For this weeks Generic Food Review I thought to myself "What is the food  like over in Burlington NJ?" Â
So I headed across the Burlington Bristol Bridge and down RT 130 to Playhouse. Â
Playhouse Is a stucco building painted in shades of pink, located snugly between a car dealership and railroad tracks. Â As I walked in dodging the potholes in the parking lot, I noticed there sign, which had letters falling off it, said that the itchen was pen. Â I guessed that meant that the kitchen was open so I entered the establishment with the thoughts of what delectable treats I might try. Â
After noticing the surprisingly clean interior I was met by a unshaven gentlemen who asked to see my ID. Â Appreciating the fact that he noticed my youthful features I happily gave him my ID. Â After he made a couple faces acting like he was actually reading it he returned it to me and I continued on my way. Â
I bellied up to the bar and started a conversation with the lovely bartender working that night. Â I asked her for a menu and after a couple of minutes she handed me a folder of local restaurants that delivered to the establishment. Â I told her that the sign said that the kitchen was open. Â She told me that the cook had left a little while ago. Â This disappointed me because doing a review of there food was my goal. Â
I decided to fabricate a quick story about wanting to have the cook around because I was bringing a friend from out of state. Â They bought it so the bartender told me to speak to the owner. Â
The owner was a very nice older gentlemen who when I asked about the cook looked at me like I had just asked him if he wanted me to manually manipulate his penis. Â The owner told me that he didn't know when or if the cook was returning. Â
I told him I would come back to ask the cook if he would be able to accommodate my group. Â
The kinda final verdict: Incomplete
When the owner has no idea when the cook is returning you know you have entered a interesting place.
