I only recently discovered Caddy Shack after living here 5 plus years.  A good dive bar  that seems relatively clean and serves one of a kind pizza.  Yes, Please.  Our service was prompt and friendly the entire time afternoon as we watched many basketball games.  The pizza!  The sweet sauce!  I haven't tasted anything like that before and it was a welcome palate pleaser.
Review Source:Is Caddy Shack the perfect dive bar?
Dark, low ceilings, paneling from the 1970s-check.
Music from KY102's 1978 playlist-yep.
Friendly bartenders-oh yeah.
Lots of regulars who all know each other-uh-huh.
Short drive home-praise the Lord.
Great pizza-whuuutt? YESSSS!
I cannot say enough good things about the sauce on this pizza. Yes, it's sweet. But it's the perfect foil for the heat that's there too, which seems to be hard to come by these days. I remember when pizza was considered spicy food, but not so much these days. Â So this sauce was amazing! The crust is thin but not brittle, topped with plenty of meat and veggies, without being overburdened with cheese. They will add Provel cheese for $1 extra, but we played it straight this time. The sandwich menu is for another visit, as is the fried potato salad, which I've only ever seen in Sedalia before last night (it's wonderful!)
Our bartender did double duty waiting tables, and was great. This is KCMO, so seeing a guy at the end of the bar smoking a cigarette caused me to wonder, until he came over and asked how everything was, and I realized he was probably an owner. This was my first visit, but the camaraderie among staff and patrons is palpable. The place was full early on a Friday evening, and we had the misfortune of sitting right inside the front door for awhile on a miserably cold, wet evening. But the barkeep/waiter cleaned off another table for us as soon as it came open. Â There's a good size patio off to the side of the building, and I'd love to try it out, if spring/summer EVER gets here!
Ahhh Caddy Shack! Â You know, I'm constantly being razzed on the fact that I have never seen almost any movie that may be referenced in conversation, and Caddy Shack is no exception. Â But what I have enjoyed on many occasion is there pizza! Â
Now, there are a few quirks to this place that you have to learn to love...like the fact that the person taking your delivery order may or may not know the months of the year. Â Just help them out where needed and soon enough you will have a super meal walked right up to your door. Â My personal favorite is their pizza, really any of them I have tried. Â They have a great sweet and spicy sauce that make all of the chain joints around town seem like their junk comes from a jar. Â The fried ravioli are best fresh, but not on my highly recommended list. Â The mozzarella sticks are the perfect way to indulge before you indulge. Â
Another excellent point, especially if you live in the Market area, their delivery is stupid quick.  Of course you can't expect miracles; if you call during the diner hour on a Friday night you will have to wait a bit longer...but if you call on a random week night  or any late night, that pie will be to your door fast!  They do not mess around with their estimated times.  If they tell me 30 to 40 minutes, I'm make sure not to be otherwise disposed of after 25, because they will be there when they say.
You may have noticed that this review is a tad one sided, as in just about delivery. Â That is because the only times I have been to this little dive bar in person has been on New Year's, and I don't think anyone deserves to be judged on that night. Â I have heard great things and I'm sure will make it in. Â I have however ordered their pizza probably 1.4 million times, so I feel pretty good writing up a review for that!
Cheers!
