We love coming here! Monday Nights they have Kareoke night starting at 9pm. We come this night because its less crowded and don't have to deal with all the drunks. Friday and Saturday nights are also Kareoke which we have gone to but it is packed and a lot of people drinking and its hard to get a few songs to sing in. The best night to actually sing is Monday nights. Friendly staff and quick service. The food is really good and if you want to eat or drink wait till there are specials going, will save you some money.
Review Source:A must try if you are seeking Sports Sports and more Sports. The only place to watch your game(or multiple game at the same time) is here! They have it all!!! Great food and drinks. They have almost any game you want usually (unless its blacked out for some reason.) They also get things like Pac 12 network & all the packages for those hard to find games. And sometimes its nice to be able to sit back with your beer and simply ask a lovely bartender to please find the golf and also the baseball game . So awesome .Staff is friendly and informed about ongoing sporting events. You cannot find better "bar food" than this place. The Philly Cheese steak is so delicious here. And my friend had to take half her burger home , it was so big! So many things to choose from..They have buzztime trivia/poker which is so fun and extremely addictive. Darts ,foosball, and Karaoke on Sat.,Fri.,& Mon. Nights. The sound system here is no joke ,it sounds so increadible you won't want to sing anywhere but here. I am totally spoiled for life now. They have a great selection of beer and spirits and the staff are more than willing to try to make you something special or make a suggestion if they don't have what you like. I never leave here disappointed .
Review Source:I have been here many times and it is the same everytime. Â This place is a money machine. Â The food is pretty expensive for what it is. Â Basket of wings is like $9.49 for 8 wings. Â There wings taste good but more like 5 bucks good not 10 bucks ridiculous.
The service is spotty. Â Some waitresses are on it and things go great but other times the waitresses are distracted by other patrons. Â It almost has a hooters feel inside with how the waitresses try to upsell you. Â The drinks are expensive and metered out to the last drop. Â You will not get a strong drink in here unless you tip heavily or order a double but you will have to pay either way.
Carmelitas and the Stockman pour much stronger drinks. Â I have always felt if you are going to charge allot for your drinks you might as well pour them decent. Â I would imagine these drinks are so light their pour costs on the liquor are at 11-13% of sales. Â I get that this is a business to make money and hey of they can get away with it then so be it. Â I just don't want to be the sucker paying it. Â Order beer if you must go here.
Karaoke here on a Friday night is excellent. Â The sound system is really good and the waitresses keep the drinks coming. Â The only setback is there are a high amount of singers. Â You'll be lucky to get two songs in for the night. Â However the atmosphere is fun and the crowd is always energetic.
Review Source:One of the best hot pastrami sandwiches in Sacramento ! Grilled just right with killer Swiss cheese! Crisscut fries are our favorite, especially when you go garlic style! Way better than average pub food! NY steak bites on garlic bread a killer deal for a great quality cook to temp steak!!!
Review Source:I didn't like the prices, the bartender, the emptiness. Â Wasn't busy even for MNF and the bartender was a total dud. Â Zero personality and I just cannot stand when a bartender takes my order, my money, gives me my drink, then walks away. Â Especially when they don't have much else to do since there are not a lot of people in the place. Â I would have to guess that's why, it was BORING!!!!
Review Source:$2.50 for a coke, $1.25 per refill?! Â i was getting punk'd right?
$13.95 for defrosted appetizer platter of 4 small chicken "tenders", 4 wings, 6 onion rings, handful of criss cut fries with hfcs bbq sauce and ranch. Â
times sure have changed Player's! Â i noticed they draw an even seedier crowd, if you can believe that, and you probably couldn't cut the attitude with a chainsaw. Â yes, it's that bad. Â eff that, no thanks...
Every time I come here, I feel like I'm gatecrashing a private party. People huddled in groups around their tables. I've never seen this place packed, so if you're going alone, you're gonna stand out. Take a seat at the bar.
It's a chill pub, though. The bartenders are always nice, and they take time to exchange pleasantries while they make your drink or wait for you to decide on one. They will even suggest one if you're having trouble.
