If I ever want a good burger when I am in Indy, I know where to go.
I was quite impressed by this South side establishment. My friend usually finds these fun places to go to that have free activities to take part in and Friday night was Trivia Night. We met up with 3 other people I hadn't seen in a few years and our team was set. We ended up finishing in 2nd place and got a $15 gift certificate for the restaurant itself. But it's not really about the prize, is it? No, no! It is about the conversations that the trivia sparks with your friends and you can have a good old time at this neighborhood joint.
Set up like any American bar across the country, a place Norm could easily call home, full of regulars, mid to dim lighting, those little arcade games that you can gamble your money away line the walls and music just low enough you don't really have to strain your voice so your friends can hear you across the table.
For a bar, I wasn't expecting much from the bathroom, but they must have just undergone a renovation. They were extremely clean, well maintained, the urinal was glistening white and the floor was not sticky at all. Talk about feeling comfortable in a public restroom. The soap dispenser was even full! Nice thick tile lined the floors and walls and you could tell there was thought put into this lavatory.
My buddy and I shared the pot roast nachos. Very good! I avoided the peppers, but the rest was just fine! My bacon cheeseburger was great. Although not made to order, probably for fears of a lawsuit, it was still very tasty, the right amount of char on the edges topped with quality bacon and American cheese, with nice tomatoes and an actual piece of real lettuce. The bun served the burger well.
If you couldn't tell by now, this said establishment really blew me away for a local bar. It doesn't need to be a dive or a yuppie place to have character. A constant flow of regulars and good times in the late 20s and up crowd and you can make for a good time without the hassle of crazy drunks ruining your night.
Bravo Big Daddy's. Keep up the fantastic work.
High marks for service! Paula takes good care of her customers. Had wings that were on special and "king cut" onion rings. Rings were too done and batter was bland.......almost commercial. Wings were just passable. Pretty dry and not fresh tasting. I'll try them again and hope the chef is having a better night. Paula did take the rings off my bill.
Review Source:The softball team and I went to Big Daddy's before our game and everyone was impressed. The area surrounding may not be the greatest but don't let that fool you. The inside of this establishment was very well done and the food was really good! I had hot teriyaki wings and also tried their buffalo chips, both were fantastic.
Beer prices are typical but was hoping for a better special being a Tuesday. Looking forward to going back to try their tenderloin for I heard it's amazing.
