Went to Red Rocks Grill on our way to see a concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheater. This place was a nice surprise as it was very close to the venue and had good food.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming which was nice. The drinks were good, and if you love beer then you will enjoy this spot. I ordered a tall draft and it came out in a medieval sized stein.

We ordered the Monte cristo and their Mexican plate special. The Mexican plate was good, but I have had better. On the other hand, the Monte cristo was awesome and flavorful. The food was hot and fresh and served very quickly.

Red Rocks Grill was definitely enjoyable due to it's friendly staff, good food and drinks, and the location near the amphitheater. When returning for another concert, I will be back.

I went to Red Rocks Grill today for the first time and found it quite inviting and very delicious! The waiter we had was very nice and quick to help. My boyfriend order the tuna melt on rye bread which we though was very tasty. I tried the pork green chili which had a great consistency, flavor, and heat. I also tried the Monte Cristo in beer batter with onion rings and man did that put a smile on my face! I thought the overall experience was awesome and would recommend anyone to stop by for a drink or some food.

For what this place aims to be, it hits the mark perfectly.

Greatly exceeded expectations...I think there are a few pissy missy's with 1-star reviews bringing the rating down.

Visiting from SF with the french bf and wanted to give him a western experience...this was perfect.

Atmosphere:
Decor includes lots of mounted fellow dining partners...but not tooooo many. Cozy, warm wood interior. Nice big windows. Clean bathroom.

Service:
Excellent. It looked like there was one guy working the whole front of the restaurant, 2 dining rooms, and bar. SUPER FRIENDLY and helpful...present, but not annoying.

Food:
Good beers for great prices.
BF's burger with bacon looked gorgeous and one bite made me wish I'd ordered it. Surprising how hard it can be to find a simple burger that good.
Fries-- maybe the top 5 I've ever had. Asked for extra-crispy, and they were diiivvvinnneee.
I had the beef nachos...super yummy and just what I wanted. Chips might have been a teensy bit stale? But all the yumminess on top quickly made me forget that.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF YOU'RE IN THE AREA...Bear Creek Road is a fabulous way to get a lil more of the flavor of the countryside if you're heading down the mountain from Evergreen and have lunch on your mind.

I visited Red Rocks Grill for the first time over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but based on this experience, I'll definitely go back.

I wandered in thinking I was going to have a salad, or some soup, and then the grilled ham and cheese caught my eye. After discussing our intentions with my partner in crime, he indicated he was going to get Mexican. I decided maybe I wanted Mexican. Really I was just being indecisive. Somehow I made the decision to get the Mexican dish he wanted and he got a Monte Cristo of all things.

Mine was awesome - the green chili is tasty and spiced just right and the tortilla chips with the refried beans on the side really hit the spot. The Monte Cristo was just OK - they're never my favorite, and I wouldn't have ordered it. But like I said, I was being indecisive and we decided to share. Really we ate my plate, his fries and a couple bites of the sandwich.

Service was a little slow, but not overly so. Overall a good spot, and I'll definitely be back.

I ate here many times when I lived in Denver West. I moved away and revisited recently. I was pleasantly surprised.

First, we ordered two 34oz Banquet Beers. They were huge and less than $4 each.

She ordered Combo 1 -chili relleno, tamale, refried beans, smothered in green chili. I ordered the Monte Cristo. After tasting her dish, I did not really want mine. The gringo Mexican food is good here. However, as far as Monte Cristos go, this is a good one. Next time, I will go with the Mexican though, The servings are huge. The beans are served with tortilla chips. Yum.

This is a nice lunch spot in Morrison!

We were seated very quickly..initially near a big family with a really annoying baby. Without us asking a little bit later our server asked us if we would like to move to another table so we dont have to hear the baby. YES PLEASE. So awesome we didnt even have to ask them. The great service continued from there. Drinks refilled quickly. Food came out quick. Very attentive.

I got a smothered burrito. It was massive and came with a bunch of rice/beans too. Very good and especially big for the price! I also got a tamale on the side..it was only ok. The interior is a pretty standard mountain town cabin style place. Nice and cozy. Ill be back for sure!

Lousy bar food. Raw hamburger served to me pretending to be cooked. If they can't spend the energy to cook it right the first time, why would I trust them to try and get it right the second time. stay away.

I had a ridiculous experience there with a friend, which I will try to give the concise version of:

Server comes to take our order. My friend says "Chicken sandwich. Actually, never mind, I want a tuna melt". I know this is what she said, because afterwards we discussed her desire for a tuna melt.

Server comes to our table to give us our food. She brought a chicken sandwich. My friend acknowledges that she had changed her mind which may have been confusing, but that she had actually ordered a tuna melt. The server looked her, straight in the eye, and said "No you didn't. You ordered a chicken sandwich". My friend makes a sheepish attempt at saying that she may have been confusing, but she had ordered a tuna melt. The server ARGUED WITH HER extensively about this, to the point of being angry and blatantly rude.

