I have been coming to this place for a number of years and the evolution of the facility over the years has been great. The Towson Tavern was a great split off, though I miss the loss of the pool tables. The outdoor patio addition is absolutely awesome! Drinks here are reasonable and during the fall/spring you can find a very lively crowd. As is the case with most of the Towson bars things slow down somewhat over the summer as students go home.

Covered outdoor seating in the back. Bar food is good. Their fries are awesome. Burger and fries do the trick. Atmosphere changes completely on weekend nights. Drunk college kids.

I am Melissa Z's crazy drunk friend - just to clarify I was neither crazy or drunk - Im just from Jersey and didnt give a nuck if you buck wild.

The Rec Room is huge and thats cool if its packed I guess, Mely wanted to hang out in the front cause there was music, The DJ was decent he really had me at Return of the Mack but lost me with Single Ladies (really?) and I was just conundrumed when everyone was doing the wobble - yo Toto we aint in New York anymore.  I do like that folks are much friendlier in MD than in nasty old New York.  The drinks were cheap, I bought a round 2 Coronas, and 2 patron shots for $20.  There are a lot of hot young boys - I like 'em young...well over the age of 21.  I'd go back again in a heartbeat to smash it up and drink beers and maybe get my cougar on!

Good for the young Johnny College or after work dive bar.

The inside just smells like walking into your local frat house in college. It makes me so nostalgic.

I'm a fan of the patio and their 2-for-1 drink specials during the week. Food is descent bar food, good low-key place to meet up with a group.

I had a great time but that was because I was with my crazy drunk friend.  Guys are a little too young in there so it's place to dance, get trashed.  I must say everyone is super friendly.

Never tried the food here. Not sure I would. Mixed drinks are usually pretty good. Jack and Coke is my go to drink . Pool tables are solid. They actually just expanded the area and made a huge back deck which is nice on cooler nights in the summer. Fun place, but it slowed down a little now that CVP's opened up again, with an outdoor area as well. It will be interesting to see how these places compete against each other. Right now CVP's is owning them with the specials. However, I do like the Rec Rooms back deck area better. More seating.

A typical college bar with decent bar food and drinks.  Very average in a no-nonsense way.  If you want a burger and fries or some wings and beer, this is a good place to go.

The REC Room is an ok bar, it is a typical Towson college hangout where the young people can indulge in a lifestyle (No Priorities) that will end once graduation day comes.  Well for some give it a year or two after college :).

WARNING- Watch out for the staff shorting your food. I went one night and ordered 10 wings, but received only 9 wings. I told the waitress who then had the audacity to say "it's about 10 wings". What? Granted, it was only one wing but it's the principle. If I order 10 wings, I expect 10 wings to be delivered, not 9. How about I estimate the bill, or your tip?

Left a sour taste in my mouth and never went back. To the ill mannered waitress who waited on me or her manager, if a customer complains the food order is shorted, either fix the problem or give a discount, or say goodbye to your tip and repeat business!

When I first visited The Rec Room a few months ago... I wasn't really impressed. It was a Friday night & pretty empty. We played pool for a while and ate their nachos. But then one night a few weeks later we stumbled upon their "Patio". It's a new addition to the bar set in the back and literally separated from the building. It even has a separate bouncer checking IDs to get into the patio. You can enter the patio without actually walking through The Rec Room from the back side street.

The Patio is where it's at. It was crowded with people. Lots of tables and space to hang out at. There's even a few couches around. The patio area is pretty big and holds quite a bit of people. You can smoke there at your table if you'd like. It has it's own bathrooms out there (and they were pretty clean). We met one of the managers and she was very sweet and informative and really proud of the new addition to The Rec Room. We like to make this one of our first stops when bar hopping in Towson.

Crowd is way too young. Not my scene.

The Rec Room could easily be considered a dive bar, catering primarily to local college students. Their most popular night is Wednesday when they offer the public  $1 domestic bottles (Bud, Bud Light, Bud Ice, Coors Lite, Miller Lite, Rolling Rock) from 10pm till 2am, which makes for a cheap buzz. The venue is setup with two large rooms, one entirely pool tables and the other is seating, a dance floor, and a long bar, as well as vending machines and arcade games. The food is mediocre at best, mostly bar food (wings, fries, burgers , and the like) and cost too much for what it's worth. Nonetheless they have a pretty good beer selection and they crowd is usually packed with good looking people, so if your out in Towson, check it out.
