If you go for film on the rocks be sure to bring comfy seats/blankets or whatever. Also bring drinks (sealed) and foods as well as comfy clothes! :) Our first experience was good but our next one next week will be even better.

Mind blowing! It's amazing how far you can see and the sound is impeccable! Reminds me a lot of venue back home but on a larger scale. This one of the things I was most excited to experience moving here and I was not let down. You must see a show at red rocks before you die!! Even just walking around if phenomenal!

-Even Ke$ha would sound good here.
-You're gonna get high no matter what, even if you don't... inhale.
-The ultimate in breathtaking beauty, amazing acoustics, and the best concert-going experience you will ever have.
-Should be on everyone's bucket list.
-Saw my first concert here, and it pretty much ruined concerts for me. You don't see me at many concerts because no venue could even come close this this place.
-Having been to as many as 5 concerts in my lifetime,I can tell you with certainty this is the best venue on the planet.
-It is a commitment to go to a show here. You gotta get there early. You might have to walk really far from your car. You might have to walk up a lot of stairs. You might have to wait 2 hours to get out once the concert is over. But someday you will get to tell your kids about the time you went here, and that makes it all worthwhile.

If you can survive the long stair climb from the lower parking lots to the ampitheatre, you deserve a gold medal!
The views from the upper rows are breath-taking, and inspiring. God does such great work!
If you sit in the upper rows, be prepared for some interesting sound effects when the wind blows the sound away from your ears. If you sit in the lower rows, be prepared to be blown out of your seat by the huge speakers. Maybe the middle of the pack is the best, as far as sound goes. But who wants to give up the up-close band views, or the can't-believe-this-is-so-gorgeous city views from the upper rows?

The challenge is to say anything negative about Red Rocks Amphiteatre. I have only one possible thing that could make this world class venue better is handicap parking closer to the entrance.

Now the positive...EVERYTHING else!  The sight lines, the acoustics, the food, the drinks, the artists, and the view.

Had tickets to See the Ultimate Thriller the Michael Jackson Tribute Band.
The Ride up to Red Rocks wasn't bad. Dealing with the Will Call was a breeze.
Parking was painless. And if you missed the shuttle to the stairs it was only a short walk.

Now then The Stairs up to the seats almost killed me lol.
But the Acoustics was spot on. The Lights from the stage playing off the Rocks was great as well. Love the Backdrop of the city behind the stage.
Great to get up and meet new people and dance with them.
A Brief rain storm didn't put a hamper on things either.
Beer prices are what you would expect.
Id love to take a tour and see where all the musicians have signed their name before they went on. Bringing a blanket isn't a bad idea to cover up in or to soften your butt on the seats.

Seeing a show at Red Rocks is phenomenal.  Going to Red Rocks is it's own event and then seeing a band you like play there can be breathtaking.  My only regret is that I didn't come here sooner.

Parking is usually included in the price of your ticket- yes! And the venues allows you to bring in food and drinks within certain specifications- yes!  I don't think there's a bad seat in the house.   The acoustics are amazing and as I was sitting there listening to one of my favorite bands, I had a new found appreciation for Colorado.

Definitely go for an event, get there early to tail gate or get good seats, take lots of pictures and enjoy!  I honestly don't ever think I'll find a music venue like this one again.

Red Rocks, I love you, you're beautiful, but I don't understand you. Who wouldn't love spending an beautiful summer evening out under the stars listening to their favorite band? But, the timing of the shows is ridiculous.  I went to a show three weeks ago, for which the doors opened at 6:30pm. We showed up at 6:30pm, only for the opener to go on at 8pm, and the main act to go on at 10pm. So last night, we had tickets for another show, for which the doors opened at 7pm. Based on my last experience at Red Rocks, we didn't show up until 7:30pm only to have missed half of the first act which happens to be one of my favorite bands. So, yes, Red Rocks, I am angry with you, and therefore, even though you have to be one of the best venues to see live music, I am only giving you 3 stars.

What an awesome venue! How can you come here and not be amazed?! I remember seeing this on the travel channel years and years ago and promising myself I had to go. In 2007 I was planning a road trip across the country and I tried so hard to fit in a pit stop at red rocks. Alas, it wasn't meant to be....Little did I know I would end up moving to Colorado. My dad and I came here almost a year ago during the day to explore. He had a great time!! We were running up and down the stairs and standing on the stage. We even walked through that trading post thing with all the campy gifts. He loved it!

