that me and a friend decided that we would not repeat an order until we had tried everything on the menu.
My recommendations: anything!
The service is great, especially out on patio (which is one of the nicest in town). Patio service can sometimes be dreadful at most places - the server forgets you, it's crowded and only one server, etc...It's never been like that at Paul & Jack's. Slow or busy (never really seen it busy now that I think about it), the server is always attentive and shows up at the right time.
All and all, I really love Paul & Jack's. It's casual and easy going with an extensive menu and a food quality that is always consistent and comforting.
Been here a number of times and it will continue to be a go to joint. Â Usually grab me a sangwich, of which there are plenty to choose. Â The Big Whale fish and Killer tenderloin live up to their name. Â Bring your appetite. Â
Fried Pickles and Jalepenos are great bar fare. Â We stopped in here during a pub crawl and they were happy to have us.
I'm giving it only 1 star rather than 0 stars because I don't want folks to think I forgot to give it a star rating. My wife's co-workers decided to celebrate the Christmas holiday together by having dinner together. The experience was absolutely terrible. The service was fair at best but the food was the worst I've experienced anywhere, and I travel around the country for business 3 weeks a month. Â I ordered steak cooked medium and it came nearly well done. A friend ordered the prime rib medium rare and it was well done, not even a little pink. He sent it back indicating he had ordered medium rare and the waitress returned with the same nearly burned prime rib, putting it front of him with a message from the so called cook that that was rare as it is going to get. We were so shocked with the response, the friend decided to attempt to choke it down rather than make a scene. I would have made a scene and I've never sent anything back. The burgers were tasteless and dry, the fries were cold, the pasta tasted like crap. There wasn't one meal that was even decent. Next year we are considering a local truck stop for a big improvement. Stay away from this nasty place. It is disgusting. I can't think of a chain that is as bad as these guys do I can't give you a comparison. This is the first review I've ever written so that should tell you how bad it truly was.
Review Source:It's your standard golfing/surfing bar right in the middle of North Kansas City. Â
It has three huge public rooms plus a smaller party room on the side and a giant back patio for concerts. Â You could pack a ton of people in this bar. Â
OMG they have fish tacos. Â And, they have them the way they should, no beans or rice to annoy, because really, a place that doesn't have anything to do with Mexican food should not try. So, I respect that. Â The FT's are tilapia and after I finish rolling my eyes about tilapia, I get them, again. Â
I got the salad along with and it was a good clean little salad. Â Red onions, carrots, cheese, tomatoes, yeah it's probably from a bag BUT no brown pieces! Â The ranch is good. Â Then those darn FT's. Â They come with a ranch/salsa mixture which is not particularly imaginative but tasty for sure. Â Their breading has a little spice to it and over all I give it a 6 on the FT scale. Â They are small, I definitely wanted more than two. Â
The service is fantastic, the bartender even remembered me from August AND what we talked about. Â Amazing. Â I love those kind of people. Â I lift my $2.50 domestic draw to her (all day).
My family ate here on a Saturday. Â It's of the beaten path, surrounded largely by warehouses, and would do more than 10x the traffic in a busier part of town.
They have seating for 30-40 and a party room off the side. Â The restaurant is in the front with a bar behind it.
We ordered our food and the meals were huge. Â I ordered pork chops and my wife a dinner salad. Â We both took enough home for lunch the next day. Â They season heavily so ask for it to be more plain if you don't like your food strong.
The prices were excellent for what we received.
I've never had the food here, but this is one of my favorite places in North Kansas City to sit at the bar with my friends, having a few  beers while watching a game. Â
In addition to the bar at the center of the restaurant, there's a courtyard in back with a stage for live entertainment.
The bartenders here are very friendly, and I really appreciate their attentiveness. Â Â They refuse to let my glass sit empty!
Good Bar Food!!!!
Ordered the double 1/3 lb. burger with cheese. Â Fresh ground beef with american cheese. Â Excellent flavor, nice and crispy outside.
Comes with a nice side of fries, ours were however not fresh out of the fryer. Â So a small nick there. Â
Also ordered the "killer tenderloin" which is a big crispy deep fried piece of meat. Â A little on the thin-side. Â but flavorful non-the-less. Â About 9 inches in diameter. Â Got this with an order of onion rings.
The Onion Rings were the best we have had. Â fresh, hot and full of fatening flavor.
The service was slow, but this could have been a product of the kitchen.....who knows.
I would suggest this to anyone looking for an above average experience of BAR FOOD, at a reasonable price.
GO FOR IT!!!
