Visited the Colts Grille for Devour Downtown before DD started and they were nice enough to honor the menu and prices. Â That was very nice of them and they went out of their way to take care of us. Â
Guys - you MUST check out the restroom for the view. Â (Or so my husband says. Â Gave him stage fright for a minute.)
The food on the DD list offered up the spinach dip which was amazing and I will surely get it again at regular price. Â The Smoking Goose Duck is so good. Â I had the pork chops and am sad to say that the cut of meat were terrible. Â They were cooked badly, with a very sticky, odd, smokey honey mustard sauce and the waitress eventually offered to get new ones out. Â The next chops were cooked better, but still had the very weird sauce, and the cuts of meat were still poor. Â As an $18 entree, and on the high end for them, I would suggest they take it off the menu as it was a big let down after eating other things there before. Â My husband's pomegranate chicken was also overcooked/burned and replaced quickly. Â I liked the pomegranate sauce, but it was too sweet for him. Â They gave us a deal on the bill, so all was good. Â
In summary, the waitress was amazing, the visit to the table by the chef was very much appreciated and will bring us back to try again. Â They made up for the food and we will recommend this restaurant.
I had heard good things about this place. Â I am glad it had good word of mouth, because a sports bar is not usually my scene and I wouldn't have ever thought about coming here.
I made the mistake (maybe it was good fortune) to come here during the playoffs when it was super busy. Â The hostess asked if my party of 5 had reservations, and I sort of laughed because THIS IS A SPORTS BAR RIGHT? Â Nope! Â Turns out it was super busy and we ended up waiting for about a half hour. Â
However, it was worth the wait. Â We ordered the spinach dip and the chips with salsa and queso for apps. Â Both of these were delicious! Â We scarfed them up and washed 'em down with a bucket of beer- perfect football watchin' food. Â Their menu features a lot of burgers, so those were our go-to choices. Â
My burger was delicious, and cooked perfectly. Â It was a standard burger done right. Â My boyfriend's veggie burger was also good (according to him, I was too busy eating the real deal to sample a fake burger patty). Â One of the guys we dined with got a burger with grilled cheese sandwiches for buns. Â He loved it- who wouldn't?
All in all, good service, fun atmosphere when watching a game and yummy food! Â If I was single, this would be a good place to come guy-scoping (just a hint for all the single ladies out there!)
Listen up people:
There are some seriously magical changes happening on the menu of Indianapolis Colts Grille. Let's start with the spinach artichoke dip that once housed your regular prosciutto but now has been kicked up a notch with Smoking Goose's duck prosciutto. The team at Indianapolis Colts Grille has went out of their way to revamp the menu giving special attention to Indiana farmers and artisans. I, like most others, wrongly approached the Grille upon my first visit expecting pure sports bar food. However, I was delightfully surprised to find one of the best veggie burgers I've ever had - cabbage, carrots, beans and rice all upon a wheat bun. Better yet, if I want to wash it down with a brewski, they have dozens of Hoosier beers to choose from. Â
And if you are looking for game-watching food like wings and burgers, they have that too. I'm especially attracted to their burger of the day and wild game style offerings like elk and ostrich. I'd say one of their menu highlights is the mac n' cheese - it was quite good but a bit heavy for me - probably something I'd desire more at 2 in the morning after a wild night doused in gluttonous desires.
I have yet to try out their prime outdoor seating on Washington Street along the Cultural Trail. Give it a couple of months and I'll be eating a veggie burger à l'extérieur.