Tonight I finally got to see a show here! I've been to a few other outdoor amphitheaters and red rocks does not fade in comparison...it ROCKS! It's smaller than the other venues I'm used to, but I'm drawn to this cozy amphitheater nestled between the majestic red rocks. Unfortunately it was smokey, but I can only imagine how much better the view would have been. After all, I am a total sucker for twinkly city lights. We couldn't even see Denver! So I'll just have to come for another show!

My only complaint would be the cost...ok and also the fact that I can't bring my own booze inside.. The tickets were a bit spendy (darn those ticketmaster fees!) and so were the drinks (not that my $8 vodka lemonade wasn't refreshing! It totally was!), which leads me to my lessons learned: come earlier to eat and drink before the show in the parking lot, park on the street or lower lot to avoid potentially getting stuck in traffic, and buy tickets the day of the event if it doesn't seem like it will be a sold out show (I bet we could have gotten our tickets half off!).

If I could go to every concert at Red Rocks I would. This is as good as it gets! I have been seeing concerts from U2 in the 80's to Vampire Weekend today, Red Rocks has stood the test of time and has only gotten better.

For those who are concert goers this is a must on your bucket list of venues. This is my favorite by far to date and I am still looking for another venue to come close to this natural theater!

Things I love about Red Rocks:
    1. Sound (There is not a seat in this venue that doesn't have perfect sound)
    2. Views (The view of the front range is amazing. Especially at sunset)
    3. Space (With large bench format seats there is a ton of dancing space!)
    4. There isn't one thing bad you can say about this place!

There's plenty of outdoor things to do and many good vistas. If you go to a concert you are almost guaranteed to have a good experience. Awesome venue.

If you visit during the daytime without any specific event going on one can walk around the ampitheatre and check out many great views especially when on the top of the theater space and see Denver in the distance.

There's a museum down below as well as a grille. Not sure of their hours, but my guess you are good to go on the weekends as this place is almost always busy then.

If you've come for some hikes around here, there's a shorter hike (1.4 miles) that can be started around the Visitor Center. Go north and you'll find two hike trails that can be hiked as a loop and can get to be about a 6 mile hike.

As always bring enough water. Could get plenty hot and dry.

    Happy visits!

    This place is prehistoric!
It has made me speechless each time I've been here from a child to an adult. It constantly changes in every new light that caresses these sandstone monoliths.
While most of you may come for the view, the concerts that I've witnessed here is the "who's who" of musical royalty that's right here in Denver!!

Now as a cyclist i visit here to train and I love it even more; especially at sunrise.

So do I like it?  YES! Now each of you that may read this..get up early and arrive here at sunrise and you'll find....

Our experience here wasn't the best, it was a comedy of errors?

Before I go forward I will say the best thing about it is the natural beauty and the fact that the rocks protect you from the sun. It's so beautiful and I'm happy to have gone for that reason.

Here goes, first, the parking situation? I heard, and I don't know if this is true that if you pay for parking, you don't have to walk up a million steps to your seat? Anyhow, it was very random and the signage was no help, as was the parking attendant.  We ended up parking on the side of the road like everyone else appeared to be doing. We walked and climbed up stairs which is fine, but, the altitude really got to me because I'm a tourist and it took me like 45 minutes to adjust, but I never really did,  I felt light headed and a bit nauseous.

Second, where's the security in this place? We had reserved seats but no one checked our tickets and many, many others who paid for general seating were sitting and standing in front of us, ugh! We saw Alabama Shakes last night, they opened for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros but we thought Alabama Shakes were the headliner, that was our fault. I was wondering why AS were performing in front of a bunch of draped instruments,  they seemed very disconnected, not to mention far away, in other words, like an opening act. The crowd was there for ES so during AS, as a lot of other people mentioned on here, were talking, partying, walking in front of us all night.

Third, the acoustics? Not good, all of the sound was absorbed into the air, you really couldn't hear individual instruments and lyrics and I've of appreciated a bit more volume. Then of course there was the constant flow of people talking, partying, making noise the whole time! When AS finished, and ES started, the whole crowd was so into it, singing along, really listening and I've of stayed for the show, but as I mentioned, the sound wasn't good, so we left, blessedly before the crowds.

All in all, I feel the place needs a renovation, I'd suggest putting real seats in there, having real reserved seating, putting some sort of way to project the sound forward and add extra security and ushers, who were virtually non existent.

Jacob and I visited Red Rocks Park twice during our visit to Denver. We just couldn't get enough of the amazing scenery!

