The very openly "fabulous" waiter is fun to watch.
The spring rolls, drunken noodle were probably one of the best I had, although I'm not much of a Thai guy.
The soft shell crab was bit heavy, and little too strong.
The food overall was excellent = 4 stars.
I hardly ever give four stars for food.
Maybe it could have been that I was starving, so I can be biased.
I'll change the review next time if it changes.
I just didn't understand why dessert was so expensive.  I did not order any.
It's clean, but loud due to the number of customers.
    Service was very good.
In the words of the Terminator...
    "I'll be back."

Came here for the first time a few weeks ago with some co-workers.  This was my first experience with Thai food and it was excellent.  It helped that one of our co-workers was from Thailand and ordered everything for us.  The Papaya salad kicked my A$$.  refreshing but HOT.  Drunken Noodles with beef/Duck/and red snapper were all cooked to perfection.  Service was very good but I think that was because of co-worker doing all the talking for us ;-)  Get the Thai Iced tea also.  That was another great experience.  Very casual place but be careful if you are making a left out of the parking lot.

Great place for lunch. You can't obviously go wrong with their noodle dishes i.e., Pad Thai or Pad See Ew. But this is one restaurant that knows how to cook TOFU -- perfect texture and firmness. Definitely recommend this place.

The food is wonderful.  It's very crowded most days, but the service is good.  The food will make us come back for sure.

I have been coming here since it opened and am still a big fan as it is the best Thai food around but after going there tonight, my tom yum soup was not the same as before, the fried appetizers were very greasy and my husbands seafood noodle soup didn't taste like much.

WHAT happened.... they must have gotten a new chef as the tom yum soup used to be a clear broth with pieces of lemon grass large enough to pick out and now there are small pieces mostly invisible to the eye, stringy mushrooms and the broth is good but definitely not clear and has a bit too much fish sauce in it.

Bring back the previous chef or tell me where he is cooking now!!!!

I'm wondering of the place has changed hands or just chefs?????

Best Thai I've had.  Their cold duck salad is on my "last meal" menu.  Sweet, spicy, duck is not fatty at all.  Other favorites are their frog legs and softshell crab.  Drunken noodles are tasty.  Everything they serve is a notch above other Thai restaurants.  Service is fast and friendly.

Received a great recommendation to try Pi Maan.  Since I am Thai, I'm tough to impressed when it comes to Thai food.  So glad we came.  We ordered several apps, entrees and chocolate soufle.  Everything was delicious, authentic flavor (not Americanized and that's how it should be!) and generous portions.  Reasonalbly priced, friendly staff.  I think I found a new favorite Thai place in Bergen County!!  Bravo Pi Maan!!

Since the Yelp reviews were so good, a group of us traveling on business decided to go a bit out of our way to give this one a try. We were pleasantly surprised. The food and service were excellent. We ordered a variety of soups and entrees and each was excellent. Definitely worth a visit.

I have to say that the yelp reviews for Pimaan are very much on the mark. And I am tough nut when it come to Thai food as I have yet to find any that I can designate as 5 star. And who would have thought such a delightful restaurant would be found in the wilds of Emerson NJ? Apparently many others. Thanks for that!

We happened to venture out to Bergen County where we have had many memorable dining experiences and to run some errands. Pimaan was easy enough to locate on the busy thoroughfare of Kinderkarmack Road, its free standing building offering its own parking lot. We were not quite sure if the entrance was in the front or if we should go in the lower level door. Turns out one can enter directly from the parking lot. And for once we were on the earlier side of things and were their first patrons of the day. We were quickly greeted and seated at a table near the front or the back depending on one's means of entry which afforded us with spectacular views of Kinderkarmack Road ;)))

We were waited upon by a very nice, friendly and smiley waiter. If he were any indication we were in for a treat. Just not if we wished for the raw veggie rolls in rice paper as they were out... How hard is that as they did have salad salad. Grrr. So we settled instead on Thai Iced Teas (sweet and creamy), Crispy (fried) Veggie Rolls their recommended Spicy Vegetarian Duck Salad (my entree) and an eggless tofu Pad Thai.

