Stopped by on the Raleigh Trolley Pub tour. Great, old school vibe here. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

I wanted to like this place a little more than I did. I love the location, the decor, the fact that it's a popular place, and the drinks, but the food was a huge disappointment. Ive been here several times for drinks on various nights but recently stopped in for food with a group of friends and out of 6 people who ordered 6 different things, NO ONE was pleased with the food. Of course, we took it as a opportunity to sample each others food and aside from one of my friends liking the fries, we were extremely let down. The options for outdoor seating are great. The service was great. The drinks are awesome. Whether you stroll in wearing hole-y jeans and a flannel, or an oxford and khakis, you won't be too over or under dressed. A great place to be seen, and a wonderful place to drink... though I would recommend getting your eats somewhere else first.

How they manage to serve great food and eclectic beers in the crowds that pack in rooftop, inside and outside is beyond me! the RT is home to my first "great" burger - I can't recommend it enough, and I've help convert quite a few others as well. I love the consistent ambiance, it knows it identity, whether, lunch, dinner or late night. The weekly block party is inspired and really helped to make downtown a destination. I don't know if they still serve PBR's in a brown paper bag, but it was a hoot when they did! Finding PBR's tap next to a belgium craft beer, was also a first for me. Thanks for making a staple RDT mecca, that is the Raleigh Times.

I enjoy The Raleigh Times Bar because it is one of the few "hot" spots downtown that hasn't starting asking patrons to chop off an arm in exchange for a beer and a burger.

With $3-$5 adult beverage options and $8-$14 meal options I eat here every time I visit downtown. I like that they allow you to taste a beer before ordering and the bartenders always recommend beer based on what you like/don't like after sampling. Also, bonus points for ALWAYS having a clean restroom!

The Basics:  If you're downtown and don't want Miller Lite or Bud Lite stop into Raleigh Times and let the bartenders turn you on to a new/delicious beer.

Was gonna eat here until I saw the huge Obama poster on the wall.. It kinda reminded me of Stalin... will never eat here again... keep your political opinions to yourself, its losing you regular customers...

Edit: the political posters have been removed and they have added an upper deck so it's not quite as packed. I can't recommend any of the food I've tried, but they have a decent beer selection. Upgraded to 2 stars.

I'm only giving this place three stars because I don't go to this place very often.  I have nothing bad to say about this place except that whenever I go there it's WAY too crowded at night (especially Thursday-Saturday).  If you're by yourself (as I am very often), you will have a very hard time to find a seat. I've never had their food; only beer.

As I've said before, I haven't been here enough to give a thorough & more elaborate review. Maybe once I do, my review and score of this place will change.

Nothing I didn't like. My kind of place. It's three bars in one. So if you don't like the flavor of one, try the next. We had lunch on the rooftop. Neat! The ambiance was lovely. Urban. The draft Porter beer was great. The veg burger was good. Lettuce fresh. The salad was nice and fresh. The hand made chip: Delicious. My husband had a Cesear wrap. It was very good. He was impressed that the food was so good.
The bottom is all accessible and you can eat outside on the sidewalk. We talked to the manager at length. Great attitude.  Values his employees. It shows in the way the place is run. Great job everyone.   Oh yes, the middle bar is over 100 years old. Just lovely for you antique lovers.

I have yet to be disappointed by lunch or dinner at Raleigh Times.  It has been a "go-to" spot of mine for a few years now.  For food, I highly recommend the pork bbq nachos or any of their sandwiches really.  Also, for dinner, the crab cakes are well worth it!

The only reason I'm giving a 4 is for the service.  I know the crowd is very hipster and young, however, I dont care if you are a bar/restaurant/etc. regardless of average patron age, good service goes along way.  It seems the waiters at night would rather be anywhere else and just dont seem to care about the satisfaction of their customers (even if I am always pleased with the quality).

I enjoyed myself here, however, with three floors of space (including a small outside deck), I could see this place getting way packed, perhaps during the school year. As it was, however, it's a fun spot to get a drink and maybe mingleeee.

The drinks aren't exactly cheap here, which is surprising to me, as they are in the other Triangle cities...ah well.

Rather a disappointing experience to a highly regarded place. Went in on a Saturday and it was very busy. Luckily able to seat ourselves near the bar at a two person table and waited for our waiter. Waiter came over and we ordered two appetizers and waited for them to come out. We got chicken tenders and loaded fries.

