I have been a fan of the Pete's in Dallas for a long time so I didn't hesitate for a second when I saw one on Duval in Key West. Â It was a great alternative to some of the "spring break-ier" bars in the area... and it is pretty much impossible not to have a good time at a dueling piano bar.
I was even more excited when I noticed this Pete's has a back yard with Cornhole (beanbag toss) and life size Jenga. Â What's not to love about that!?!?!?
My only complaint is that the volume seemed a bit muted. Don't be afraid to turn those microphones up and get a little rowdy on the pianos!
A lot of fun if you like singing the oldies! Â Two guys on piano & a drummer--all were great. Â They encourage audience participation with singing & clapping, substituting funny lyrics. Â The crowd was really into it and we stayed for several hours. Â Drinks were very expensive, but there is no cover.
Review Source:Fun place! Â Its at the location where Big 'Uns used to be. Â They did a great job cleaning up the place.
Went in with the intention of staying for only a couple of songs, but it was so much fun, we stayed for a few hours. Â The musicians were great and really got the crowd going. Â Drink prices are a bit on the high side at night. Â However, during the day, they have a 2 for 1 happy hour until 8 PM I believe.
Definitely stop by if you're in the area!
I've only been to a couple piano-bars and this was no different (not that it's a bad thing!). A fun experience for sure but nothing above and beyond the ordinary. Average drink prices, friendly bartenders, and fun musicians make it a worth-while stop, but not something that you absolutely have to see. I recommend it if you've never been to a dueling piano bar before though.
Review Source:Went to Pete's on vaca on the first night we got there and never left spent 3 nights we were in key west there. Â One of the best we've been to. Â Lots of talent in this bar and they added more recently with one of the best from my hometown. All the musicians were very friendly and eager to please. Â If your on Duvall st skip the rest of the live music these guys are the best in town.
Review Source:We had a lot of fun here on our recent trip to Key West! First, there wasn't a cover any time we went, which is awesome for a piano bar!
We went at happy hour a few times when there's a solo musician playing. We liked his music (he's the same guy who plays at Commotion on the Ocean) and all the drinks were $3!! $3 frozen margarita? yes please! And seats at a window that over looks Duval making for perfect people watching? Don't mind if I do. This place was really close to our inn, so we stopped by before changing for dinner almost daily.
We also stopped by later at night. It seemed like this place stayed going after a lot of the action on Duval died down, which was great. It is more of a sit and relax spot than a crazy dancing spot, but those of us who like high heels are cool with this. Plus, waitresses come to your table and take your drink order, which is nice. No waiting at the bar. Also, it wasn't super crowded, but by no means was it empty either. Sometimes not being bumped by sweaty patrons and actually having room to move is nice.
Pianos stayed going till around 2 or 3 I think, depending on the night of the week. Piano players were pretty good, often hopping on the drums to accompany the other piano player, too.
I think this is a great addition to Duval. I'll certainly be back!
This is THE BEST PLACE for live music on Duval Street - hands down. Â We had been up and down the street and stayed here for 3 hours -- two nights in a row. Â The music is the best -- two baby grands playing at the same time -- great musicians here -- John, James and Jeremy were lighting the place up all night. Â The whole crowd is singing together -- we made friends with the folks near us -- they ask you come in and sing LOUD ... Damn it (that's what makes it FUN!). Â Check them out on Facebook -- posted a couple videos of the music -- they play every request and only rarely don't know a song (then you get a Mulligan!) Â Can't wait to come back - Bartenders and waitstaff were fantastic -- drinks never went dry (Thanks, Heather!!) and were heavy pours -- two great nights closing at 3 AM -- came in at midnight and stayed all night.
Review Source:Stopped in during a night of bar hopping in Key West. Â The first night of our vacation it was still under construction but by the second (July 2nd) it was open for business. Â I'm not sure if it was just the newness of the place, but it wasn't particularly packed (and those who were there seemed to be much older). Â Because of the way it was set up, it wasn't really meant for dancing and was far more of a sit down grab a drink while they perform kind of place. Â I have been to other dueling piano bars where they seemed to get the crowd really involved and played lots of hits, but on the night we were there this wasn't the case.
The waitress did come over right away to take our orders, and she did bring us our drink right away (although it was $1 more than pretty much every other bar we had been to) which we appreciated.  We ended up only staying for a few songs before deciding there were more fun options on the island.  Hoping that on the next visit they will have worked out the kinks to make this a bit livelier spot!