The standout in that bunch was for sure the faux duck salad dare I call it "fauck" for short??? Usually when I have ordered such a thing it comes out with bumpy "skin" which to me is unappealing but no such textures were seen in their offering. And for an appetizer it served us both well. I particularly enjoyed the unexpected julienned bits of fruit, perhaps pear or apple or an Asian pear?, which gave it not only a naturally sweet flavor but added some contrasting crunch to the soft succulent fauck bits. The salad was visually appealing too with bright colors and thought in presentation. I would have liked it a little more spicy so next time I will be sure to mention it. Along with sharing the Pad Thai, which had a nice balance of flavors, not too sweet, salty or tamarindy, we enjoyed a relatively light brunch and left feeling well sated and pleased.

The place is a little dated decor wise and a little worn, as evidenced by their flimsy laminated and stained menus and antiquated restie loo but what they lack perhaps in refinement was made up for in the quality of the food, cheery attentive service and of the experience. A happy outcome! We will happily travel back there for some fine Thai cuisine and now even more so knowing it is one of RS's dad's faves. ;))))

Simple Simon, said the Pimaan... ;))))

Wow, the Yelp reviews were very solid, but my expectations were still exceeded! Went with one other couple.

Pimaan Rolls, Chicken Satay and steamed Dumplings for apps. Each excellent. I also got the Tom Kha Ghoon soup which I loved.

Pad Thai x 2, Chicken with Green Curry and a Chicken and Broccoli with a sate type sauce from the special menu for entrees. We definitely over ordered, but everything was so good that it didn't matter.

The place offers zero ambiance and the staff was just okay, but I went for the food and it was perhaps the best Thai I've ever had!

$46 per couple was very reasonable for the amount of food we had.

Definitely worth the trip. We'll be back for sure!

I go here about once a month.  You can't miss here.  Some places have off nights, Pimaan never does.
Try the green curry, get it 4 stars spicy.  It's awesome.
So is everything else on the menu.  If you want great thai food, look no further than Pimaan.

We love this truly authentic Thai restaurant.  Having it in our town is wonderful and we know that we will not be disappointed when we go there.  The portions are amazing and we always take a lot of it home.  My daughter joined us the last time and she has become a fan too. The curry dishes are outstanding and the Thai ice tea is my favorite drink there.

The curries here are the best in the area...I am hooked on this restaurant.

I LOVE chicken curry noodle soup. I have been all over NYC trying to find Khao Soi that compares to a dish I had in San Francisco, but I have yet to find It. However... comparable in deliciousness is the Massaman Curry from Pimaan. I usually get it to go with a side of steamed noodles. When I get home, I thin the curry out with some chicken stock and put it over the noodles with cilantro, lime juice, and some fried onions. Amazing.

The spring rolls are also quite addicting.

The best Thai food I've ever had thus far. They vegetarian duck is absolutely delectable in the drunken noodles. With such an extensive menu, I don't think I could ever get sick of this place.

Solid Thai food in Bergen county, where Thai restaurants seem like a rarity. It's a bit pricy unless you go for lunch on Monday to Fridays when they have specials (appetizer, soup, entree for around $8-9). Their curries are quite good and definitely pack some heat. I was in tears my first time (did I mention I'm also a wimp?), so if you can't handle the fire, ask them to make it mild. Service is quick, friendly, and efficient.

been here TWO handful of times (stupid fb is not linked in with yelp, thus i only have one checkin here)
pad thai, you so pricey here! $13 with shrimp?!
but, don't be dismayed by the price.
let it seduce you to think you are paying for a luxury (street cart) food.
wait, you are thinking about the price again.

but in seriousness, when you have to compare this place with Bangkok in Hackensack, or even Ridge Thai in Ridgewood, I think this place is best for their Pad Thai. However, the portions in Ridgewood are surprisingly bigger and perhaps a dollar cheaper too. Pad Thai is a street cart food after all. It is supposed to taste yummy, sweet, and fattening. Pimaan hits all three categories.

their bubble tea is good as well. Comes in this long high glass that can easily tip over if you are not paying attention, so please do.

    enjoy your meal.

Very cute little restaurant.  The decor is simple and pretty.  We had girl's night here, and we were all happy with the food.  I personally really liked the spring rolls.  Had a shrimp entree and was impressed.  Would love to go back and try more.

Authentic Thai food with a refine touch. So far I've been here twice and service was excellent. No matter what you order in the menu you can't go wrong. It's delicious. For those who can take the heat, ask for the pepper condiments. The Thai chili powder is the hottest of the three. Their spicy dishes are not that hot at all. This place is BYOB.

Consistently good food and warm service. Favorite dishes are chicken green curry, shrimp pad Thai, spicy tofu and their marinated BBQ chicken. They don't skimp on the spice which I love!

