First Watch

I'd been waiting to try First Watch so I'd sad to say it was a disappointment.  There is a lot of variety on the menu and I selected the Turkey Chive crepe.  That's eggs, turkey, spinach, house-roasted onions and Monterey Jack in a crepe topped with diced tomatoes, chives and hollandaise.  Sounds amazing right?   Well it didn't have that POP of flavor I was expecting.    

Also, they don't  have  orange marmalade.  When I asked for it I was looked at like I was a three-headed vicious dog beast.  

With Patachou and Hoaglin downtown, I don't see myself frequently First Watch much.  That said, I'll be sure to go back for another try.

This is a cute little place nestled in the bustling businesses of downtown Indy. If you're looking for a quite brunch spot this is a good place to come. I didn't think there was anything special about the menu. That may have been why I found it hard to find something unique to try. Since I didn't, I ended up with granola and yogurt. Which was kinda lame since the menu said with fresh fruit. It came with four blackberries. That does not count as fresh fruit or even close to a serving of fresh fruit. Needless to say, I probably won't be back unless someone drags me here.

This is a placeholder review as I went for lunch and I know this is known for being a breakfast joint.

I usually avoid chain restaurants like the plague, but this is their first location in Indiana and I had never tried it in my travels.

Service was a little scatterbrained but that could be because it was so hectic at lunchtime.  The food itself was just OK.  Kind of greasy spoon in my opinion.   My soup was pretty bland and the sandwich was quite oily.

The biggest problem I had was trying to leave.   I got my check right away, but you pay at the counter near the entrance.   There was a huge crowd of people waiting to be seated which exacerbated the problem of the huge crowd trying to pay at the lone register.