We had a blast parking in one of the many lots and climbing to the amphitheater area, taking tons of pictures along the way. When we reached the amphitheater, we were blown away by how BUSY it was. There were tons of people exercising up and down the stadium rows. It was unlike anything we've ever seen before.

The fact you're allowed to go on the stage and climb on the rocks behind it was incredible. We had a few photos ops and really just spent some time marveling at the greatness set before us.

This place is truly a gem. If you're visiting Denver (or you're a local and have never been) you must visit this park and take it all it has to offer. It's free to visit (unless you're going for a concert) and there's so much to be seen that really defies logic.

This is as good as it gets for an outdoor venue. That includes concerts, movies, running the stairs, a good workout- who knew that one place could have so many different facets? I love it here, even just for a walk because it is so beautiful.  Although the parking lot is kind of a pain when leaving large concerts,  the parking crew have it down to a science in getting you out.  Enjoy music under the stars, or movie night on the big screen. It's a great adventure!

I really don't know how it's taken me so long to write a review for Red Rocks.  What's not to love?  The sheer beauty of the venue blows you away.  I came here last week with my cousin who had never been here.  He was blown away, as is everybody on their first excursion.  And those following.  The sound is amazing, the hike up is a fun little jaunt, and the cost of drinks and food is actually cheaper than some of the venues in town.  $7.50 for a beer here v. $10 at another place I recently reviewed.

It's gorgeous.  Bands are thrilled to play here, fans are elated when they see the object of their devotion lined up, the staff and security has always been great.  How could anyone be unhappy here?

Not a music fan?  Hit up Film on the Rocks.  Or come hiking.  Or run the stairs.  Red Rocks is one of the quintessential Colorado attractions.  It's been a part of my life for as long as I remember.  I love it here.

Red Rocks Rocks! My absolute favorite venue and yes even in the rain. We saw Zac Brown last night and the experience was incredible. Usually I see concerts at Red Rocks on a nice warm, sunny evening with the twinkling city lights of Denver. Last night was cold, wet and rainy but the weather goddess stopped the rain for a bit to let us enjoy an amazing night out with the Zac Brown Band. Love this place - its hard to see a concert anywhere else! Rain or Shine this place is amazing!

I can't even begin to list all the things I love about this place. First of all, I have lost count of the number of shows I have seen here. Every single one has been 5 star. The visitor's center and bathrooms in the bottom should not be missed. The rocks of course, what can I say?

The walk from the lower parking lots, through the maze of rocks is long and dusty. But the atmosphere is so stellar that you don't even notice walking uphill in summer heat! I think I levitate when I am there.

Standing on the very top deck and looking out towards the city, gazing upon the illuminated rock towers, feeling the breeze and listening to live music is an experience beyond compare. This place is special.

There really aren't any hotels nearby. We stay in Lakewood and take a rental car or cab. For most theaters this would be a point of contention but the venue is so fabulous it doesn't even register as an inconvenience. Just meditate on the ride there, prepare yourself to be forever transformed. For a truly glorious experience, rent a limo and get dropped off at the top:)

Breathtaking view, free parking, free amazingness, 20 minutes from the city.

TIP: Tuesdays during the summer they have Film on the Rocks. $12 to see a movie out in the open Amphitheatre & $32 includes a pre-party BBQ.

Red Rocks is my favorite venue to see a show, EVER. I have been to a lot of shows in my time and will happily and proudly put Red Rocks at the top of my list. I have seen Furthur(Grateful Dead minus Jerry), My Morning Jacket, and Blues Traveler among others. The sound, view, vibe and just everything that comes with the whole Red Rocks experience makes me happy and miss those times in the mountains. You are literally in the middle of nowhere and not crammed in some stuffy arena. Your only roof is the stars and moon above your head. I'm very fortunate to have lived in the Denver area and had this amazing experience many times. I had the amazing opportunity to go backstage for one of the shows and get to see all the signatures/personal notes and photos written on the stairs and walls from bands like the Beatles, The Grateful Dead, Beastie Boys, etc, etc. I also highly recommend visiting the visitors center(I'm sure you will make it down there at some point, that's also where the nice indoor restrooms are.) They have a lot of great photos and a kiosk computer thing where you can watch pretty much any artist that has ever come through Red Rocks Ampitheatre.
Beer and food is pretty standard price for a concert. What I love about Red Rocks is they have a few different food stands with different types of food. I also love the fact that they usually have a Jamba Juice tent up there when you are assigned as the DD for the night. If you are ever in Colorado, don't miss Red Rocks.