They get two stars because it was clean, plenty of TV's to watch if you wished, but that's it. We came in at 7:00 or 7:05 at the latest and after being ignored by the two we think we are all that servers in the seating area we moved to the bar. We sat down, ordered a Bushmill's rocks and a cranberry for the driver (wife) BAM!! $8.50...too much in my opinion..We noticed the happy hour menus and started to peruse them over and the bartender proceeded to snatch them from us like we were teen age shoplifters "HAPPY HOUR IS OVER AT 7 PM". So after noticing that here was only two guys hovering at the bar flirting with the two servers who thought they were all that and a bag of chips, and the bartender staring at the TV's with his mouth draped open like a fly catcher, and looking at the absolutely ridiculous prices on the regular menu..we left..and most likely will never return.
You think we would learn, we have been into Players probably 6-7 times in the last 5 years and have always left feeling disappointed, cheated, or just down right depressed.
Terrible! KJ was very rude, bartenders did not know what liquors they had or how to make basic drinks, and the door host staff let less than desirable, obviously over-served people harass me & my friends. Save your money for a place that appreciates it. I wouldn't give this place any stars but 1 is the minimum.
Review Source:I've been here twice now, and I have to admit that I really like this place. I've passed by Players for years, but always thought it looked a little too run-down and shady for my liking. However, my friends and I decided to give it a chance yesterday, and I honestly have to admit that my initial impression of Players was not accurate.
The parking situation is a little strange because the parking lot is not leveled off, so you might want to put your e-break on when you finally find a spot. It can also get really packed here on the weekends, so you might have to get creative and venture out a ways to find a decent place to park.
The inside of the bar is fairly large, and filled with televisions, sports memorabilia, and neon signs. The bar itself is more towards the back near the bathrooms, and usually has two bartenders behind the counter when it's busy. There's also a really cool covered patio in the back that has fooseball, a dart board, and plenty of tables.
The bartenders were attentive and laid back , and the drinks were pretty cheap, which is awesome because you'll want to save some of your cash for the A-W-E-S-O-M-E ribs they got here. We ordered a plate, and it came with fries and garlic bread, and it is easily big enough to feed two people.
The crowd at players is kind of a mixed bag of older patrons and late 20's to mid 30's bar goers. You will, eventually, run into the typical redneck douchebag toughguy who thinks he's a cage fighter...but this is Citrus Heights, afterall, so thats to be expected. Never the less, it's still a great place to get good food and a beer for a reasonable price. Check it out if you're in the area.
I have come here for the past couple years to meet up with my alumni (Montana State) and watch the cat-griz game. This year we had about 100 people watching the game inside. Their new TVs are a great and needed upgrade. Their are plenty of tvs and out-coves that allow you to watch whatever game you want.
The beers on tab are good. Maybe 8 or so in total. They also have a large selection of bottles. The food is noting to rave about but they can cook up some good sports bar munchies.
The waitresses were awesome. They were extremely prompt and put up with our yelling after having a few too many.
This bar is a great neighborhood sports bar and I will definitely be coming back!
I really like this place for watching sports. They recently purchased flat screens and they look so much better than the tube tvs they use to have. On Mondays, you get a chance to win prizes and they're free!
Jeff, the owner, is really sweet and if you get in good with them... food are half off!
I walked over here with a group of friends after eating at Carmelita's on the hill. Â This is my first time coming to this Player's, I've been to the one on Fair Oaks plenty.
This place doesn't have my beloved shuffle board but I still had a good time! Â The bartenders made good drinks, especially Rob who took care of me for the majority of the evening. Â If you're a sports fan you'll probably love this place. Â Big screen TV outside, and speakers in the bathrooms so you don't miss out. Â The inside of this place is a lot bigger than I expected and I like that they have seating all the way around the bar.
We spent most of our time sitting outside on the covered patio, chatting and drinking. Â A couple friends ended up playing darts, and I ended up getting involved in a game of beer pong after talking mad shit to the previous players. Â
Good times!
A few friends got together tonight to celebrate a friend's return to Sactown. Â We had a great dinner and then wanted to continue the party so we headed over to Players. Â This was my first visit and I was impressed. Â I am by no means a sports fan, but I can say if I was....I'd be in heaven. Â The game was even playing over the loudspeaker in the bathroom. Â That aside, it was awesome to hang out, play darts, watch a couple of rousing games of beer pong and enjoy really good, strong drinks. Â The atmosphere was fantastic, the bartenders were great, the people were fun and friendly and I had a fantastic Friday night!
Review Source:Deep fried food..... Big screen tv...... Plenty of parking... Not bad....
