I just finished shooting in a 3-day tournament at Pockets, and I am definitely a fan.
Some great things:
7 beautiful tables. (Actually 6-- i recommend you avoid table #1. it leans towards the front wall and any slow roll will also lean that way).
Crazy friendly bartenders. They are definitely having fun. and are actually very good at their job. Thursday night there must've been a couple hundred people jammed around the oval and you still didn't have to wait more than a minute or two for a beer. These women know how to make money.
Good food in rather large portions. Their chicken fingers were good. The fries are solid (make sure you ask for them well-done. They don't come out well-done, but they do come out fully cooked that way). Their cheesesteaks and burgers looked HUGE i didn't eat them), and I hear their wings are out of this world.
A big enough parking lot that everyone fit inside it.
A really wild jukebox with extensive Classic Rap, Soul/funk/R&B, current hip hop, AND, painfully enough, country. (Sometimes i have to remember how close Philly is to the "south").
Clean bathrooms, well-stocked with toilet paper and soap. They are by no means fancy, but they ARE clean and they do the job.
I wish Philly had a place like this anymore...
