Terrific food, terrific service. No soda refills? Well, nowhere's perfect I suppose. The appetizers: the macadamia crusted calamari steak was fantastic and the blackened shrimp well seasoned was not overcooked - yay! The sauce (a chili beurre blanc) with those dishes was awesome. My daughter got the coconut shrimp which was the best meal while I had the 'catch of the day' - mahi mahi - and while the fish was cooked to perfection, the sauce was missing something. My thought was a small amount of capers would have added the right briny, salty tang to an otherwise well prepared dish. Not quite a five star meal, but considering the price and setting it was one of the best meals I've had during my stay in Hawaii. The fish cost $17 and was equivalent but for the sauce though with bigger portions than the $37 mahi mahi I had at the Zagat rated Waterfront Restaurant in Maalaea on Maui.
Review Source:Great place - expect bar food and you won't be disappointed. Waitress was very nice, made specific recommendations on what was fresh, local so we didn't go with "iffy" items.
Calamari steak crusted with macadamia nuts was great as we're the blackened shrimp. The ahi sandwich was amazing as it was the catch of the day.
For kauai, not pricy at all!
