Potbelly Sandwich Works

Ok for a quick small sandwich.  It is better than Subway, but still expensive for what you get.  Papa Roux in city market is by far a better deal and cheaper.  1 lb. + sandwich versus a 1/3 of a pound.  Small appetite vs big appetite for around same price.  Just depends on what you want.

Yay for places that list their calories on the menu.  It is greatly appreciated.  The hubs and I both liked our sandwich.  I ordered the mediterranean and really liked the flavor despite it not having any meat.  It was filling but not too filling that I couldn't eat a cookie too.  Yum.  Don't leave without grabbing one of those.

Potbelly delivers downtown and that is so handy.  There are surprisingly few places in Indy that will bring lunch to your place of employment.

I was on a once-a-week Potbelly run for a while.  The first few times were fine, but it quickly went down hill.  Delayed deliveries, missing salad dressings, wrong sandwich toppings, bread soaked with with hot pepper oil, forgotten side dishes and always being out of those damn irresistible sugar cookies started to take it's toll with me and the rest of the office.  Finally, the last straw came when my chicken salad sandwich arrived with no chicken salad on it.  I'm not even kidding.

I took a month or so off when I was treating a co-worker to lunch and she wanted Potbelly.  I think everything with the order came as requested, but the quality just wasn't there.  It could have been my attitude, but I didn't enjoy it at all.  

In their defense, Potbelly have always offered to make it right.  A refund.  A free lunch.  Whatever, but there comes a time when I just want my lunch.  I want it to arrive quickly and taste delicious.  Even if I have to pay for it.

As far the sugar cookies, they are amazing.  They are huge and wonderful and I want to marry them.  Something in them gives me a sad tummy, though.  (I can narrow it down to the cookies because there were times when I just had a cookie.)  They're so good, though, it's totally worth having to take poop at work.  That's saying something right there.

ETA:  The owner did reach out to me after this review.  I bumped them up to 3 stars based on how willing they are to correct errors.

For the record, I won't accept offers made due to poor reviews.  To me, it questions my integrity.