Really what can you say about an outdoor amphitheater this awesome?!  I've been here for 2 shows and for Film on the Rocks (Jurassic Park).  Not to mention the random trips here with friends and family visiting from out of town!  Every experience has been excellent!!
Red Rocks is a great place to come for shows, movies, hiking, exercising in the summer, etc...  I have done some of the hiking on the trails around the amphitheater and had a blast with my family just exploring the scenery.  The couple of shows I have caught here have been fantastic.  I don't think you can have a bad seat when you catch an event here.  I read a fact at some point about how it won the best outdoor show venue consecutively so many times for a certain magazine that they pulled it from the running and named the award after it.  I think an honor like that speaks for itself.
I can't wait to catch my next event here!

There is nothing comparable to a concert at Red Rocks.  I've lived in the Live Music Capitol of the World (Austin) for four years, but there's no venue that compares to Red Rocks.  The best part?  It's open when there aren't concerts so you can come check out the amphitheater.  So gnarly.

Easily accessed from Denver for a quick moderately easy day hike if you want to get out of the city but not go too far west. Clear trails and pretty views of the city. Dog friendly :)

Also an amazing place to see concerts

Lost one star because it can be so crowded with tourists.

    Awestruck by the beautiful view.
This is one of those experiences where you have to be there to appreciate the majestic, incredible view.
I am told the sound and concerts are without compare- so if you have the opportunity, take it! Go!

If not, go for a hike, a workout run or the view is without compare, the color and the friendliness of the locals worth the trip. Rock-climbing is not officially allowed. No matter, the walk alone will thrill you.

Oh and if you know anyone who can get you backstage- do that too- there are signatures galore of all the remarkable artists who have performed here.
And yes, I do think Jack Johnson a douche for scrawling his as large as is obnoxiously possible across so many better musicians. It's true.

It's an early brisk Sunday morning, the sun is just coming up on the horizon and you can tell its going to be one of those blessed Chilly Colorado days where the warmth from the sun raises your tempertaure and spirits.

I am running the stairs at Red Rocks, dressed in layers and other than a few snot rocket trails, the steady beads of sweat dripping from the brim of my hat and an occasional bubble gurggle from sucking wind and water from my camel back, the place is serene, quiet and absolutely gorgeous.

Slowly other runners, walkers, hikers, tourist, photographers, outdoor enthusiast start to arrive. The echos are slowly swallowed up and steadily disappear. They are soon replaced with the scuffs of running and hiking shoes starting to tap out their own rhythm.

The bright orange burst of the sunrise explodes over the stage as more and more people arrive and enjoy the spectacular free show that mother nature chose to share with us all. Our present for arriving early.

Almost in uninison, the steady puffs and expanding chests are exploding as the additional thousand feet of altitude starts to weigh heavy on the out of towners and those just barley hanging onto to what's left of their New Years Resolution.

I hate the fact that I love to work out here. My calves burn, my thighs scream, my back gets sore and all I do is crank up the iPod, sweat a little more and keep moving.

And every time I think I am in great shape...I see a fireman in full pack, coat and oxygen bottles tackling the stairs, or those crazy cross fit folks carrying people on their backs up to the stairs...I love this place.

All the reviews below here are spot on; 5 stars all the way!

Incredible views and scenery.  I especially loved the fact that you can come and get a workout in surrounded by such history and sights.  I saw many people running the stairs, jumping up from row to row, pushups etc.

Someday I need to come back and see a concert; I can only imagine how amazing that would be.  Just put the iPhone/computer down now and get here; easy, free parking and your jaw will drop at the sights.  Seeing downtown Denver in the distance is pretty awesome too.

Beautiful, magical, and nothing short of awe-inspiring.  Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre has something to offer no matter of the time or day.  On a late Saturday morning -- easy parking, a jaunt thru the museum and reading of all the plaques of the performers who've played here (some over 100 years ago!)...with beautiful large photos in the unique setting...a video rolling of various bands...and a little restaurant (grille-like) is even available.

But the pinnacle is, without a doubt, the Amphitheatre itself, set inside absolute natural beauty.  The views, lots of runners, steppers, pullers (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/red-rocks-park-and-amphitheatre-morrison-2?select=JFdi4mGgP5lMT8yV52Sxfg#sFTdPD76BnJcWRgwFK8OmA">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>), and  lookie loos (me!) -- in and all over, the surrounding grounds.  I tried doing a set of steps at a normal pace, and half-way back up...was totally winded due to the high-altitude.  This is not a place to show off my athletic ability!