The food came out and it was very mediocre. The loaded fries had a small amount of cheese on top and once you ate the top few fries all the topping was gone and it was just fries. The chicken tenders were good but not a lot for the price of the app.

The beer list seemed decent but I was driving so wasn't able to check it out too much. The waiter we had while friendly, was very slow and not very helpful with anything. I will try another place before going back to this one

A very popular bar and restaurant in downtown Raleigh. The best craft beer selection and I've yet to try a dish I didn't like. Outdoor seating in the summer is great, too!

Sat lunch - Cool vibe, attentive service, lots of room.  Check out the 3rd floor patio, that overlooks the street.  The bar selection is great.  The menu is limited, but my sandwich was tasty.  I had the buffalo chk sandwich.  Friends had the cuban - good but a bit soggy.  I did not like the homemade chips, that come standard, greasy.  But you can order regular fries.

    Overall, I would go again!

Raleigh Times is one of my favorite bars to go to. Raleigh Times offers what the city needs more of, rooftops. I have only been there during the cold weather months but I was able to enjoy the roof view on an unseasonably warm evening this winter. Great beer selections and even better atmosphere. Definitely recommend for groups pub crawlers

Huge place!! Came here with my husband and his sister (who is a regular here). I can't speak for the food (looked yummy though!) but we did have a couple beers here. They have 3 levels of seating areas (one of which offers a beautiful view of the city!), a pretty decent beer selection and friendly wait staff. The bartender told us they are the USA's 3rd highest distributor of PBR.... Makes sense that they are the perfect just out of college bar scene!

I was compelled to visit here with the great reviews, but I have to say, I was disappointed.

We arrived, sat ourselves, and waited a minute for the waiter to come over. We ordered 2 appetizers, loaded fries and chicken fingers. Both were pretty average.

I know this place is more known for their beer, but I was in the mood for something fruity. I asked the waiter for suggestions (I usually like to pick something from a drink menu) and he was pretty much useless. He just said "we can make anything". So I ended up searching on my phone. After taking a while to decide, I ordered a Pomegranate martini. I kept looking over at the bar to see them make it and it took forever. I finally noticed a drink that looked like mine being made. Our waiter went over to the bartender, asked her a question, and it appeared that she re-made the drink. After waiting about 15 minutes for my drink, it finally arrived. It looked good, but there was barely any alcohol in it. I am truly a light-weight (two is usually enough), but this martini had nothing in it. Usually after a martini I'm giggling and unable to drive, but felt absolutely nothing after this drink. AND, if I remember correctly, it was 10 bucks!! RIP OFF!!

Our check also took 10-15 minutes to arrive. After eating and drinking our waiter was nowhere to be seen for a while.

I will check out other options before visiting here again.

Went here for an business dinner and the the food was really awesome from the Grilled Chicken sandwich to the chips and dip. The service was a bit slow, but everything else was really good.

Excellent food. The trio dip was tasty but a little pricey. The enchiladas were very fresh but a little dry. But the BEST thing was the MEATLOAF SANDWICH! Own it because it's that good (ask for extra BBQ sauce on side).

Raleigh Times is a very popular destination for the locals. It's located off of Fayetteville street. within walking distance to a lot of other bars and clubs.

With that said, don't both coming here on a Friday or Saturday night. It's so ridiculously packed that you can't get much drinking or chatting done.

The crowd there seems relatively well dressed. Don't be surprised if you see lots of pastel colors and sports jackets. I haven't noticed the "hipster" vibe that others describe.

This bar has at least three main areas. They all look essentially the same. there are three full bars and standing room at each. There are tables along one side of each of the three areas, but mostly people are standing.

The Raleigh Times, is where I decided to spend a larger percent of my St Patricks day yesterday.  I had never been here during the day and it's gorgous with all the exposed brick and ceiling it has a old world charm with a modern twist which I think just deeper enriches the experience of going downtown which in the last year or so has become such a lush and thriving area I actually enjoy the oppertunity going down there now :D and I cant help but feel The Raleigh Times and others like her are responsible.  Anyway I guess I should get back to the good stuff the foodie talk stuff.

    Top Picks:                                                                Drinks:
    The Fish Tacos                                                      The Sangria
Pork Belly Sandwich                                              Carriage House Vieux Carre

I think Fish Tacos are pretty self explanatory however get them with the avacado sauce (just call it the avacado sauce they'll know what you mean) and you have to use the lemon and lime I promise totally diffrent without these three things so just do it your mouth will say Gracias!! and you'll say shucks your welcome :D.

