They wear latex gloves here and cheerfully removed them to make my order! :) YAY! I am allergic to latex and sometimes this results in a rather unfortunate scene in restaurants, so I really appreciate their willingness to work with me. Moving right along...
The biscuits and gravy are GREAT! I highly recommend it. The half order is plenty. I like to get a scrambled egg or 2 and then dump them on top of the B&G to make it into an extra-special breakfast sundae. I don't recommend the ham, it was pretty fatty...almost bacon-esque. I tried a bite of my friend's pancakes and bacon and they were both good too.
On the outside, Joe's Shelby Street Diner is cute, on the inside it is retro perfection. Red glitter-flaked vinyl booths and bar stools, a checkered floor, and a pressed tin ceiling. I wish I'd had a Martin Sexton CD in the car so I could've listened to him sing "diner my shiny shiny love" all the way home. Very small spot, so don't plan on too big of group all sitting together.
Yummy! Â This was our first time visiting but definitely not our last! Â Great diner food! Â I had a deluxe cheeseburger, and it was PERFECTION. Â My husband had the hubcap tenderloin which was yummy too, but obscenely large. Â Crinkle-cut fries, milkshakes too...what more could I ask for?
