I was struggling between three and four stars. Here's the breakdown:
Make sure you get a room in the inside, in the hotel building itself. There's a connected section of rooms that encompass the outdoor pool, and they are much older and, how do I put this...skeezy. Our room key wasn't working, and when we went back for another key, we were moved inside. Definite upgrade. It makes a huge difference. Staying on the first floor inside is the best, because outside of your door you have a little alcove with a couple of chairs, and you can walk right into the pool from your front door.
The indoor pool is great, and the hot tub is really nice. You can jump from one into the other easily, since they're connected. There are ping pong and pool tables, and an indoor restaurant.
The staff was generally nice. We requested a fridge, and they had someone bring one to us, which was appreciated. The size of the rooms is decent, and I liked having a separate closet/sink room from the toilet and shower. Showers are decent, with different settings on the heads (which are high, which is appreciated by a tall person like me).
What wasn't so great? There's no breakfast. There are little cereal dispensers that were basically out, and a loaf of generic white bread and a toaster...with no butter. You have to pay for a real breakfast, something like $3.75 for eggs and bacon and such. I was really disappointed, because after a long night, I needed breakfast. But I chose to not pay for something that was supposedly included in the rate.
There were some, as I put it, "dubious ruffians" staying there. This is not the hotel's fault, however. But I was giving lots of side eyeing to people during my short stay.
Although, a great perk was the proximity to downtown. I'll go ahead and say now that I'm not a fan of Indiana, and of the cities I've spent time in from coast to coast, Indianapolis is certainly nothing to write home about. However, Lady Gaga was at Conseco, so I made the journey. The point being, the city isn't fantastic, but if you need to be there, this is the place to stay. It's at Thompson and East, and if you take East north a couple of minutes, it'll merge with Madison, which will merge with Delaware. I'd say it should take no more than ten minutes to take the straight shot into the city.
Also, Weird Science was on TV when I got back to the room. That doesn't have much to do with the hotel. I just enjoyed eating my White Castle and watching vintage Robert Downey Jr, and that put me in a good mood about everything.
My truck broke down and I needed a nice room at a good price. They came to the dealer to pick me up. The room was clean. There was no refer or microwave in the room, which I needed. I called the front desk and within 10 minutes they brought them up to my room at no charge. I used the wonderful indoor jacuzzi. They also have a restaurant which my buddy said was awesome. They have a small gym. An indoor and outside pool. They gave me a great price with my CDL. The bill came to $53 after taxes. They even gave me a ride back to the dealership. I would stay here again.