I know pork belly sounds like a questionable lack alley meat product but it is the most tender flavorable piece of mean on the kind swine and im not even a pork fan so I know bacon heads across the planet know where im coming from. MMM and with fries its just to much so sweet and savory I really cant find the words except you'll.....want ....to....kiss....this....sandwich AND THERE NOTHING wrong with that but society has a hard time 'dealing'

The Sangria, BIG KIDS PUNCH it's not a get drunk drink but it is a very nice lunch time sharing drink among friends its spicy and very fallish which is just as refreshing in the summer/spring or random warm day like we had this weekend.  Also eat the fruit in sangria its good for the soul and full on wine, wine soaked fruit = adult fruit cocktail duh.....ballin.

applebrandyapplebrandyapplebrandyapplebrandy did you know its applebrandy that I do adore its tastes like a really sexy apple pie is wearing an even sexier swearer and then she starts to slowly take it off,....in your mouth.  But overall its pretty great sweet but not too sweet smoky and mysterious and smoldering just leave the ice out and enjoy it cool, because that how I like my hard liquor but all soupy with ice I didnt pay for ice dammit.

    xoxo

If you're like me, you'll want to avoid this place on the weekend. Went there for the first time on a Saturday night and it was pretty much beyond capacity. No tables open,  definitely no seating left, and really hard to order drinks from the bar; it's damn near impossible. I guess that's to be expected though on a weekend night. During the week though it's pretty chill and they have some bangin' fish and chips. Not a huge portion but it was just the right amount, to be honest. This is a pretty hipster bar, and I jokingly refer to it as Pretentious Times, but it's kinda trendy and I like the atmosphere --again, just not on a weekend.

Obviously Raleigh Times is awesome, one of the best spots in downtown Raleigh anytime of the day or night.  Multiple bars, lots of seating, the food is awesome, the atmosphere is awesome (rehabbed space).  It's always packed, so either get there at an "off-time/early" or be prepared for mass people, ha.

Might also be one of the trendiest/histper-ish places in the immediate vacinity, as an FYI.

I've been to Raleigh Times for maybe 2-3 visits. As other reviews have mentioned this place is always crowded, and they do have their share of loyal customers I am sure. (Just you try to get a table outside on a nice warm weather day. Good luck with that!)

RT has a decent beer selection, from what I could glean form their menu, albeit a  bit pricey. Their Alagash White was $6.50 for example. I am pretty sure it was less than that the other night when I was over at the Saucer. Anyway, the prices do seem a bit high here. The food is average bar food in my opinion. Not a huge selection. I have had the fish and chips and their pastrami sandwich on rye. The bar staff has always been friendly and efficient.

The Raleigh Times building has a very rustic feel to the building since, well... it's a very old building and used to be a newspaper place. They won't blow you away with their fancy décor. It's a very basic, but effective design for what it is.

If I happen to be near Hargett street in DTR, I would darken the doorway of the Times again, but this isn't a "destination place" for me, meaning I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

Kinda dive-ish, but not really.  It's a popular place, with a big restaurant, but it's typical bar food.   We were here on a business trip, and we all wanted to spend.  You can easily rack up a big bill if you order a lot of the craft beers, but not food alone.

I would come back for the drinks, but I will pass on the food.  I'm probably going to start a flame war by saying this, but I have to warn others.  It's sorta a hipster place to go.  Put on your skinny jeans, lace up your converses, and throw on a scarf in 60 degree weather.  This is the place to go for drinks, but that's about it.

    Some advice for new comers.

Don't get the crab cakes.  Being from the DMV, nothing will ever compare to Maryland Crab Cakes.  These crab cakes had a lot of filler in it - I think it was corn and ground up newspaper.  Second, don't get the chicken nachos.   It's just not that good.

I'm not hating though.  This is a great place to drink.  This is definitely on my list to come back to try all their different beers.  Food = 2 stars, beers = 4 stars, 3 star average.

This place took a few times to warm me over, but it has done that in a pretty good way! I have been a few times and I enjoy, each time, exploring the new and interesting beers they have on both tap (~10 or so) and in bottles (multiple!). They also have decent food - the bacon cheese fries are to DIE FOR! I may have actually died on this occasion! haha

The staff is cheeky and usually helpful, as well as patient, with newer guests to this bar/restaurant. I have always been pleased by the service and look forward to coming back for additional drinks someday!

A great location with solid service and food!

