I decided to go to this place due to the good reviews and it was strange upon entering. There's no sign on the outside of the building, just a logo in the window and the staff just stands in the back and watch you walk in. Yeah.. not a good first impression. You can tell it's not a typical Chinese restaurant by the unique artwork on the walls. However, this doesn't separate them from the critique I have towards Chinese food. I ordered the Beef with Garden Veggies. The lunch portion came with rice, soup and a rangoon. I don't know who they were cooking for, but the meat slices and vegetable were all too big to be bite size. Other than that, it might just be an OK place.
Review Source:I've been to Naisa three times now, and everyone who's come with me has loved it as much as I have. The menu prices are extremely reasonable, and I'd challenge anyone to find a better menu for Chinese menu in this price range. The ambiance is perfect. It's small, but just large enough to fit a decent amount of people. It's quiet and the decorations, settings, tables, etc, are peaceful and so nice.
So, this is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants in the Indy area, and definitely my favorite restaurant in fountain square. Perfect
Given the reviews on here, I was juiced to try this place. I'm with several other reviewers like Becky Y and fail to see why Naisa is so hyped: found it to be highly overrated. Start with no liquor license, pedestrian decor that would fit better in a strip mall than in Fountain Square, fair/ poor service and largely tasteless fare. The "Pan-Asian" moniker is largely overblown: it's just another Chinese place and with less exciting food than neighborhood places like the Oriental Inn on the eastside. If serving huge portions of celery in a a spicy chicken dish [that wasn't all that spicy or tasty] is your idea of healthy fare, you'll love this place. Otherwise, go across the street to Siam Square or somewhere else in Fountain Square with better, less pretentious food, some wine, and a more interested staff.
