This is not Pete & Lenny's for sure but the music is electric and dancing is the reason to go to Platforms.

We had a great time.  Drinks are very reasonable.  Parking is difficult.

We find swing/lindy dance venues all over the world and frequent Swing 46, The Cotton Club etc because we live in the NYC area.  Initally reluctant about Platforms because it suggests 1970s disco music and that's not our interest, it seems they offer a good variety of  music styles on different nights of the week.  When I first walked in the stripper pole on the upper level  seemed a little creepy, but after that the place is just fun.  The night we were there they had Frankie Manning in HellsA Poppin playing on the tv screens along with many other great moments in Lindy.  If you don't know Lindy, check out Frankie on youtube -- he invented Lindy in Harlem's Savoy nightclub in the 1930s.  Even if you only like hiphop, if you can't appreciate this, you're just wrong.  Anyway, the decor at Platforms is fun, the crowd is friendly and there is tons of room to dance, even if the black and white dance floor is full.   Two talented warm and enthusiastic dance teachers were available throughout the night -- dancers of all levels were very welcome on the dance floor -- and seriously, some people had never tried swing dancing before and had a blast.  As always with a lindy crowd, tons of young people (because it is so athletic) mix with people from that generation who know their way around a dance floor  --  walk right in and feel at home.  The only thing I can say about the guy who gave a two star review because he is uncomfortable around different generations is that in another of one of his reviews he referred to soda as "awesome."

OMG LOL.  This place is so tacky and empty.  Full of the older crowd 40-60's.  It's cool if you fall into that range and love 70's-90's music and dancing like a fool with the rest of them.

Delivers on the promise of 70s, 80s, and 90s music. Crowd is mostly mid 30s to mid 50s. Friendly and attentive wait staff.

Went there last night for something different.  I don't frequent bars but this place was fun.  Full bar but no food although they got us in a pizza from a nearby restaurant.  What I enjoyed most about this place was that there was a wide array of people there.  College kids, professional folks and older people.  Love the music here.  They usually play 70s music from what I'm told but last night was 80s-90s which was really reminiscent of high school for me.  We met a very nice couple that was sitting next to us at the bar which was cool.  I will go back to this place.