Went in tonight around 7pm to a pretty full restaurant. I have to admit it's kind of strange that they don't seat you but it didn't seem to hinder our experience...Though I imagine it would be a lot more annoying when it's packed here. We sat down after about two minutes of looking for an empty table and probably about five minutes later we were approached by our waitress for drink orders. We all had the fall Sangria which was really quite good and an appetizer of fried pickles. While everything came out quickly I wasn't too thrilled by the pickles for some reason. They weren't terrible, but they weren't as magical as I was expecting.

On the other hand the pork belly sandwich was great! It was full of meat and had a great combo of spices. I was also impressed by the house chips! Very good.

All together the meal came out to $20, which for food and (several) drinks isn't bad at all!

The Raleigh Times is a very relaxed place to go with a small group of friends. I love the set-up, in the old Raleigh Times newspaper offices. The whole bar has character, a great place to take out-of-town friends or enjoy a drink.

Raleigh Times Bar has an excellent selection of beer and the selection changes constantly. They have nice little tables street-side as well.

We've been here a few times to pre-game before going to a more upbeat bar. We want to go back to try some of the food. A tray of cheese fries flaunted past us and they looked amazingly delicious. Also heard from friends their bloody mary's are to die-for.

    Looking forward to going back!

    Well, this was a bust.

The boyfriend and I were wandering around downtown Raleigh on Labor Day. This was the only place that was open, and I'd been meaning to try it for a while. I wish I'd taken deeper stock of my boyfriend's reluctance (he'd been here before). I also wish I'd thought a little harder about it when a foodie friend of mine ducked in just to use the Times' bathroom and leave.

The good: If you decide to pop in, just get the beer menu. Nothing else is really worth it.

The bad: I had a dish that consisted of marinated cubes of fried pork, with several dipping sauces that were so mediocre I've forgotten all of them. The boyfriend got grilled chicken wings with an Asian sauce. The skin was floppy, which meant the sauce went on too early. The dishes were edible, but that's as complimentary as I can get without lying. For what we got, the prices were inflated.

    The ugly: The staff.

I am a firey-sword-of-justice-wielding loon when it comes to people in the service industry. I will defend them to the death. Tip heavily even though I can't really afford to. And I recommended not tipping these people.

The way the Times works is that you seat yourself upon walking in, and someone will get to you eventually. So, I figured, it's Labor Day, it's not too busy *now* but it might pick up, so I picked a table right by the bar, thinking it'd streamline the process.

It started off well enough. The guy who was apparently running the bar got us our menus and our first drink orders in. Then, as far as the Times was concerned, we ceased to exist.

Ten minutes later, we finally get him to stop ignoring us long enough to find out what happened. Apparently he forgot to place the order... and he's running the bar. Okay, well, mistakes happen.

We place our drink orders again, but now we want to place our food orders too, since we'd had enough time to look through the menu. Thing is, we have to stop the guy from running off before we can place it. We'd already been there for close to twenty minutes at that point.

Five minutes later, we get our drinks from a different person. The drinks were stellar, probably because the Times had nothing to do with their preparation.

We got our food maybe thirty minutes after that. I've already described what it was like.

Nobody came to check on how we were doing. Nobody came to ask if we'd like refills.

Forty minutes later, we finally get someone to stop ignoring us long enough (again!) to deliver the check.

By then, we were thoroughly annoyed. A short stop had turned into an hour-and-a-half-long tour de force of unremarkable food and incompetent service.

The restaurant was at 30% capacity when we walked in, and had a load of people on staff in anticipation of the Labor Day lunch crowd. This was not a "slow food" or proper sit-down restaurant, it was a pub with pub food. The menu was crafted specifically to have a short order-to-table turnaround time. The beers were on tap. The fact we had to wait so long for everything was ridiculous.

And then it came time to collect the check. Hi, here you go, we'd like change, please and thank y-- wait, who are you? You aren't one of the others.

In fact, didn't you walk through the front doors a few minutes ago?

Yup. A guy who'd just started his shift was SHARKING THE TIP. Or trying to, in this case...

Thanks for the memories, Raleigh Times.

I have been quite ambivalent with Raleigh Times.

Beer and Spirit - 5 stars - I love beer selection (well okay, some nights that's two handful) R.T.B. is offering and constantly updating. There are nights I found a bottle of beer on R.T.B. tap list that I know nothing about and end up wishing I can actually purchase a few bottles to take home. Oh, when you need the Sunday morning release, go for the Bloody Mary.