The problem with this situation is not whether my friend ordered a chicken sandwich or a tuna melt. The problem was that no matter what had happened, the server should have said "let me get you a tuna melt!" and done that. It was a slow afternoon and I'm pretty sure all their food is pre-made, mass-produced food anyway, so it wouldn't have taken long. The whole experience was actually quite embarrassing, to the extent that people from other tables were coming up to us asking if "that really just happened". We avoided eye contact with the server for the rest of the visit.

That stands as the rudest a server has ever been to me. And even if the server had been polite, the food tasted like cardboard.

While dining here I was thinking I would grade out a 4star, but the truth is there was really nothing wrong to take anything away. The place is clean and the service is friendly and prompt. The Monte Cristo sandwich is terrific and filling. I guess they maybe gave me too many french fries and that is all I could complain about.

Great place for a nice meal

Went this past Saturday after attempting to eat at another locally eatery and so glad we went. Our server was AWESOME!! Loved him! The atmosphere was great. The food, plentiful. I had the meat skillet and couldn't eat all of it. When I go back to Morrison, I will for sure eat at this place again. The price is right, the location, I HIGHLY recommend it if you are in town...

I like the rustic atmosphere and unlike other comments have never been disappointed in the service.

My favorite is the fried ice cream. Just can't be beat.

Happy Father's Day. We went to Red Rocks Grill for brunch. It was only my husband and I. We chose to come here because we had had such a pleasant experience a few weeks ago. Not the case today.

I ordered a Breakfast Burrito and my husband ordered a Chicken Fried Steak. We were seated in a reasonable amount of time. The waiter took our order, and then...we waited....and waited. Forty minutes. I had asked the hostess if forty minutes was a bit long for basically an egg order. She was very apologetic and said she would check on it. It came out a couple of minutes later. No real apology from the waiter.

I had specifically asked when I had ordered if the burrito came with mushrooms, because I wanted them. No Mushrooms. I had asked for guacamole and sour cream also when I had ordered. I had to flag the waiter down for him to bring it.
My husband had ordered the chicken fried steak the second time because he had enjoyed it the first time. It was dry. He remarked if the one he had gotten today had been what he had gotten the other day, he wouldn't have re-ordered it.

The waiter never checked back to see if everything was okay after he dropped the food off, so, we had no opportunity to let him know about the short-comings.
The next we saw him, he dropped the bill off and said, "when you are ready..."
When he came back, he said are you ready. I told him I was not happy. I stated that we had come back because we had had a pleasant experience the last time. I told him it had taken 40 minutes to receive our food from the time we had ordered. I also told him that the tables around us had received their food it 15 minutes or so. He remarked that it varied from table to table??? Then he stated that he would remove an iced tea from our order to compensate. A $2.50 drink for 40 minutes late and parts missing, and having to flag him down??? Apparently, customer service is not a big priority to this young gentleman. We spent over $20 on a breakfast meal. My burrito was $11 and some change, which I assume included the guacamole and sour cream I had to ask for again. I hardly think this was adequate compensation for a meal I was paying for. We will not be coming back. We will not be recommending this place if this is their idea of compensating for poor service. I feel at least half of my burrito entree cost would have been more reasonable. I was not looking for a free meal, but, I have worked as waitress before, and this was lame.

Great little place in Morrison! We love the breakfast burritos and the Bloody Marys on weekend mornings when we are not in the mood to cook breakfast at home.
The staff has always been right on and very friendly. Lots of regulars and all kinds of wildlife hanging from the walls. I really like the atmosphere.

I was taken aback to see the $$ price on yelp. My import beers were $3, the generous wings were about $8 and the half order of nachos next to be mountainous.

If there is room, you must go sit at the bar. Ton of fun regulars .. quirky ... friendly and giving each other hell.

3.5 stars for sure.

Went here the other night before the 311/Sublime concert. We were not in a rush like the other concert goers in there so we knew we would wait a bit for our food.

The 3.5 stars is for service. Our server, Electra, was very nice, attentive, and knew her job well. I heard she has been there for many, many years. You can tell.

The beer was a great buy. 6.25 for a 34oz Blue Moon. We sell our 20oz for $4.00, so this was a deal! I ordered hot tea-lemon zinger-because it was cold & rainy & I wanted to warm up.

I ordered my patty melt with extra onions and so did my husband but his did not have the extras, you can tell the difference. We each got the frings--half fries half onion rings--both of which were great.

After we ate, my husband still had most of his 2nd beer left so we sat at the bar to watch the Rockies game and the bartender was very gracious for having us sit there and not order anything from her while he finished his beer.

I would visit again on my way to another show.

Never eaten here except for weekend brunch but it is the best. We go a couple time each month. Excellent skillet plates. I get the Meat Eater, wife gets one with Hollandaise sauce. Potato skin app with Hollandaise is great too. Makes a full meal. It can be loud and crowded on weekends but worth it. Service is usually good and always friendly. Sometime the kitchen gets backed up. They try not to seat you until the whole group is there. Annoying but keeps down on the table campers holding up the weekend crowds.

