Danny's Big Easy

First time for the girls at Danny's big easy open mike on Saturday; the musicians were really talented, and they came together into tight sounding bands. We got a taste of what Kansas City is known for, spectacular! Food was tasty and staff was fun. Please KC keep renovating this district.

Ok, so I read all the reviews before visiting this place and was actually excited to check it out.  I went with a couple friends to have dinner and celebrate my birthday.  First off, you had to pay a cover of $5 to get into a restaurant.  That was my first problem.  We paid even though there was no live music at first.  The restaurant was not very clean, and you would probably catch something in the bathroom.  Now, lets get to the service.  HORRIBLE.  And they weren't even that busy.  There were plenty of empty tables.  We had to wait it seemed like forever to be asked what we were drinking.  Next, lets get to the food.  Which I heard was absolutely wonderful before even reading the reviews on here.  I ordered the jambalaya pasta.  One word...DISGUSTING!  I asked to waitress to change it and she copped an attitude.  Next I tried the seafood pasta.  Now, this wasn't half bad.  A little too cheesy but it was edible.  One of my friends had a blackened chicken salad.  The chicken came on the side and actually tasted like it was teriyaki.  The lettuce was brown and she couldn't even eat it.  My other friend had the stuffed catfish, now while he ate it.  It wasn't very good either.  The potatoes were instant and everything was covered in this cheese like gravy.  We all said we would never be back.  This was very disappointing and I'm starting to wonder if all these good reviews on here were written by the staff.  Anyway, I do not recommend Danny's Big Easy at all!!!

What an awesome place and located at 18th & Vine, the historic jazz district in Kansas City. The live music is awesome. Saw the Dave Stephens Band, a 30's-40's style swing band. Had dinner, listened to the band and enjoyed it a lot.
I had the ribeye and my friend Savanna had pasta.
Prices were reasonable, service was outstanding and the atmosphere was great. This is a place I will go to over and over again.