Stomach filler - 4 stars - Working kitchen until late hours of the night always get two thumbs up from me, however, two years since I first visited R.T.B. I can taste the difference in quality. Although, LOADED fries and cheesy nachos with pork usually take care my night.

Ambience - less than 3 stars - I am not fond of the crowd. The "Dude just pound it! Take i to the head!" crowd. I'm not sure when this started, but the crowd that frequent the downtown streets is less classy, and more collar-popping frat movement.

Service - 3 stars - Let me just use one example. Last night I was with friends at R.T.B, a nice and classy girl in red, sitting next table to us, lean over and said "When your waitress get here can you tell her I want a menu? or do I have to get my own drink at the bar? I've been here for 15 minutes and no one comes by."

But don't worry Raleigh Times Bar, I really have no beef with you, unless it is coming between two toasted sesame buns with lettuce and tomato.

A reading sort of lunch again. But today, they didn't really give me much time to read!

It is another beautiful day in Raleigh, so of course I sat outside. I had a menu and water right away from my awesome server. I ordered the crispy chipotle chicken tacos. I read less than a paragraph and my food was on the table! The server apologized for the excessive delay stating the kitchen was a bit backed up. :) Right.

This was just the right amount of food for my petite appetite. If you are hungry, this is not the choice for you. It was delicious and fast and wonderful.

I've been here before, most recently on a Friday, for a night cap with the boyfriend. We had quickly ordered a beer, went upstairs, and enjoyed the super cool new rooftop patio where we could see all the different kinds of people that inhabit the streets of Raleigh at night.

Maybe I just don't get it, but I've always thought Raleigh Times was a little overrated. I have been here many times, but personally it is not a place that I seek out when downtown for food or drinks. I haven't been back yet since the new upstairs section opened, so maybe I might like it a little better now, but I'm still not convinced.

I think the thing I probably dislike most about the place is that it is always so crowded. I will admit I have only been on the weekend though. At this time it can be difficult to find a table. Maybe this has improved with the opening of the new upstairs sitting.

I think the food I have tried here is good, not great. I like the grilled cheese, tomato and avocado sandwich. It does bother me a little that you have to pay extra for a side with the sandwiches.

I have generally had good service here. Their beer and drink selection is good and I was a fan of the sangria that I tried on a recent visit. The drinks are a little pricey but pretty standard for bars downtown.

While not my first choice for a night out, I would still go back if a friend really wanted to stop here.

Not sure why I've waited so long to visit this place. After last night's visit, I've confirmed its status as one of the best places to grab a beer downtown.

With 3 full bars, my friend and I were able to find a couple of seats right away, even at 9PM on a Friday night. It was busy, but not crazy. And it was loud, but we were able to have a great conversation without yelling.

Our bartender was very up to date on the beers and took great care of us.

If you're a fan of Stone Brewing, be sure to try out one of their rare bottles. We had a 2006 Double Arrogant Bastard for $20. Very good, and there aren't many beers out there that age so well.

The draft selection was pretty eclectic - definitely different than what most places, even places that court beer snobs, offer.

The outdoor seating was popular, and I'd love to come back for lunch sometime and try out the food.

I absolutely love the Raleigh Times. I tend to find myself here every First Friday. First off, I love the history of the bar, set in the old offices of the Raleigh Times newspaper. The menus are set to look like the paper, and the whole place gives off an old, vintage type feel. They recently opened a new section upstairs, complete with a rooftop that has a  phenomenal view of downtown Raleigh!

I have never seen this place anything less than packed. I have not been in for lunch, but for late night dinner/drinking this place is always crowded. Do not expect to be seated, you need to venture into the crowd and figure that out for yourself. There have been times when I wanted to eat and had trouble finding a table, but if you just hold up at the bar with a beer for a little bit, one usually opens up. I was most recently there on First Friday when the new section had just opened, and with the additional seating we had no trouble.

This is a great place to go get a beer, They have a great selection of local brews on tap. I recently got the Big Boss Harvestime, and it couldn't have tasted better on this gorgeous fall evening. I have had dinner here a few times as well, and the food has never disappointed me. Even when it is so crowded, the service is fast and the servers are great. I have never had a bad experience with the service here.

Another thing I love about Raleigh TImes is the atmosphere. I love crowd that frequents this place, everyone seems really chill and just wanting to have a good time. I find that on the weekends I would much rather be in this area of downtown then over in Glenwood South, where the vibe is completely different.

