Excellent hidden gem in PVB. Family owned and operated. Food is superb from the sauces to the salads and all apps are tremendous. Clean, friendly people waiting tables. Owner and wife present daily. Garlic ciabatta  bread is to die for. Seafood and veal very tasty and no overbearing with sauces to hide quality of entree. Highly recommend to anyone. Locals and visitor. Also, serve carafes of wine. Nice touch from days gone by. Reasonably priced food and wine.......makin my month water for some more.
Review Source:Thought it was great. Best wedge salad we've ever had. Amazing garlic bread and everything is fresh and homemade. I had grouper picatta and it was melt in your mouth delicious. Â The same for my boyfriend's chicken saltimbocca. Excellent service. Delores was our server and was knowledgeable and attentive. Would absolutely visit again. For the haters that commented on the decor, I've seen worse and at least they had real paintings and not prints.
Review Source:I don't know why I ever thought Poppy's was closed, but she's definitely open and doing quite well. After visiting with my grandmother at Vicar's Landing she offered to take my husband & I out to dinner and wanted to go to Poppy's. It was a mess of an evening: had been raining all afternoon and wasn't stopping anytime soon, but we were up for the adventure.
I was able to grab a last minute reservation on Open Table; not that I really needed it but I like to get my points. ;) And we were on our way. We were pleasantly greeted by the hostess and quickly guided to our table. After perusing the menu for a few moments we were all wanting to order the same thing: eggplant parmigiana. I don't know why, but I just couldn't do it, so I ordered the spaghetti carbonara and my husband & grandmother ordered the eggplant. It's served with a soup or salad and garlic or plain bread. Three Caesars and three orders of garlic bread showed up to our table after a brief wait. The bread was dripping with garlic butter but was so warm & soft, I didn't care that it was dripping all over me as I ate. The Caesar was passable, but I've definitely had better. The only way I can think to describe it is bordering on milky. There was just something about the dressing that wasn't quite right.
While waiting for our entrees to show up, we noticed the dining room was filling up quite quickly. Quite a surprise for a Monday night; and a rainy Monday night at that. The portions were quite sizable for the price. My husband & I could have shared something and had enough food. My spaghetti carbonara was steaming hot with a plethora of crispy pancetta mixed in. I could barely finish half of my plate & am looking forward to the other half for lunch today.
You could tell the staff was a little stressed as they weren't expecting such a crowd but they handled it very well. We'll definitely be back soon.
I love that they deliver. A bit pricey but delicious and the portions are HUGE! My favorite is the chicken parm. The soups are delicious and come with dinner (or a salad) The garlic bread is yummy. Calzones are great too. The mozzarella sticks are fresh not frozen (hand battered) When I want a great meal restaurant quality and don't want to go out I order Poppy's. Delivery time is quick and the food is always hot and fresh. The calzones are yummy too. Not a fan of the pizza though. Would love to see NY style pizza in PVB.
Review Source:We went during an off time, around 2:30, after having a bad experience at Brucci's.  The server brought us a dinner menu, even though dinner did not begin until 3pm.  I advised the server that we were not interested in dinner type items, but we were hoping for something like a sandwich or a wrap, and she accommodated us by bringing the lunch menu.  My partner ordered a hamburger wrap and I ordered the club wrap.  My partner misunderstood the menu,  as the 'hamburger wrap" was not  a wrap at all, but served on a bun.  We heard the chef yelling at the server in the back, saying that "this isn't a wrap, it's served on a bun."  The server never came back to tell us that, and just brought the food to our table. I found this to be discourteous.  When I advised her that she should have told us about his error, she rolled her eyes,  so I asked for the manager.  When the manager came out, at first he started to school us on the menu, but I quickly told him I was not an employee at Poppy's, and it was up to his staff to educate the customer. If the customer orders something that is not on the menu, that should be advised at that time, not as the food arrives at the table, as that was unexpected.  He quickly changed his tone and was very kind after my obvious frustration.  He came back to our table later to apologize again, and did not charge for the burger.  I did enjoy my wrap and was allowed to substitute sautéed spinach instead of fries. On a side note, they need larger beverage glasses. Overall, the experience was not horrible and I would give them another chance.
Review Source:Food and service were great. Â Best Caeser salad I've had in a long time--very authenic. Â We had the Tortelleni with seafood and Veal Parmesan, really tasty. Â Really cool for children--they do get the standard colors and a coloring page, but our server also brought out a ball of pizza dough to play with. Â My grandson loved it--kept him well occupied. Â This restaurant has changed hands several times in the last couple of years and the clientele have been mostly the Ponte Vedra retired demographic. Â I highly encourage families to check the new venue out! Â Prices are very reasonable--and if you're a wine drinker be sure to compare the prices by the glass and by the bottle, many of the choices are cheaper to purchase by the bottle.