The stunning amphitheater seating, and the view up from the stage...must be quite life-changer to see a concert here.  So much so, I've have tickets to see...Sting this June 5th, 2013, 18th row center!

Update: Sting concernt was nothing short of amazing.  Bucket list...checked!

In sum - Pollstar awarded Red Rocks 'Best Outdoor Venue' for like thirty years (hyperbole) straight for a reason.

Could it be because it is the best outdoor venue (sorry, Gorge fanboys)?

Yes. Go to Red Rocks to hear anything performed. Really. Anything. It doesn't matter; just go.

Under a Blood Red Sky took place mere days after I was born, so I was most excited to attend my first show at Red Rocks in my twenties which was Arcade Fire/LCD Soundsystem co-headline. I cannot recall how I learned there was another show taking place the next night, but it was not sold out, so I just walked (hiked) up to the box office and purchased a ticket right before the show to Muse, which were not that widely known in the U.S.A. back then preceding Twilight. - E

Partaking of your favorite "substances" while seeing your fave band here? I'm sure some people have had "best moments of my life" experiences here.

You cannot describe how overwhelmingly stunning these rock formations are - and to be nestled between to hear live music...awesome.

You can visit even when there isn't a show just to check out the beauty of the red rocks!

Nothing can beat the natural beauty of this amphitheater. Opened in 1941, it's been updated just enough to accommodate today's modern performer and concert-goer needs.
Things you need to know before you go: expect to walk, walk, walk. No matter where you park or where your seats are you're going to hike considerable distances. Bring a tush-cush. Seating is on wood planks. 'Nough said. If possible, try to get seats near the middle of a row. If not, the heavy beer drinkers will be tripping over you all evening as they head to "restock." Rest room facilities are NOT conveniently located so "take care of business" before heading to your seat. Dress warmly, even in summer. A sweatshirt and a jacket would not be over doing it. Finally, look around! You're not likely to ever experience a setting as spectacular as this!

I found myself up and driving here at 6am.  Apparently I'm not the only one here. Early in the morning there were a bunch of people exercising up and down the seating area, doing yoga, hiking, and people just site seeing, enjoying the fresh air and view. There's a nice view of Denver though the Amphitheatre is amazing on its own.

This place is huge and I can only imagine how amazing of a scene it would be when a concert is held there.  Just saw some concert pics damn that's crazy. This is by far the most amazing stage I've seen. Looks like there's at least a 100 rolls of seats.

There's a lot of trails for hiking and exploring. There's also a lot of info at the welcome center and you can even take a tour. This is way to cool of a place to not visit when in Denver. It's usually open but I'd double check on their website before coming, their might be a concert playing.

From an acoustic and visual point of view, Red Rocks is the single best place in the world to go to a concert.  The views-- of the rocks on either side and the city below-- are extraordinary.  The shape of the rocks makes Red Rocks a natural ampitheatre, and the sound is amazing anywhere you end up.  The rows are spaced so that nobody can really sit in front of you, so even if you're far away you can see the stage.  Parking is free and plentiful, if a nightmare to get out of.  There's basically no close parking, and if you're in the lower lot you'll be hiking up a pretty good hill, so this isn't the venue for dressing up and wearing heels.  Red Rocks has been famous for decades, and seems to inspire artists to put on their best possible show.  We went to Mumford & Sons this month, and it was a great experience.

If it were just for the views and the music, this would go on my seven star list with no hesitation.  So why only four?  Because their no-smoking policy isn't even close to enforced.  While I really couldn't care less about the legalization issue and whatnot, inhaling second-hand pot smoke en masse isn't exactly pleasant.

But the music and the setting? Uniquely Colorado and uniquely amazing.

Finally I get to go to Red Rocks to see something. It was the night that School of Rock played, they were awesome. We arrived, get in line, and suddenly, down pour. No jacket, umbrella, no nothing. I have to say that since i have been in Colorado I have meet some of the most wonderful people. There woman standing in front of us was super prepared for everything. She offered her extra umbrella.

We stood in line a while, and then were let in, it continued to rain through all of School of Rock, I love weather, and I love to make a fool of my self so I had a fantastic time in the rain. We were trying to save some rock for some people who were late. I had a freakin' blast. The sound is amazing. It is a incredible venue, and just as the rain stopped, you guessed it. Wayne's World!!

The movie started, I had a super fantastic night. I have to tell you, be sure to have cash! I can not wait to see live music there. The sound is absolutely out of this world!
