I wasn't sure what to expect but I really enjoyed our dinner here. Â The place is so cool, tin ceilings, original wood and stained glass. Â I loved the ambience. Â Our waiter was great. Â My first impression is that it was very reasonably priced. Â $38 for a steak with a salad and 2 side dishes. Â Can't beat that. Â The salad was very good, good size, good dressing, can't complain. Â The steak is what it is all about and my steak was perfect. Â Perfectly cooked medium rare, so tender and delicious. Â I had a baked potato and green beans. Â Both were fine, standard steak house fare. Â I kind of wish they had a great potato dish like a fabulous smashed garlic or something. Â I will go back for the great steak.
Review Source:Went there for dinner and we got seated downstairs with the Jazz band. Â Â The music was good, a little bit on the loud side, but good.
The food was OK, passable, nothing to write home about. Â Â Two of us had dinner and we got the filet and the strip. Â OK. Â Â The rolls are cold and not good at all, the sides are not bad. Â I got the rice and the asparagus. Â Â Â I think I will try a different place for steak next time I am in downtown.
I had a plethora of steakhouse choices in Kansas City and selected The Majestic based upon the recommendation of some locals. Glad I did.
Very impressive and historic old school ambiance, from the main level restaurant and bar to the downstairs jazz club section where they also serve food and have a cozy little bar.
Started off with a bottle of Jordan Cabernet, which was reasonably priced, followed with a honey mustard viniagrette dressing salad (very tastey) and house special that evening--a 14 ounce bone in KC Strip that was cooked perfectly at medium rare. Potato was good, creamed spinach a little too creamy for my tastes. Bread was decent, nothing worth noting. Enjoyed this outstanding meal while listening to a wonderful jazz trio directly in front of us. I have read earlier reviews where the sound level was loud, but I did not find that to be the case and was able to conduct conversations with the other people at my table.
I am a cigar aficionado and was disappointed the Pendergast Cigar Club was closed that evening for a private event (it is also closed on Sunday evenings)....it was ashame because from the pictures I saw, it looks like a real nice club that I will have to frequent  on my next visit to town.
