Some friends decided to go to their favorite watering hole, Players, after we had sushi at Kanpai one night. Â My husband and I decided to go with them and check out what they had deemed "the coolest little divey punk bar in Bend". Â
And they were right--Players IS a divey little bar.  When you first walk in, there is a pool table in the middle of the room.  In the back left corner is the wooden bar, reminiscent of the Elks Lodge bar I used to frequent back in my college days in Flagstaff, AZ.  The rest of the room is scattered with formica tables, vinyl 70's dinette chairs and  a few well-worn booths. Â
This is the wonderful simplicity of Players. Â It's casual, it's comfortable, it's free of pretense. Â It's just a fun little dimly-lit dive bar where people drink cheap beer and chain smoke Parliaments. Â It isn't spendy, it isn't trendy--it's the perfect bar to just hang out as you are. Â So if you like doing the dive bar thing every now and then and don't mind the smoke, head on over to Players. Â And if you bring your iPod, they'll hook it up to the stereo and let you play dj.
