Old Point Tavern is a great little place on Mass Ave that serves great drinks and even better food. It's a small establishment, but packs a huge punch in terms of quality of service and food. The inside of the restaurant is really soothing in a strange way for being a bar. There's a soft red glow throughout the building and neon signs everywhere with smallish tables that provide personal experiences.

First, let's mention their nacho mountains. Their nachos are insane. They are piled so high I don't know how they waiter brought them out without them toppling over. They offer several kinds of nachos, including chicken, chili, vegetarian, and regular cheese nachos. There are tons of ingredients that accompany these platters of cheesy chips. I've heard extremely positive things about all of their salads. I'd love to try their crab cake salad and chicken basil salad. The double decker BLT also haunts my dreams. I feel like Old Point Tavern tries to make their delicious food as tall as possible. No complaints. They have a great beer and wine list also. They have draft beer specials daily (staff pick) as well as domestics, imports, and micro brews. Whether you want quality or quantity, this place has it.

This place has a lot of potential - great atmosphere, location and friendly staff, but their achilles heel is definitely the food. This became apparent when no one else was eating there at 7pm on a Friday night. I ordered the nachos thinking ' come on - nachos, they are delicious by default.' Wrong. The most bland plate of nachos I've ever had. With the winning components this place has going it could pack that joint if they had good food. I'll go back to drink, but that's all. From what I saw, that's all anyone goes there for which is fine.

Regret. Two weekends in a row - gluttonous late night loaded hot dog purchases. These monsters of a dog are delicious when sober, but 10x as good when accompanied by booze.