Can get crowded and loud but that's because the food is good. Bring the whites to mellow out the spice.

I have never had a bad meal here. The wait staff is quick and efficient at any time (except Friday or Saturday after 7p.m.) Then they seem to be at a loss. So I make it a point of going ANYTIME before 7. Then, no problems.

The Pad Seau is excellent as is the Tamarind Duck and Massamon Curry. The apps are also great, though all are not always available. No more Mee Grob (too bad), Crab pancake is meager but excellent though also rarely available.

The only negative is the very attractive Matron-D. She is cold and often rude, though I never have a problem with her. The women in my party always do and I see her being quite rude to other female patrons as well. Since I can ignore her attitude, I go there often.

    Try it, you'll like it!

The narrow shabbily carpeted staircase at the main entrance may not make the best impression, and you may not enjoy listening to the commercials broadcast via 106.7 lite FM, but press on...  The food at this small Thai restaurant is delightfully good.  This was our first visit to this BYOB gem and we will definitely be going back to sample more menu items.

We began with the Spring Rolls(6) as an appetizer.  We were served a square plate with 4 homemade crispy spring rolls with a side of homemade sweet and sour sauce.  They were good but not as special as the food to come.
Next we shared a noodle dish, the Duck Noodle Soup(14).  This is an absolutely wonderful soup - delicious savory broth, fresh bean sprouts, fresh bok choy, divine handmade flat broad noodles, and lots of roasted sliced duck.  I will go back again just for this soup!

We moved on to the Whole Red Snapper Pla Rad Prik(19) - tamarind sauce, chili, garlic & cilantro.  A delicious fresh fish that was prepared well.  The sauce was homemade, savory, spicy and sweet.  A delightful entrée.  The Shrimp Fried Rice(13) was a generous portion.  No frozen vegetables and canned shrimp here!   The rice was fluffy, well-seasoned, and mixed with fresh vegetables and large sautéed fresh shrimp.  We also ordered a side dish of the Sautéed Vegetables(6).  I highly recommend these if you enjoy vegetables.  They were simply prepared yet savory and delicious.

We enjoyed a beautiful freshly prepared meal at Pimaan Thai.  The décor and ambiance are not the best, but the food is worth it.  And if you don't enjoy 106.7 lite FM, pick up their take out menu and enjoy this wonderful food at home.

Always happy with the food I get here, this is the go to Thai place when I'm in the area. Usually take away but a couple of times I have dined in. Pineapple fried rice is delicious and a generous portion. Spring rolls very tasty and the dipping sauce is great- not too sweet. Atmosphere is nice for dining in, not too fancy but def nicer then a take away joint place. friendly service.

Ok, I've eaten here about 15-20 times now over the past several years so I think I can give a decent assessment of the place.

First I would like to give a small disclaimer  ~ I am giving it 4 stars RELATIVE to the area this restaurant is located in.  Granted, there are some great thai joints that surpass in flavor and execution across the bridge in NYC, but for this general area, it's the best thai restaurant you can find.

FOOD: the flavors are generally consistent and good, although occasionally, portions and ratios of ingredients vary a little bit.
SERVICE: ranges from slow to very quick / depends on the night and the staff, but I don't generally get my panties in a bunch about delayed service when the place is packed - which is often on weekend nights.
DECOR/Ambiance: improved in the past year or so - new lighting helped the place

Their dishes are tasty, they have good thai food  - not your typical thai/chinese/sushi mish mash of asian food to please all the boring safe palate-ed people in the world.  They do a great whole fish with your choice of seasoning/sauce.  Oh, and be sure to order your chocolate souffle w/ice cream at least 30 minutes prior to your dessert time if you don't want to wait forever for it. It's YUM.

    Very good quality Thai food.

The inside decor is nice enough to take a date and quite a few people bring their own wine bottles since its BYOB. The waitstaff provides a tin bucket with ice.

Our group of 4 shared the ginger chicken, a red curry, a pepper beef, and a chicken satay a few weeks ago. Top notch. No dish was disappointing and the combination of flavors was perfect. I'd say that Pimaan is the best Thai food I've ever had at that price.

I came hear with my Mom on a Saturday night. The place was pretty busy, but they opened the second level so they could accomodate more people. We ordered the papaya salad, spring rolls, vegetable pad thai, and vegetable pad see ew.