Service wasn't great..... You have to pay for refills on soda... Probably cost 12 bucks with tax and tip for soda.....
I'm not opposed to going back to this place..... Maybe for a happy hour.....
It wasn't bad at all.... It was a ok... But I don't like having to pay for refills on soda, when we were still ordering beers as well..
Seems like they are sticking it to you... That is sort of ok because of the huge tv screen with a great picture....
Blech. I am only giving this two stars because I know and went to high school with two of the bouncers there, and they are awesome. Aside from that... GOSH this place sucks. Went last night to meet up with a couple of friends... Friday night karaoke... my favorite *groan*. Â Really, I don't mind karaoke... it just seems like EVERY dive in the greater Sacramento area has karaoke whenever I go there. No special prices on drinks... a vodka soda (well) and coors light came out to $8.25... probably should have been cheaper.
The thing that REALLY turned me off is the "semi-enclosed" patio in the back. It was really hot in the main bar, so I accompanied friends who were smoking out back. Â I quit about 7 months ago, but don't mind being around it... except for on this nasty patio. My eyes started watering, throat got scratchy and nose started running after sitting out there for less than 5 minutes. Â It was rancid enough to make me leave.
The cocktail waitresses are NOT especially friendly, and a few look like they should have probably retired in 1995... just sayyyin.
I can't imagine how this place has enough sockets to maintain all the tv's.
I don't usually go to bars to watch tv, but seeing as my main purpose here was to see a fight... the environment was to my liking.
Place was completely packed up and lively. Beer can be bought in pitchers, which will save you money by the end of the night if your group is big enough.
They do occasionally have a cover charge. I'm not a big fan of cover charges, but when it's an event you can't miss... I'm willing to dish out that 10 bucks (even if it must be forcefully removed from my unwilling hands).
Other side notes:
Mens Restroom door was pounded in as if someone had just taken out all of their built up frustration on it... (my last visit was awhile back, so they may have fixed it).
The last time using the mens restroom facility, the floors were a bit wet. For a second there I thought I was ice skating, but it was an incredibly busy night, so I will let that tiny inconvenience "slide".
You may catch a local fighter here, in my case it was Urijah Faber! Also, tv crews were in the building at the time, so maybe even a bit of spotlight if that is your thing.
There are alot of beefed up guys in here! So don't bring your crazy friends that tend to get you into trouble... believe me, it won't turn out in your favor!
Overall, place is worth a visit if you must watch a fight in a bar environment.
2.5 stars Â
This place is great when it's packed - the dullest place on earth when it's slow. When it's slow, the bartenders tend to be rude and just ick. The youngsters I've spoken to have been surprisingly stuck up. The older guy - kind of like a friendlier faced Anthony Bourdain - is pretty friendly. The cocktail and food servers, however, have been uniformly friendly.
When it's busy, the atmosphere of the bar is definitely improved ~ I like going here with friends in a group.
Like another reviewer said, the bar tends to be full of mediocre and/or aging men with an entitlement complex and zero personality. So they gawk. Not a very interesting experience.
The big patio is a boon.
Don't be a Player Hater. This place is fun. Good grub too. Ribs, waffle fries and ice cold beer. Big plate of ribs. Our dark-haired waitress was friendly and had ample cleavage. In fact, a lot of women at Players had ample cleavage. Especially as the night wore on. Lots of Fair Oaks felines texting and texting. One of them had a bit of a cat fight with my wife. And there goes her bra! No I'm kidding but there was just a minor verbal spat. Cougars!
Players is a great place to watch the game. Screens all over the place. We were finishing up dinner when the karaoke started up. I threw a song in the hat before the place got too packed. The karaoke host was entertaining and had a killer sound system.
four greasy hot wings!
Love this place because I can SMOKE!
First visit was July 2009 with some military buddies who pretty much LIVE here when they're in Sacramento.
Good service, great looking waitresses ( who will show you their breasts if cajoled enough), and a place to SMOKE on the patio.
They also have Karaoke if that's your thing.
They do offer food but for what it is, I must say, it's overpriced. It's typical bar food but if you do choose to eat, make sure you try the Garlic-fries or waffle-fries.
When I'm home for the holiday's, there is no question about it: you will find me here, a few Rum and Cokes in, singing "All That Jazz." Â I love this place.
