Room was pretty great. Stayed in the villas. Free wifi did not work. That was a downer. Beautiful view of the beach though.

Loved it. We'd go back in a minute. I like how it's off the beaten path and really quite compared to the main strip. The only drawback has nothing to do with the hotel. There's only one road in and one road out so in high season you can expect to wait for quite a while to get in or out.

I highly recommend Pink Shell.  I go here 2 or 3 times per year with my wife and 2 daughters.  The views are spectacular and the activities are great.  I keep coming back and have yet to find a resort that suits us better than the Pink Shell!

This place is awesome!!  Took our teenage son and kids 4,7,and 9 there is something for everyone.  Teens can walk to Times square and hang out, while the little people are kept occupied by the great staff at the resort.  We got to sneak away to the spa for a little peace and quiet.  Dont miss the wave runner excursion- terrific fun.

First off the Pink Shell Resort consists of 3 different buildings.... the main building houses the registration desk, the marketplace store, the bar, 2 of 3 restaurants, the largest & most elaborate pool of the 3 buildings, & this is where all the activities are held... the rooms in the main building are obviously the "deluxe" rooms as well.... the 2nd building has the kiddie pool.. still super nice.. just going from the outside of the 3 buildings.. the 3rd building, from the outside... looks more like maybe a best western... very plain & desolate. Once inside our room however.... was another story! Our room was immaculately clean & updated furnishings. Large flat screen tv, dvd player, granite countertops in bathroom & kitchenette, ceramic top stove (if u wanted to actually cook), plush bed & linens, even 2 bathrobes to use during our stay! Our room had a private balcony w/ direct ocean view! For the accomodations, staff, service, etc I have NO complaints!! I live in miami and frequent ft myers beach every summer... I usually try out a different hotel each time... but I'd be more than happy to make this my regular spot!
My only complaint was the killer jurrasic mosquitos on attack!!! I dont even know how many pints of blood I lost... :-/

This is a very nice hotel. Directly on the beach with a great octopus swimming pool. They have a bar with food also. Also a nice place to stay.

July 13th - 18th 2011 stay.  Original room in beach villas unit 7106.  Air didn't work on 90 degree day they did nothing the first night.  Tried the ceiling fans and bedroom wobbled and made a loud metal grinding noise obvious signs of bad bearings.  Then neither the small bedroom fan nor living room fan worked.  Used the washer right away and it sounded like a jet plane... I video tapped all of this.  I couldn't believe this myself.  I called the front desk and let them hear the noise from the washer... They said someone would come up but by midnight we called and there was no one available.  So, next day went to front desk let the manager see video of fans, air thermostat at 91 degrees and washer... They said someone would be there to fix it for sure that day.  I got a call in a few hours and said they can't fix it so hook us up in main tower room 5501.  Walking in to a much better room!  5 stars in view, modernizations, shower view, air worked (that night), tv's had been upgraded.  However on our 3rd night or 2nd night in new room the air quit working there.  Called again.  They sent an engineer up and he told me it was because I had the doors open??? He came up at 9am we just woke up and the only time when we had the door open that night was when we went to room to go to bed at 10pm then at 9am to answer the door.... I'm not in hvac but I know enough to know when there is ice build up on the lines which I showed him that is a leak or blockage in the line.  Later on as we left and it got fixed I saw the guy he was with and asked him what it was he said they cleaned the coils and there must have been a blockage.  2 things you don't need while on vacation... Broken air in hot humid weather and engineers with attitude topped off with staff barley caring what your issues are.  On to the rest... The breakfast coupons they give you when you register was good, the buffet was decent it's a bump up from continental with a omelet and waffle stand but good.  There no signage where any place is within the 3 complexes not even when you get in the elevator do you know what floor to hit in the captive tower.  The weight room is NOT state of the art!  It's a very small and odd center.

"splash park" we didn't go to we have older kids.  Good for 5 and below.  It's only a few tube trees that spout water nothing great.  Basically a separate area for small kids.  Main pool was nice.  Shaped like a figure 8.  The water fall in the middle turned on at 10am daily but off by 1??  In the middle of the day everyday...wtf??

Avoid renting beach umbrellas or water sports... Go down the road but avoid... The no shirt beach cowboy hat wearing big beer belly old guy was utterly rude to a level I've not experienced when buying something... Avoid at all costs...

Avoid the jojo restaurant.  Especially the highly advertised prime rib, overdone, seemed like a "no roll" class of meat something you'd get at a crappy all you eat buffet.  I couldn't eat it.  My son had a burger which was surprisingly good.  The cup of chili my daughter had was hormel at best.

