Went to the place for breakfast for the first time. The atmosphere and feel of the place is certainly breakfastelsque. Chatty, lively, bright. I was getting excited, especially considering that Indianapolis may be the worst place for breakfast in this country. I ordered conservatively- bagel with cream-cheese, side of potatoes, bacon, pancakes, and coffee. What can go wrong?! Well, almost everything. The bagel was the most pathetic piece of bread I've had in some time- salty, small, Â and chewy. Cream-cheese was borderline inedible- there was so much salt on it, I simply had to scrape it off. Coffee was average. Bacon - your usual applewood farms greasy goodness. Pancakes, although somewhat creative, were chewy and uninspiring. I gave the place three tries, and it failed me every one of them. Verdict- Mass Ave does not have a good breakfast place. So if somebody wants to come in and establish a breakfast-brunch place that is half-way decent- complete domination guaranteed. And please do- I'm tired of skipping breakfast.
Review Source:Just went here for Saturday morning breakfast on the advice of a fellow foodie couple we met last night. Definitely a good breakfast spot! Decent coffee, server was very friendly and helpful, and good variety on the menu.
I got the banana walnut French toast. Was very yummy but so sweet I didn't need syrup and I couldn't eat my whole portion.
Hubby got the Southwest Benedict. He cleaned his plate very quickly, so it must have been good! Â The pommes anna were pretty darn good too! Â
Only gripes would be that we were seated by the door, which was quite cold, and there were clearly other open tables for 2. Â I could have asked to be moved, so this is partially my fault, but a hate to be THAT person (but here I am complaining about it...). Â Other thing was that the bacon was way over-cooked. Â It was almost completely black on one side. Â Again, could have sent it back, but I didn't. Â Overall, I feel like this was great breakfast experience and will definitely be back again!