Why wouldn't you love this place? Â Karaoke, sports, greasy food...KARAOKE.
I never, ever have bad service here. Â My drinks do me well (with a reasonable price that follows). Â I always come equip with a group of friends, of which we usually score a table with not problems (It's usually crowded, so getting there around 9:30pm will most likely get you a table). And I always get more than a turn or two singing my favorite songs. Â Nothing more annoying when you go to karaoke and you're not called. Â That's never an issue for me here!
Plus, the karaoke area has a nice little dance floor so you can go make a fool of yourself to your favorite tune. Â Then the morning after, Â you can recall those embarrassing moments as you look at your camera. :)
(4 stars are for Player's itself. Â The missing star is for their bathroom. Womp, womp!)
Wow, this must be my week for yelping bars and pubs!
Karaoke at Players is just great. Watching a game at Players is great. Hanging out at Players, playing cards (or whatever) is plain old great.
Took a meetup group here for some karoake (2nd time) and everyone had a good time. Our server, once we figured our which one was ours, was attentive and good.
The only reason Players is not getting 5 stars is because the food is overpriced for what you get. We just wanted a snack, chicken strips. We got em and they were good. but not nearly enough for the price paid.
Bottom line, don't go there HUNGRY! Â But do go!
If it weren't for the awesome food THIS players would only have 1 star wait I take that back if it wasn't for the food this place would have 0 stars
bartenders aren't nearly as good as the other players , no pool tables , horrible ear curdling karaoke like every night . YUCK ...
food really is amazing though , the dip sandwich is AMAZING
this place is cool. too many t.v.'s to count inside the place, and some sweet karaoke nights that are so crowded you may just have to get drunk and watch.
the food is pretty damn good pub style. try the sampler, it's so much food, and it's all deep fried, what could be better!? if only it was served by some hot, tight clothes wearing waitress,..wait they have those too!
they even have an overflow bar just down the street. a second bar just in case the first bar is too crowded, what an idea!
I must admit I went here with really really low expectations. Â I have been spoiled by one of the best sports bars (outside of some place like the ESPN zone) in the South Bay. Â But I must say I was pleasantly surprised.
We went there for Sunday football and they had a lot of TVs and a couple large screens.
Pros: Â Lots of TVs, you can get any game you want, very friendly waitress (Heidi)
Cons: Â Food is not so good, Very few games broadcast in HD, Big screen was a projection screen, it's very dark inside, No flat screen TVs (that I saw) all were old CRT televisions.
The mission was karaoke. Â My friends were having a difficult time deciding where to go. Â They were reluctant to go to Players. Reason? Â It's always packed. They didn't want to go somewhere and have to fight to get in one song.
We drove around to a couple of different places. Â We eventually ended up at Players, until last call.
They, hands down, have the best karaoke sound system I've ever heard. It somehow managed to showcase those with star quality voices. At the same time, it was incredibly forgiving to those that don't. Â There's also a decent sized dance floor, so if you want to get your groove on while your buddy belts out the chorus - you're set.
For as busy as it was on a Saturday night, everyone in our group that wanted to - got to sing at least once, if not twice. Â I, myself, was having a tough time breaking away my attention from the multiple screens showing Spike TV. Â Everyone kept asking me: "why are you so quiet?" or "why are you being anti-social?"
I'm sorry. (Me to Spike TV) is like or equivalent to (flies to bug zapper).
They have a pretty extensive food menu and everything we ordered came out quickly.
There is a good sized room in the back for those of you that smoke.
My only complaint: the women's bathroom is a sauna. Â Unless you are looking to rid yourself of some water weight - it's pretty ridiculous in there.
No cover charge is a nice bonus.
Visited for my first time to watch some March Madness last weekend. The place was full, but not packed. Not too loud, nicely casual, and appropriately dim and sports-themed.
Our first pitcher of cheap beer was cold, but flat enough to send back and try another brand - which was also a little flat, but not terrible, so we stuck with it. We also split the nachos, which were tasty, but pretty standard. The waitress was friendly and attentive...the bar was covered with TV's, and the crowd was there to watch the game. It was comfortable and friendly, and I'll probably be back to give the beer another chance (or just stick to bottled).
This place holds rank as one of the bars I have been my craziest drunkest at and not thrown up. I contribute it to drinking ALL DAY LONG. I was super loud and annoying and trying to back up dance for my friend who was doing karaoke.
