    Best Margaritas in the city!

I love fish tacos, and for some reason I always get them in Indiana knowing that they would probably suck. Finally my OSD was rewarded! Finally I had a great taste of fresh (well fresh -tasting I guess) fish lightly breaded,  that came with taste-infusing condiments, and fantastic seasoning. Not to mention the three types of salsa that come with thier home-made chips.
La Margarita is so much more than a modern Mexican joint, the type of which has received relative popularity in Indianapolis lately  (you know - fancy quacamole, good tequilas, better music, a couple of craft beers, and flavors that actually remind you of that diverse Southern cuisine rather than hundreds of items from a numbered menu that all taste the same). La Margarita has character, and a good one. The smell of fresh limes ( Cruz the bartender was laboriously squeezing them while having a friendly and much appreciated chatter about the restaurant and hundred-some tequilas they offer), abundance of light,  small cozy bar, and lively background music  definitely enhanced our experience. They also have a pinball tournaments! How many mexican places offer that kind of entertainment? I'm not saying that I'll book a seat a month in a advance, but it is a quirky fact that I can appreciate - it tells me that the place is not static.
As for the drinks- they were outstanding. The beers were carefully selected- 4 great breweries, 4 great winter warming brews.
Enjoying ourselves so much, and desiring a desert, we ordered a flight of fancy tequilas. Cruz is a great bartender- not only he knew everything there is to know about the drink, and particular brands the flight consisted of, he also made sure, by friendly, easy going conversation, and simply a jovial appearance, that we would come back and spend silly money tasting the  agave- based alcohol. Verdit: best Mexican in town.

The name should be changed to "La Comida". ¿Porky? Cuz it ain't the margaritas that bring me back...it's the fab food.  No mex in the city can compare.  So far place is batting 1000 with fav's of shrimp tequila, shrimp chipotle and the chili relleno.  Not sure what happened but I wasn't a fan of the place when it was on 86th and Township ages ago.  Muy friendly service.  Hot fresh chips with three different salsas, yummy mexican potato and veggie sides, lively atmosphere.  Only ding...the rita'a...hence the proposed name change.  They can't compare to the size, flavor and potency of El Rodeo's Ultimate (Michigan and 106th) which is my gold standard.  The sin is not bad enough to take away a star...there's always the cerveza!
