Reggae Nights on Thursdays are a lot of fun. Reggae music ranges from Island reggae (jboog, fiji, etc) to the "real" reggae (???). I prefer these nights to the usual Friday nights at POPs, unless they have live reggae bands there which are fun to listen and watch.
The ambience is like any other bar, very sporty. The lighting is a bit low for my taste but I'm sure it has its advantages for all those creepers sitting around staring at everyone.
True definition of a dive bar. Â Got invited to watch Giants games here and really wasn't comfortable from the get go. Â The TVs were too small to see from my table. Â There was a super rowdy party in the back with yelling and glass breaking every 15 minutes or so. Â The place never got more than half full and it seemed to be more older drinking regulars than anything. Â
Pete's might have seen it's better days but if you want a spot that has drinks at a good price, you might enjoy it more than I did.
Parking is tough on nearby streets.
