First time here and not easy to find driving in rain if you're unsure where your going. Now obvious in daily light and no rain THEN realized I've driven past many times while downtown. You can park at meters on Senate Street for ease or anywhere on 11th Street between Capital and Senate. Main Entrance on Senate directly across from IU building. You'll see a small covered deck area which you'll walk through to get to front door.
Arrived 10 minutes before they actually opened front door (7:30) and waitress was obviously still setting up. I came through one of the side doors of the Stutz building while wandering around searching for resturant and exploring building. Waitress offered me coffee while looking over menu. Large cup of slightly bitter coffee  but hot and enjoyable. Nice selection on menu for breakfast and lunch. Few vegetarian options available on menu.
I ordered the Loco Diablo Omelette with sausage, jalapenos, onions, tomatoes, pepper-jack cheese and garnished with Pico de gallo and avocado. Expected a slice of avocado on top of omelette but actually was smashed then incorporated into the filling. Comes with hash brown potatoes and 2 slices of toast. Food arrived only few minutes after I ordered. Â Omelette was large and fluffy (1/2 the plate) and other half of plate was filled with large portion of hash browns. Everything perfectly cooked and wonderful flavor. Perfect hash brown which were lightly brown and not EXTRA crispy as so many places do now. Toast was WARM and buttered. Good price for quantity and quality of food. Omelette and sides $7.99.
I loved all the spices in the omelette with jalapenos and jack cheese. Definitely would order again. Not sure I'd make a special trip downtown just for the omelette but if you're already in the neighborhood, give it a try. I wasn't disappointed and I'll be sure to visit again when downtown.
I came here for lunch with some coworkers. Â Frankly, I had never even heard of this place, nor noticed it even though I drive by it a few times a week. Â When a coworker suggested it, I was open to trying a new place! Â NOTE: This place is pretty chilly so bring a sweater or cardigan or you'll be wearing your coat throughout your meal like I did!
Bearcats appears to be a car themed restaurant, and has a few classic cars for you to check out. Â I didn't have much time since I was in a lunch rush, but they definitely are worth a once over. Â
They quickly accommodated 6 of us, and it wasn't busy at all. Â No wait, and quick service is really important when you only have an hour to get in and out of a sit down restaurant. Â
I ordered the buffalo chick wrap without pico de gallo (in a buffalo wrap? really?), the waitress told me that it was all premixed, so they couldn't make any changes. Â I like my food made fresh and made to order, so that put me off. Â I had to pick something else quickly, so I ordered a Bearcats burger single. Â It was pretty decent. Â It was a really thin and crispy patty, which I like a lot. Â It came with a side of fries which were pretty standard fare. Â I also liked that the waitress kept my diet cokes coming, and I never had to ask for a refill. Â That's a big plus in my book!
All in all, a nice lunch spot for when you want to sit down and enjoy some grub. Â I wouldn't come here for dinner or on a date, that's for sure. Â Nothing fancy or special about the place, and some of the food seems premade so it gets a 3.
Four stars for the breakfast food. Â Five stars for the Sun King Cream Ale that we enjoyed with our breakfast. (Hey, it was 10:00 am on St. Patrick's Day and we had the day off.) Zero stars for the angry employees who cussed and complained and moved garbage cans around us. Â And, one star for the electrician working on top of a ladder who was wearing sweat pant shorts and showing-off 2 inches of butt-crack. I think that averages two & 1/2 stars. Â I'm going to round it down to two.