I remember lots of guys talking to my friends and I, and even though I was wasted none of them were cute. My friend, Nat-dawg, kept telling Howie Mandel look-a-like, 'No deal Howie.'
I also remember singing REALLY loud to 'Before He Cheats'. That was by far my most obnoxious moment of the night.
Oh - and I remember Nat-dawg daring me to ask the bartender for a 'stiff penis on the rocks'. Which, I did. And he promptly served us 'Blue Dolphins' (waters). I think I had like 10 Blue Dolphins that night! I think this is the ONLY reason I did not throw up. :P
-----
Since my memory is fairly sketchy of that evening, I think Pink will have to sum up the night for me:
"Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh oh
Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh oh
Check it out
Going out
On the late night
Looking tight
Feeling nice
It's a cock fight
I can tell
I just know
That it's going down
Tonight
At the door we don't wait cause we know them (although I'd never been here before)
At the bar six shots just beginning
That's when dick head put his hands on me
But you see
I'm not here for your entertainment
You don't really want to mess with me tonight
Just stop and take a second
I was fine before you walked into my life
Cause you know it's over
Before it began
Keep your drink just give me the money
It's just you and your hand tonight
Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh oh
Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh oh
Midnight
I'm drunk
I don't give a f**k
Wanna dance
By myself
Guess you're outta luck
Don't touch
Back up
I'm not the one
Buh bye
Listen up it's just not happening
You can say what you want to your boyfriends
Just let me have my fun tonight
Aiight
I'm not here for your entertainment
You don't really want to mess with me tonight
Just stop and take a second
I was fine before you walked into my life
Cause you know it's over
Before it began
Keep your drink just give me the money
It's just you and your hand tonight
Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh oh
Break break
Break it down"
This is a big bar, as the name alludes to, this is a sports themed bar. Â Although the Saturday night I went there were a lot of women, not many of them attractive, lots of cougars. Â The drink I was served tasted a bit weak, the whole scene just didn't really match our group. Â
On the plus side of Players; it is just a short walk to our groups favorite dive-bar Stockman Club
Me and my 3 friends wanted a place to go Saturday night and I found this place had karaoke, so why not give it a try.
Food here is pretty cool, as they offer burgers, sandwiches, ribs, etc.
I ordered a sandwich, forgot which, but had cream horseradish which I like. Â My friend ordered the deluxe appitizer and that was pretty good.
Karaoke starts at 9pm and thats when the place gets busy. Â The karaoke DJ was very nice and had 4-5 copies of the song lists which is really big. Â You can also request a song he doesn't have and he'll try to get it for you. Â The system works on a first come first serve basis where you fill a slip and turn it in. Â The wait can be quite long however, but its fair.
There are several karaoke monitors and regular sport tvs around the entire place. Â They have 2 large screens toward the back.
I had a great time here and would probably come back.
We did feel a tiny out of place as 3% of the entire place were "minorities", but I don't care.
This place is HUGE, it's clean and is a great bar. It's just not for me, it has more of a sports appeal than small hole in the wall feeling. My friends and I did order food, it was good for eating out at a bar it was just a bit pricey. The only drinks I ordered were $3.00 Crown & Cokes.
There was karoke on the dance floor, tv monitors and dart boards and would be good for large groups of people.
Went here on a Saturday night around 10:30pm, after West Coast Swing Dancing at the Fair Oaks Community Center with the Capital Swing Dance Club. About half full at that time. http://www.yelp.com/biz/…
This neighborhood bar is good size. Â Two friendly bouncers at the door who welcome you. Â You enter and to your right is a medium size dance floor where people are taking turns singing karaoke. Â Must be popular on Saturdays because there were people singing right after another. Â TV monitors all over the ceilings showing Ultimate fights and the words to the Karaoke songs. Â Two bars, tons of bar seating around tall tables, a good size room off to the side for the smokers to lounge in. Â A small area of two electronic darts. Â Darts seem to be a big deal since there were signs up for tournaments. Â Our waitress was attentive but not pushy. Â Crowd aged from 20-50's. Â Fun energy, no meat market feel, more of a neighborhood feel even though the place is pretty big. I don't frequent bars, since I don't drink but this place was very good since I was with friends and the crowd was having fun singing or watching the games. Â My group of dancers were probably the rowdy ones.
