By Indianapolis standards, this place is excellent. Compared to the rest of the world, it is still very good.  Definitely a must-try in Indy and a new favorite eatery. Haven't had anything I didn't like. The butcher shop peppardelle is exceptional as is the duck confit caesar. The bread is a little over hyped (you can buy some from the bakery to take home if you want - i did not), and Indy definitely has better bakers, but the spreads they serve with the bread are grrrrrrrrrreat! Who doesn't like whipped lardo?   I'm sure Tony the Tiger does.  Mmmmmmm!!!  I've definitely had better porchetta and octopus, but the plates still left clean.  Nice beer and wine options, unique cocktails, attentive and friendly service, and the menu is constantly changing/evolving.

Beet Salad. That's all you need to know.

Well, maybe not, because after being treated to one of the best salads I've ever had, I trust that the other menu items have to be amazing. But let's get back to this salad...

As soon as you say beets, I'm pretty much in. But even when beets are included, that doesn't mean the salad is going to be good. As I've stated before, salads can be boring very easily. Making an exciting and tasty salad takes mad skillz. Who'da thunk throwing some lettuce in a bowl would become an art?

This salad spoke to me. With it's generous amount of sliced beets, creamy goat cheese topped delightfully with a crisps I was in green and red heaven... speaking of green and red, it was almost like the joy of Christmas!

The service is beyond friendly and attentive. I enjoyed that our waiter kept asking us if we wanted to order shots. We must have looked like we were ready to party, or pass out from being tired. Who knows, I found him delightful.

My dinning partners in crime ordered the smaller portion. Since I was ravished, I threw caution to the wind and ordered the large. I should have gone with these ladies experience here and ordered the small, because the large is just massive. And everyone knows a leftover salad is gross. Wait, just me? Oh well, I wasn't taking wilty lettuce home.  Whatever, I powered through and ate all the beets out of it, so don't worry, it didn't go to waste!

Bluebeard! Come to Denver! Here's a list of things you'll need to pack...

    - Sexy atmosphere including vintage typewriters
    - Amelia's fresh baked bread (so I guess Amelia needs to move too)
    - the elk and pork salami
    - the roasted beets salad (with oyster mushrooms, mixed field greens, feta, marcona almonds, balsamic truffle vinaigrette, crispy shallots)
    - brussels sprouts agrodolce
    - roasted cauliflower, anchovy, pine nuts, capers, mint, parmesan
    - your great craft cocktails

Listen, with your love of craft beers you'll fit in just fine here in Denver. Don't worry about making friends, I've got plenty that I know would just eat you up!

What's that? You love Indianapolis too much too leave? Okay, okay, I guess I'll just have to visit you when in Indy, but if you ever change your mind give me a holler. Until then I'll just be jealous of Brittany S....

If you are looking for a beautiful space with delicious food and excellent service and happen to be in Indianapolis I would highly recommend checking out Bluebeard. It's a lovely spot for lunch, dinner, or a snack!