Be well prepared to stop and get groceries.  Other than a few spots by the times square you will not find real good food,  cook what you like in the room.  Eat at pierside bar at times square, yucatan bar and the surf pie all worth it.  Definitely get ice cream at the kilms.

Worth a stay as long as you don't have the frustration of something going wrong and your prepared for these tips.

Doesn't feel like a resort and spa is no where to be found... Oh and "resort" offered nothing in the way of a discount for our problems.

This was a very pretty hotel.  My friend and I had a room so high up but the view of the ocean was incredible.  I wasnt there with my husband and kids so I have to say I didnt have the best time there because for once I really wanted a place that didnt have loads of kids.  The pool got pretty packed during the day and there was much lounging and relaxing with the chaos.  The staff was very nice and our room was beautiful.  I recommend this place for families.  Not a girls weekend

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Pink Shell resort while shooting a wedding this December.

As a Florida native, I'd actually been to this hotel on a family vacation as a kid, but I don't remember it at all.  The hotel has been renovated since my childhood days (not THAT long ago, but still it's nice to keep things modern!) and it is a beautiful resort.

We were there close to Christmas and the hotel was decorated nicely for the holiday.  Christmas in Florida is always a funny thing, since it's always so warm :)  But after all, that's why you visit in the winter isn't it??

Instead of hotel keys, everyone wears bracelets that have sensors that unlock your room for you.  The bracelets also grant you access to all the pools and anywhere else in the hotel that you'd like to go.

I thought it was great because it keeps the locals who are not guests from "hotel hopping" from one pool to another as is common in some vacation spots.

The service we received when we checked in was outstanding.  I'd booked the room and prepaid online through AAA and forgot to pack my voucher that I was supposed to present.  It wasn't an issue at all!  Upon arriving they were already all set for us and had our welcome packet ready to go.

There are a couple of restaurants on site that we didn't get to go to as well as a couple of bars.  We received a free drink coupon in our welcome packet, but forgot to use it when we actually had drinks, whoops!

Maredith was the member of the staff in charge of the wedding and she did an AMAZING job making everything run smoothly.

The beachfront ceremony site was set up perfectly and in a timely fashion and she was very helpful with any little thing that needed to be done.

The catering staff was great and flexible.  They created a mashed potato bar and macaroni and cheese bar at the bride's request, even though they'd never done that for a wedding before.

The rest of the food served at the wedding was great!

The only random thing that wasn't ideal was the hotel didn't have any late night dining options.  When we got back to the room after the wedding I was a bit hungry and there was no late night room service.  That sort of thing won't even affect 95% of guests, so it's not a big deal.

I will note that when we called the front desk to inquire about late night food choices, they said that they'd be happy to open up the gift shop for us to select some snacks.  I wasn't starving, so I decided that it wasn't worth it, but I was thankful that they'd make the effort.

We stayed in a regular room and declined the upgrade (about $50 extra per day) we were offered at check in.  The room was spacious and included a balcony overlooking the ocean and a kitchenette.

The toiletries are by Tommy Bahama and smell AMAZING!  Seriously, they're awesome and we made sure to get some extra from housekeeping so we could travel with them for our next few trips :)

The bride stayed in one of the large suites and it was gorgeous.  Complete with two separate balconies, one overlooking the gulf and the other overlooking the intracoastal, it was beautiful.  The balcony facing the intracoastal had a good sized hot tub too.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel for either a wedding or a family vacation.

The pools are clean and plentiful, there are a good number of beachfront vehicle rental options, and the hotel is only about 15 minutes away from the Ft. Myers airport.

A great choice for the West Coast of Florida!

Wow, where to begin? Idyllic location, excellent facilities, attentive and friendly staff. We spent four days at Pink Shell with our two-year-old. We were treated extremely well. Affordable, too. Staff (especially wait staffers Suzann and Ryan) really did all they could to make our kiddo and us comfortable. Only bummer was the spa was closed for remodeling. Thanks Pink Shell!

I had the opportunity to stay at the Pink shell as well as host an event there.

I cannot express what an all around wonderful experience this was.

The resort itself really is a great destination that leaves a visitor wanting for nothing: First class accommodations Pool-side bar and restaurants, readily available beach access and professional staff.

The pool alone calls for a review all by itself.

My only regret about my stay hear was, as this was a business trip, not brining along my family.

I heart the Pink Shell.  My family has been coming here long before it became the beautiful resort it is today back when you had lunch by the pool at Coconuts.  Back then it was a lot less going on but still a relaxing, beautiful place to spend your vacation.

