I was at players this past Sunday for their 1st brunch. Â Food was AWESOME, Drinks were AWESOME, Music was AWESOME, Atmosphere was AWESOME and the bartenders are the best in the area. Â Overall, I give this place 5 stars and I plan on going back often. Â I love what the new owners are doing with this place. Â I mean...where else can you go to find a bar staff on trend when it comes to fashion. Â LOVE the neon t-shirts and sweatshirts, very cool!
Review Source:The pizza is the only food I have tried here, and it is very good, but the service is TERRIBLE! The waitress was extremely ditzy and all but ignored us, and there weren't that many people in there, so it's not like she was busy. We waited FOREVER for the pizza, so that's not the waitresses fault, but the cook must have fallen asleep in the kitchen! I know pizza takes longer than some other foods, but 1/2 hour? Really? I don't get why it took that long! We were starved, and one of the people in our party had to leave before the food came - that's how long it took! Another time I went in there to get take-out pizza, and yep - you guessed it - it took 1/2 hour! There wasn't a single person at any of the tables (just people sitting at the bar), so I stood there for 1/2 hour wondering how it could possibly be taking that long when I was the only customer ordering food....but what was really unbelievable is that when the pizza finally came out of the kitchen it was COLD! REALLY? How long had that pizza been sitting there while I was standing there like an idiot waiting for it? Been there twice, horrible service both times - don't care how good the pizza is, I am not going back - done with that place! Don't order food there unless you are NOT hungry!
Review Source:I LOVE this place! $3 pizzas on Monday nights (and I think during any sporting event - plus the pizza is PHENOMINAL!), $2 drafts, and extensive menu and I've pretty much tried it all and I can't complain! They also have 25 cent wings in 10 different dipping sauces and flavors that are delicious plus buckets of Bud (5) for $13! Are you kidding? They have specials on Sunday and Monday nights, Karaoke Tuesdays, and bands during the weekends. GREAT PLACE to watch the PATRIOTS! Â The bartenders are great! I've been coming there with my husband for a long time and since Bob, the new owner, took over, things have been AMAZING! Â My husband and I watch sporting events here and come here when we drop our kids off at hockey next door and have some pizza, then when the kids are done, we bring em over for more pizza and wings and they love it! Yes, it's kid friendly. It gets a little loud on Friday nights but otherwise the place is great. Not too fond of the girl with the curly brown hair who works on (I think) Wednesday and Friday nights. She has a horrible attitude and seems to just stand around as we have empty glasses and want to order food. Otherwise, we come on other nights and this place is a gold mine! Good job, Bob! We will make this our comfort food stop and spread the word!
By the way, they are also open for lunch 7 days a week and it's a great stop for in between work or errands!
The pluses..er plus. Â The food here is actually good bar grub! Â Pizza is very yummy, burgers are good and the fried pickles are outstanding!
This isn't a terrible place to catch a game or grab post-work drinks - but unless you are 22, think looking good means extra self-tanner, extra large baseball hats and bad tattoos and having fun means getting wasted on Jaegermeister shots - its worth skipping..
After we left The Cellar (it got shut down on Halloween) we came here, as did everybody else we'd been drinking with. This bar is significantly larger than The Cellar. It looks kinda like a function hall.
They had four bartenders rushing around, efficiently (it seemed) serving everybody - they didn't seem to have a great amount of beers on tap, which is kind of foreign to me in a sports bar. I had to stick with a safe alternative to my preferred beer: Heineken all night.
They have live entertainment almost every night, it seems, and the night that we went there was a rapper performing. It was not the best live rap I've ever heard, somewhat following in the footsteps of Ludacris too much, but whatever. It got the crowd going, and kept them moving around.
I was surprised to find this place charging a cover - it must have been the only bar for miles, and the show was not that great. I don't think I would go here again if it were up to me.
Have your whole week planned of places to drink after/before work except that elusive unicorn of a day, Monday? Fear no more!
Mondays at Players is where I go.
Usually from 9pm on they have a giant beirut tournament with different prizes and giveaways all night. I've gotten to know the DJ and his wife and they host these weekly at different bars for different days. If you like beirut then you'll enjoy coming here and almost reliving some college party at a bar with lots of people your age.
If you're a creepy old man this is also a good place to sign up as a single player and then slip the DJ some money to match you up with a chick who has no partner and is a freshman at college with questionable standards of whats normal and sexy. Impregnation will obviously follow after 5 courtesy rounds of drinks to your partner.
The bartenders are always nice here and they have I believe 3 dollar pizzas which are amazing. The PBR's are very cheap on Mondays if you wanna be low class and cheap! (me). The prize for the winning team is $25 dollars each to the bar, which usually covers my tab. And grand prizes on special nights range from cruises, to trips to the world series of beer pong at Vegas and such with hotel and beer included! Signing up for the ruit tourney on a normal night is about 5 dollars, and 25 dollars for big nights.
One time I paid my tab off with my winning gift card, but I also got charged on my credit card, so keep your eye out for people working there who aren't sure how to use the gift card.
Lots of pool tables, and dart boards (10+) and good mix of ages and culture here. Highly recommended to check it out!
On several Monday nights (of all nights) I've found myself here at Players Sports Bar. Â Why do you ask? Â Because I'm an alcoholic? Â Nope. Â Because I have nothing better to do? Â Sometimes. Â But mostly because every Monday night they hold Pub Pong tournaments through USA Pub Pong. Â
Tournaments vary in cost between $5 - $20 depending on how big the prize is for the night. Â Teams of two, 8+ tables set up for a fun-filled night of good clean fun! Â For those who have never heard of it, Pub Pong is the college favorite game of beirut/beer pong whichever you may call it. Â Cups are filled with water and a ping pong ball is aimed to sink in these targets. Â Prizes vary from bar gift certificates, to sports game tickets, to free trips to play in bigger tournaments in Vegas and Atlantic City! Â
The bar itself employees extremely friendly bartenders who are quick with service. Â PBR Draft on Mondays are only $2! Â Great deal. Â Bar pizzas available for what I'm pretty sure is $3. Â Cheap, fun time. Â Very large interior. Â Enough room to hold those who just stay on the bar side or travel over to the extra room with competitions. Â Not sure what goes on any other night here but I'm sure it's just as great.
Always thought Players was more of a strip jointy kinda place but the name is deceiving! Â Just a bar with a great atomsphere and even friendlier patrons. Â I will continue to drive by the AA Meetings at the local church in Holbrook, MA on my way to drink it up on Monday nights in Rockland!
