First I have to have to say that I never write critiques. Most of the time of something was amiss at food or drink establishment I would just quietly leave and never go back. I do feel that I need to say something about Bend d'Vine. I have been going there on and off since they first opened over a year ago. At first it was really great. Music, fun and great value. New owners took over and have been trying to do a good job - but have failed. The energy is just flat. No music (unless you pay a cover to listen). Wine pours are really small and seem to get smaller as time goes on. I argued about the small pour and they insisted it was 6 oz. No way. It was more like 4 oz. Seems like the place is going downhill and the owners are trying to save money by giving less and less.
Review Source:I originally put a 5 star review for this establishment but I am updating it due to the consistent issues we've had here. Â The wine pours are ridiculously small!!! Â They charge $9 for a glass of wine that costs $20-25 bottle and give smaller pours than a restaurant. Â This has happened the last 3 times we've been in so it's not just a one time fluke. Â The chocolate plates are ridiculously small as well. Â For the price we felt that 3-4 people should be able to have a taste - not the case. There was barely enough for 2 people to have a "taste". Â Not a bite, but a taste. Â I am comparing this to any other high end restaurant in town where you can purchase dessert for $7-9 dollars and there is enough for 3-4 people to share much more than a taste! Â Also compare to chocolatiers in the Portland area - this price point will provide an adequate amount. Â
The service has been bad as well. Â The owner spends so much time chatting people up he ignores other patrons sitting and waiting. Â It's fine if he wants to do this but then hire help to attend to other patrons. Â For the prices charged they need to play the part! Â Employ the staff and service to warrant these prices!
In my opinion the service, pours, and portions need to increase to match the price point being charged here.