Fast forward 10 years and you find me planning my "destination" wedding in SW Florida.  Living in Miami it's not like it was that far for us, but all of our guests would be traveling for the wedding.  Coming back to the Pink Shell we were in awe of how much it has changed. It is now so much bigger and more polished.

The biggest draw to this place is the beach and the water.  It's on the north tip of Estero Island and has the Gulf on one side, and the intercoastal water across the street.  All the rooms in the place are Gulf view and most have floor to ceiling windows overlooking the view.  The rooms are well appointed with kitchenettes, living room areas, and screen porches overlooking the gulf.  The bathroom products are H2O brand, ocean themed products that are great.

The property has many amenities on site including multiple restaurants, poolside bar with great frozen drinks to enjoy in the sun, the beautiful main pool and also the old pool that is much quieter if you want to get away from the crowd.  There is a vendor with beach chairs and water sports on site, and also pontoon boat rentals across the street.  There is a butterfly garden and many activities for children every day.

Nearby is the Fort Myers beach boardwalk area with restaurants and shops.  It is a bit of a walk but definitely do-able.  Our favorite hangout in the area is SOB's with live entertainment and fresh seafood.

Our wedding at the Pink Shell was absolutely perfect.  Our guests loved their mini beach vacation.  The staff is amazing and worked with us throughout the process to make everything perfect.  It ended up raining, so we didn't get to have the ceremony on the beach, we did the ceremony under the roof near the pool and it was still lovely.  The food and service at the reception was great, and everyone had an awesome time.

The only cons about the property, that keep it from being a true 5 star hotel, are that there is no room service, and the restaurants close pretty early.  We've never had a negative impact to our stays because of these minor details.  There are a lot of places to eat in the area, especially if you have a rental car to get around.

I would recommend the Pink Shell to anyone, from couples to families or groups of friends you will love it here!!

I came to this resort for a beach wedding, but the inclement weather brought the wedding inside on very short notice and the outcome of the event couldn't have been better.  The staff was very accomdating to the bride and groom and still made the wedding special even though it had to be inside.  The food at the reception was amazing and the wait staff was so pleasant.

The rest of our stay was nice too.  Hotel staff from the front desk to cleaning crew was so friendly.  Prices were very reasonable and the room sizes were large.  We ate at the Bongo Bar and the food was very prompt and not priced too high.

well, I did not stay at this resort, but I did come here for a wedding reception. You can hardly miss the Pink Shell Beach Resort because it's big, pink, and has a giant shell on the building. There's a beautiful staircase from the reception area to the beach. It was very picturesque as the bride and groom descended the staircase.

The food for the wedding was provided by the resort and it was muy delicioso. The hors'devours were delectable. They served crab cakes, salmon on biscuit, grilled shrimp; and artichoke, olive, and cheese kabob. They were all very good. The reception offered either chicken, steak, and fish. The chicken was a winner! The seasoning and texture was purrfect. I'm glad I selected the chicken. According to the mother-in-law, the steak was like "butta". I think some people like this texture, but I actually prefer my steak more done. The fish was too cooked and was slightly rubbery around the edges; it was my least favorite. The appetizer was lobster ravioli and it was very yummy in my tummy. I always find some seafood dishes are way too salty. The lobster ravioli was not dry, had a perfect texture, and tasted just right. Man, if only they  gave you more than 3 pieces! The salad was ok; it was a spring mix with a long thin slice of bread that served as our big crouton. That was something new.

I'm sure the catered food may be found on the resort's restaurant menu. I highly recommend the chicken.

I thought I was flying to Florida the day after Christmas. The burst water pipe in the US Airways terminal of Reagan had other plans for me. After three hours of airport shenanigans I grumpily Red Lined back to my apartment and spent the next two days stuck in DC, bumming around.

    (a) It sucked I was missing out on vacation time with my boyfriend, but (b) I was also missing out on room service, finding my bed magically made every afternoon, heavy-on-the-booze frozen drinks, dive-in movies (heehee), and delicious breakfast buffets.

I finally arrived on Monday to a beautiful view from a private balcony and tiny boutique shampoos in the showers. Did I mention I love small versions of big things?

In addition to being located smack dab on the beach, Pink Shell is in walking distance of bars, restaurants with dockside dining and all the tacky tourist swag shops your heart could possibly desire. It is also within driving distance of a SuperTarget(!) and outlet shopping(!!). If that's not enough fun, the resort itself provides access to jetskis, parasailing and those silly pontoon bikes that work on land and in the ocean.

Why did I leave again? :(