The Papaya Salad: My mom found this to be a good salad, although it was a little sweet. They made a special dressing for it since we're vegetarian, which we appreciated.

Spring Rolls: The rolls were crispy and hot, but there were no vegetables inside. Instead they're filled with noodles with one or two shreds of carrots. While the rolls were ok, I wanted them as advertised (with vegetables!).

Pad Thai: My mom had the pad thai and found it to be pretty bad. It was 80% noodles, 18% bean sprouts, and 2% vegetables. It also didn't come with tofu like it said it would. Because there were no vegetables it became a noodle overload. The dish was also very sweet and lacked flavor.

Pad See Ew: My dish was not that great either. It didn't have many vegetables and it also didn't come with the tofu. A lot of the noodles clumped together so there ended up being large noodle-clumps in the dish.

Service: We were seated promptly and the waiter took our order quickly as well. He also fixed our shaky table when we complained. But then he forgot about us. My mom asked for some hot sauce and by the time he brought it she had finished her meal.

Price: We paid $38 for two entrees and two appetizers (no drinks), which is a bit steep considering the quality of the food.

Overall: Skip it. There's better Thai food elsewhere.

Came here before the movies a few weeks ago. For appetizers we had the summer roll and spicy fried tofu. The glass noodles were delicious. For our entrees, we had the spicy curry tofu, and mixed vegetables over rice with tofu. I wish I would have tried the pad thai here. Everything was tasty.

I had tofu for the appetizer and entree, so I think I OD'd. Overall it is a cute place and the service is friendly. We are strictly vegetarian and they were willing to work with us on everything.

There was a lot of food, and we did end up taking home the leftovers. I would definitely come back with friends and family.

Pretty good Thai food for the area.

For an appetizer I split a Spicy Shrimp Salad which was layered with shrimp, different peppers and variety of lettuce and some type of dressing which was delicious and actually quite spicy.

To drink a Thai Ice Tea, of course, pretty good and served in a tall glass with a clever straw creation on top

For my entrée, a Chicken Red Curry. Very scrumptious with the just the right amount of rice to go along side it. Chicken, bamboo shoots, peppers, eggplant, and other Asian assortments in the dish.

Overall pretty good experience for around $25 with tip.

As good as it gets is an understatement.

The wait staff are incredibly hard working and attentive.   I enjoy spicy food and they never let me down in that respect.  I have tried a number of their items and have never been disappointed. ..

My favorite items are: tofu satay (grilled tofu on skewers, not always on menu), summer rolls (incredible flavor and great dipping sauce), spicy tofu, drunken noodles, red/green curry and fried calamari (INCREDIBLE!!).

This is easily the best Thai restaurant in NJ.  Nothing comes close.  The prices are great, the service is great, decor isn't bad (but isn't that great, but who cares, you go to restaurants, usually, for the food!).

I cannot express in words how much I love this restaurant.  I have told a number of friends about it and they all have loved it, many of them now go once every 2 weeks or more.

I think this is one of the better Thai places around my area in Bergen County - easily better than the Green Papaya "fusion" and I think the food is of higher quality and better flavored than Bangkok Garden.

The flagship Thai dishes are always a hit with flavor and even portion size - chicken or shrimp pad thai and beef pad see ew. Much much more flavorful than either of the other aforementioned Thai spots.

I haven't had their curries yet so I cannot comment.

Their pad gra pow is also good and if you get it medium or above, it will definitely kick you in the pants.

I never comment on decor as it doesn't matter to me, to be honest. As for service, I generally go when it's not busy so it's always been spot on.  One time we did order take-out and it took a while for the girl at the front to even acknowledge us so I can see how the service might be during dinner rush.

All in all this is my #1 place for Thai food in the area.

Pimaan is one of the better authentic restaurants in the area. Honestly I have not visit it since I came back from Thailand but I always liked the food there. The service is on a slow (true Thai) side, but food is great and the place is quite. They can spruce up the decor but i guess the bargain prices will not be available afterward.

My favorites in Pimaan are: duck salad, mee crob, tom kha gay, whole grilled fish.

This is our go to Thai restaurant in the Bergen County area.

They are extremely consistent and usually not very crowded for dinner during the week.

My wife started with the Chicken Curry Puffs.  Three of them served along with a side of a cucumber/carrot vinegar concoction.  They are always reliably good.

I began with Mee Krob.  Crunchy, sweet noodles with two shrimp on top.  I think this was the first time I tried their rendition.  It was very good.

