Grinders

Dined in today and had the bengal tiger and bbq chicken pizza. Both were delicious, the crust is so good, a chewy crust with a bit of crispiness, just the right amount of thickness to hold up to the ingredients. Since the bengal tiger pizza is an indian inspired pizza the crust was perfect, my boyfriend described it as eating on naan bread which I think is a good description of the crust texture itself. The bbq chicken pizza was also delicious if not a little skimpy on the chicken but other than that perfect. Our servers where all very nice yet they weren't overbearing. Despite supposedly being a hole in the wall I thought it seemed clean enough and it had a lot of character. Gave it 4 stars cause it's a bit expensive for pizza, but it is worth it when you have that ocassional pizza craving.

I've been to Grinder's several times and I honestly do not understand what all the hype is about. The decor is pretty sweet. If I could just review the decor and atmosphere, then they would get 5 stars all the way.

BUT

The food is just down-right horrible. Tonight's visit is what did it in for me. I had their 2 for 1 pizza special (one mushroom, 1 pepperoni) with a half order of tots with cheese. The pizza was the worst I've ever had - burnt on the bottom with hardly any cheese. The mushroom pizza was laughable. They didn't sauteed those little mushrooms or do a single darn thing to them. They literally threw a handful of plain ol' mushroom on top. The cheese on my tots was way too salty; I couldn't finish them (and cheese just happens to be my favorite food in the world).

Go here for a beer during a night of bar hopping, or come for the concert venue. But stay away from that nasty food.

My husband and I visited Grinders for the first time today and it was absolutely wonderful. I will definitely be back and will tell everyone I talk to.
