The Richmond

Excellent service and cute ambiance. Went here for a special date night and we were not disappointed. We shared the beef short rib and scallop over polenta (favorite thing we had), and then the pan-fried chicken and the hangar steak. All were solid but the appetizer was the most flavorful and interesting. Wine selection is solid and reasonably priced. They also do a tasting menu for $50/person which is very good in comparison to other SF restos. The cheesecake for dessert was unfortunately not impressive. I would come back but I'm not rushing back.

I have walked by here about 8-9 years ago (when I was in high school), curious about what this place was all about. At that time, I was young and inexperienced... didn't know much about Yelp or good food, but definitely thought this was a fancy place to go to. It had dim lighting with lots of small tables, making it look like a perfect place for a quiet evening in a neighborhood spot. Ahh... What a wonderful night that would have been. But somehow I had forgotten about this place until last week when I took my good friend here for her birthday. I can honestly say we had a wonderful time here, enjoying some wine and catching up.

The service here was amazing. The two servers that were there were very attentive, friendly, and just plain wonderful. When I told the waitress that we were celebrating my friend's birthday, she brought her a little dessert with a candle on it, on the house! I could appreciate this place a lot for its service and ambience.

My friend and I each had a glass of wine although I cannot remember what they were anymore. I just know I got a glass of red wine and my friend had a white wine. No complaints about them. I think next time that I come, I'll definitely be choosing a bottle of wine from their extensive wine list and really just enjoy my wine.

As for the food, I liked my linguini with clams. I couldn't finish it but it was good. I love my pasta :) My friend's salmon was pretty good but slightly dry.

Regardless, this really is a great place for a date and so I will be taking my boyfriend here soon! Until next time, The Richmond......