For a main entree my wife had a bowl of the Tom Kha Gai soup.  Sometimes she has it as a starter and sometimes as her main.  She loves this soup.  Spicy, coconut milk, chicken and mushrooms.

One of my regular dishes is the simplistic Chicken Gai Yang.  Half of a roast chicken served over grilled squash and string beans.  It comes with a spicy/sweet dipping sauce and a portion of sticky rice.  It is delicious.

Sorry that we didn't invite you SB.  It was a last minute plan.

Service is always very good and friendly.

I posted pics of the aforementioned four courses.

I'm not the biggest fan of Thai, but my wife wanted to go out on Saturday and this place was closer than Ridge Thai in Ridgewood so we decided to try it out.  I love that it's BYOB - a big money saver.

We called around 3 and got a 7:00 reservation and when got there we sat down right away.  There was no one waiting at the time, but after about 15 minutes there were quite a few people waiting.

We started with Steamed Thai dumplings which were fine until my wife got something hard in one of her bites.  We were both grossed out and didn't finish them.  The waiter later took these off our bill when we told him so that was appreciated.

The pork fried rice was very good, but a little expensive.  I wanted to try the pineapple fried rice, but was overruled by the wife but I'll try that next time.  My wife got the duck basil which I'm told was spicy, moist and tasty (I don't like duck).

I got cashew nut chicken which I thought was going to be spicy (can't remember for sure if the menu indicated spicy) but was not at all.  The chicken was dry and it seemed like they just threw some veggies, pre-cooked chicken and sauce in a pan for a couple of minutes.   It didn't have enough flavor and was dry.

We got the creme brulee for dinner, and for $5.50 it was a good deal.  Very tasty with a good crunchy top.  A good ending to the night.

The tables are a little close, and the decoration is nothing special, but the food wasn't too bad and we'll give it another shot.  The service was pretty good until the end when our waiter was nowhere to be found.  Plus, I'm not one to long for 2 hour meals, but can't they give us a minute before the food comes out?  We no sooner ordered and the appetizer came out, and the dinner came out only about 10 minutes after we first sat down.  Too quick!

I'm with Linda M....the food was great, entrees and aps reasonably priced and the service was good as well.  The ambiance does, however, leave a lot to be desired.

We started with the crabmeat and shrimp steamed dumplings with spicy soy dipping sauce and then each had a special, some kind of peanut chicken which tasted delightfully like candy as well as the mussels with lemongrass and fresh basil - yum!

We asked for a dessert menu but after seeing they charge about $7 for ice cream we went down the street to Dairy Queen.

I would give this place 5 stars but the ambiance and decor was a total miss.  If you enjoy the retro 80's art/deco feel, then this is for you. Other than that, the food was amazing!

Surprisingly, I came here on a Friday night without a reservation and got a table without waiting.  The prices was very reasonable as the other yelper's mentioned.  Here is what I ordered off the menu:

Green papaya salad: Absolutely delicious!!!  It came with 2 shrimp although I wish it came with more...but the portion was plenty.  You can eat this as an entree if you're watching your figure :)  The lime juice & chili dressing was great...it was slightly on the sweet side but nothing too worry about.

Spicy Sausage Salad: If you ever eaten  "lop cheung," aka Chinese sausage, this is the sausage that's in the salad.  Unfortunately the tomatoes in the salad were soggy, had to push those aside.

Green Curry (with beef) - very good...good portion size too.

Fried Red Snapper (my sauce choice: Pla rad prik - tamarind sauce, chili, garlic & cilantro): Sauce is slightly sweet due to the tamarind but  again, great dish. Watch out for the bones and eat carefully.

The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was very comfortable.  I will definitely come back here nextime to try the noodles.

Kudos to my co-worker on the recommendation!

    All I can say is...

When the girl from Thailand (not me) and the picky eater guy she's dating can eat there every time they're in the area I'm pretty sure that means the food is pretty darn good. (True story, I swear.)

This place has delicious, authentic Thai food with reasonable prices ($10 for red curry w/ chicken) and gets crowded on a weekend (which seems surprising because this place doesn't have the best location, nor is it that obviously seen from the road) . I'm definitely not a fan of the ambiance (it seems cramped and dark to me because there aren't a lot of windows) but the food keeps me coming back.

Definitely try their grilled beef, various curries, and fried banana w/ ice cream dessert.
