When I first entered City Market, I was really excited. But after a few laps around, I realized most vendors were just glorified food court establishments. I eventually settled on Asiana, making sure not to order anything raw, greasy, or potentially overcooked. So I ended up with some kind of crunchy crab/shrimp roll that looked good in the picture.
The sushi chef looked like he was ready for bed and spent a good 15 minutes making the roll. Reach under the counter. Take out crab meat. Open crab meat container. Close crab meat container. Put away crab meat container. Take out cucumber container......... and it's not like you can go anywhere... he's not going to come find you and bring it out on a tray. You just have to stand there and watch him move at a snail's pace. I just zoned out and started looking around for something to drink.
I finally managed to secure my lunch and brought it upstairs. It was covered in tobiko, panko, soy, and teriyaki sauce. Too much topping! I tried to scrape most of it off but it was still just an overly sweet mess and fell apart as soon as I touched it.
For someone who spent so very long creating the roll, you'd think he would make an effort to actually make it taste good.
The ingredients were fine and price was good... and for a glorified food court the food was ok. I don't think I'd go back though.
