Just enjoyed a delicious meal of ChickenMarsala at the Pizza Pub. It was recommended to us by the owners of the condo we are renting. Now I know why they were so keen on this place. Â It's just a little Mom and Pop place in a strip plaza, but it gets 5 stars for being delicious ,friendly and so reasonably priced. It was the best chicken Marsala I've had since New YorkCity. Â Our waitress "Pilar" was so sweet and helpful.
We will definitely be returning here and would highly recommend to anyone. Â Get there early cause and be prepared to wait ..
Delicious pizza. Some of the best. Service is hit and miss. They forgot my garlic bread when I ordered carry out the other night. When I brought it to their attention the young lady asked if I was sure that I ordered it. This coming from the same person that took my order and asked me if I wanted cheese on the garlic bread. Would be 5 stars if not for the inconsistent service.
Review Source:Let me admit, I am not one to write reviews although I do rely on them fairly often. Â However, after today's experience at the Pizza Pub, I feel overly compelled to give my two-cents on the matter.
First and foremost, the food in there looked and smelled amazing. Â Today marked my first (and last!) visit to the Pizza Pub along with my 5 yr. old son and my mother, as well. Â My son was hungry for a snack so we thought this would be a perfect opportunity to venture something new with only drinks and an appetizer for our order. Â Once I explained this to our waitress, she bluntly and sarcastically asked, "Oh, that's it? Â You're not going to order from the menu?" Â The look on her face was only half the battle. Â Nonetheless, tried to give her the benefit of the doubt knowing it was a crowded day and maybe she was just a little stressed--albeit, hoping she would soften her tone in manner and speaking.
Once my son had finally finished eating, I went to the front counter to pay. Â The lady at the register was very rude as she forcefully grabbed the bill and card from my hand. Â There was absolutely no effort to speak, offer friendliness, or even inquire about our dining experience. Â Again--benefit of the doubt...
Upon paying and returning to the table, my son noticed the girls talking behind the counter and brought it to my attention. Â He originally thought they were talking to him when, in fact, upon better understanding, they were talking about me. Â He then turned to me and asked, "What's wrong, Mommy? Â Why are they talking to you like that?" Â I responded, to my son only, "Some people are just not very friendly," (in an effort to teach him that there is a proper way to act and their actions were not fitting whatsoever). Â Of course, hindsight says I should have never said it...and, could teach that lesson many other ways, I know. Â To make matters worse, it didn't help that we were seated only approx. 5 steps from the front counter/register area.
Next thing I knew (as I'm sure the rest of the pub did, too), our waitress leaned forward and blurted, "You're telling YOUR SON that WE'RE not friendly?!"
Now, anyone that knows me will automatically tell you that I am, in no shape or form, a confrontational person. Â So, when this happened, I quickly gathered my son and headed for the door thinking my mother was right behind us. Turned around only to find out she respectfully refused to leave until she could speak to a manager.
At that point, our waitress walked around the counter toward my mother, arms waving and fingers pointing, " Are you talking to me? Â Are you REALLY talking to me?!"
My mother sat there, ever so stoic, and politely asked again, "I'd like to speak to a manager. Â Who is your manager?" Â Took about 4-5 times of her asking before our waitress finally yelled, "We're both managers here!"--referencing the lady at the register.
With that, I turned back toward the register to address the other 'manager'. Â Before I could even get a word in edgewise, she began to rant about how they're friendly and, "How are we NOT friendly?" Â Again, sheer sarcasm here. Â I then responded, as calmly as I could, "Look--how would you like to do this? Â Here for the public to see? Â Or, would you like to communicate like adults and discuss this in private?" Â Lo and behold, she immediately slammed her hands on the counter so hard it was as if all time stood still in a split second. Â I took one quick glance around only to realize we really had an audience this time. Â Not a single fork moved. Â Shortly thereafter, she then yelled, "You want a scene? Â I'll give you your scene!" Â At which point I was highly confused because that was the very thing I had been trying so hard to avoid--not only for the sake of public decency but, ultimately, for the sake of my son who had to endure it all. Â I have never, in my entire life, been treated with such a disrespect or a disservice, for that matter. Â And, it all ended with her flailing her arms at me to leave...at which she screamed, "Go on. Get out of here. Â GET OUT OF HERE! Â We don't need people like you!"
So, here I am, writing this review in hopes to shed light on this very unfortunate situation. Â I feel almost sad that I have researched and found a few other reviews that reveal this isn't the first time this has happened at the Pizza Pub. Â While I can't speak for those reviewers, I can honestly assure you, if there is a lesson to be learned, treat people with respect. Â It goes a long way...especially if you're running a business and looking to keep it.
For anyone reading this, if you bore witness to this wild event today, I sincerely and truly apologize. Â It was never my intention for any of this to happen. Â And, furthermore, I can only hope the owners/managers will take note and learn proper business etiquette from this day forward.
I've been going to Pizza Pub ever since I was a kid growing up in south Florida. Such a great little italian restaurant with great character and great food. In such a small strip mall, many people wouldn't notice it, but definitely worth seeking out.
Their pizza and pasta are both fantastic. I strongly recommend the spaghetti and meatballs (especially on all you can eat night). The garlic bread with cheese is fantastic as well. The servers and owners have been there for years and are very friendly, prompt, and courteous.
The wait can get a bit longer on the weekends, however it is definitely worth it.