I have been to Raleigh times several times, and will be back several more in the future. It has a great location downtown, the perfect atmosphere, great beer and good food! What more could you want!?

This was my first time at Raleigh Times. I went with some friends who frequent the Times often. I walk past it every week but had never stopped in. I'm glad I finally did.

Raleigh Times has a great atmosphere. The tables outside on the sidewalk give it a real city feel as well as the openness of the inside. I really like that on nice days they open the windows up to let the air in. Makes for a very relaxing tone. The upstairs is also very open and your best bet at finding a place to sit. They now have the upstairs patio open however they were having a private party so didn't get up go out there.

They have a variety of beer on tap. A lot of local beer. I had the Big Boss Harvestime which is great on a cool fall evening. I haven't tried any food here yet but hope to soon.

I'mmmm Back!!! To review the Times yet again. I had to check out the expanded seating and menu. This place has hype, but does the hype hold up?

First off, this is where guys go to drink beer. And they have food. Ok, the food is hands down better than The Saucer, who should close their kitchen all together in my opinion. I wouldn't serve that to dogs, but I digress.

New on the scene is a tacos section. My friend and I each tried the shrimp and fish tacos respectively. Man, can they flash fry some stuff at The Times. Grilled is not an option there. It was flavorful and a build your own kind of variety, but healthy...not so much. They have a shredded chicken and carne asada as additional options. The waiters seemed less than knowledgeable or enthused about the menu. Now, beer, they knew a bit about that. I was disappointed that while they had gluten-free beer, they had gotten rid of their gluten-free vodka.

Still. The atmosphere rules and I'm sure we'll be back to people watch.

LUNCH: Their burger is really good. I had mine with Habanero Cheddar. And they'll cook it anyway you want (even rare) so if you're a wild man like myself (see pic), you'll love this place. Any sides are an added extra. The fries are the medium-sized/long, limp, and greasy. Personally, I liked them. They're the grab-a-group-and-dip kind. No fancy dips here, just ketchup. They also have a decent Cuban sandwich.

The music is a fine selection of hits from the alternative/indy rock bands. I've heard Phantogram, the White Stripes, Interpol, and the Sonic Youth.

During nice weather, they leave the door open. This lets in flies. If you're the type that freaks out about flies, then only go when it's raining.

AFTER HOURS: This is the place to go and see the latest in hipster apparel which generally looks like beards, flannel, and jeans. The beer is good though with a good variety of microbrews. It can get pretty packed in here but the service is pretty quick.

Definitely a place I'll return to. Look for me there!

Raleigh Times is consistently good, both for food and drink. I'm not a big beer drinker, so please look to others for that, but I had a great burger there last week.

You won't be seated, so expect this and find somewhere to sit down. Raleigh Times does get super, super busy, especially on very seasonable and weekend nights. And there's a reason for this--it's a great place to go for a drink with a group of friends, and this is just what many do. It's one of those institutions whose reputation precedes itself, and despite the solidity of their libations, I think this is really the reason that it's so packed. It's a self-sustaining entity that keeps itself going by bringing back hardcore fans again and again.

How have I gone this long and not reviewed The Raleigh Times? I came onto Yelp today to write an update and realized I had never even reviewed it! CRAZY!

The Raleigh Times is my fave place in downtown Raleigh to grab a beer! Hubs and I make it a habit to always go to Raleigh Times whenever we are going to be downtown. I have NEVER had a bad experience here.

Two words- Fried Pickles!!! If you are going to take the time to walk in the door, you HAVE to order the fried pickles. I don't care if you are hungry or not- GET THEM!

If you are a a native to Raleigh, you remember the actual "Raleigh Times" when there was a choice of 2 newspapers at the time, the N&O and Raleigh Times. I love going inside and seeing the old nostalgic feel of what used to be of the old newspaper. Makes me proud to be a Raleigh Native.

Anytime anyone new comes into town to visit, we take them to Raleigh Times and it has never failed to be a great place! They have a wide variety of beers, PBR on tap which pleases the hubs, and the food is pretty standard bar food with some healthier fare. If you are on the healthier side of things, try the blackened chicken romaine salad. It has this avocado dressing on it that is AMAZING!!! No matter what....you HAVE to get the fried pickles. Trust me! I've never had anything from here that wasn't yummy.

The outside seating is cool if it isn't too hot. Also, note it can get pretty crowded for lunch and dinner peak hours so plan for that.

Any hey, if The Raleigh Times bar is good enough for President Obama, it's good enough for me!