Service was outstanding! Out waiter was super friendly and quick with our orders. He was really patient when my friends and I were chatting before checking the menu for our orders. I had the Cheesehead Skillet without green pepper and it was exactly what I was craving. Hashbrowns, cheese, onions, mushrooms and two over-medium eggs on top with a tortilla -- can't get any better than that! Reading the low reviews made me kind of go back over everything, but I seriously have no complaints... Can't think of a single negative thing to say! Cute menus that looked like newspapers, nice little tables, cool atmosphere and excellent service -- Nice work, Red Rocks Grill!

Food is good but not worth listening to the extremely loud owner. We were unfortunate to sit directly behind a woman who was speaking so loud that we couldn't hear each other talk and her topics of discussion were more appropriate for non-public forums as they included obscenities and quite vulgar topics. When paying our bill we were shocked to find that the woman that clearly disturbed everyone in that section of the restaurant was the owner. Thanks but no thanks..but according to how much she boasted she was worth she doesn't need our patronage anyway.

Welcome to Slaggers.

We all know that song lyric from The Beatles' infamous song, "You Know My Name; Look up the Number." Well, this just may be Slaggers. Did The Beatles eat here after their Red Rocks set? We'll never know.

Now, on to discussing the restaurant proper.

First, if you are handicapped, there is no bathroom here for you. The bathrooms are up a step and, even if you manage to climb it with your wheelchair, you'll never turn it around in the hallway to enter the bathroom itself.

Upon entering the restaurant, I was kind of happy. They have lunch specials. I saw what I wanted: a plate with beef and bean burrito in green chile and two beef tacos, and all for $7.00. How could I go wrong!

The restaurant is kinda' neat. Very rustic. I had a stuffed bobcat named Lauren staring at me while I ate. She'd better be careful I don't eat her next.

I sat in the bar area, which is only distinguishable from the rest of the place by a few small walls. There are stuffed animals everywhere, so if taxidermy bothers you, this is not a place for you.

Above the bar we have the required wide-screen TV. Sadly, they do not have an HD signal. It's stretch-o-vision, friends. So if you want to watch the game in HD on Sunday, this isn't the place.

Sometimes they call them waiters because they make you wait. This guy made me wait a good 15 minutes before taking my order. Fortunately, the bartender got me a drink long before that. It let me inspect the menu in general. Not a bad spread. Lots of variety, from appetizers to full-blown steak dinners, and apparently they have a breakfast menu for the weekends. I was disappointed not to see buffalo burgers or steaks, though. It would seem a natural with old Mr. T (stuffed buff head) staring out from the wall at a world long since lost to his mortal consciousness.

I saw something unique. A wine and spirits vendor walked in off the street and started talking to the bartender. The bartender sampled various wines while I watched, and I thought, I may be in for a surprise. This place seems to care about the wine list. As a result, the food must be really good.

Too bad it wasn't.

The burrito. Imagine taking one-eighth of a pound of ground beef and adding a store-bought taco seasoning mix to it. Cook that up, throw it into a white flour tortilla with a slathering of Old El Paso beans. Plop that down on a plate containing a thin layer of "green chile," that tasted like something Campbell's soupish.

The tacos. Egad! Shreaded, tasteless, Sahara Desert-dry beef on a pre-made corn tortilla shell (as in the kind you buy at the grocery store).

The only other thing on the plate was some chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a little bit of okay salsa (no spiciness whatsoever).

The only thing with spice was the Cholulah sauce provided by my waiter.

Folks, do I have to say it? Move along down the street. There are many better restaurants along Bear Creek Ave.

Decent beer on tap, decent food, reasonably priced, just a cool bar & grill to check out in Morrison.

So, some fantastic http://MeetIn.org folks planned a group hike at Matthew's Winters Park. Amazingly enough, traffic was light, so we got there way too early and decided to scout out a post-hike location to beverage. We strolled into Red Rocks Grill, merely because it was closest to where we found parking.

The chalk board outside read "$1.75 Molson's" and noted a couple of food specials. Nice! At the bar, we asked if they had any happy hour specials and the Molson was brought up as well as a 2-for-1 first draft. The regular prices for the beers were ~$3.50, so hell yeah on the 2-for-1! I had the Single Track and it was cold & tasty, just what I needed, a couple beers before hitting the trail, ha ha!

After our hike, we headed back for more brew & grub. I had the chili rellenos and the rest of the table had monte cristos. I am not a fan of these ridiculous, fried, chimichanga things that ya'll here in CO call chili rellenos. Chili rellenos are supposed to be baked soft. But, nonetheless, they were pretty good. The beans were quite dry and not so great. But, I drowned them in the ample green chili and got them down. I heard nothing but good things around the table about the monte cristos.

The bar area is cute and it certainly wasn't crowded either right after work during happy hour nor after our hike ~8pm. It says on the menu that they really don't want to split checks. But, since the restaurant was so dead, our server was totally cool about hooking us up with the split checks, thanks!

This is just a cool, laid back spot. We will most def be back after another hike in the area.

5 of us stopped her for lunch. I had heard that they had good Mexican food, so I went and ordered the Chicken Burrito extra spicy as I often do.

I also ordered a giant Coors light. Which for $3 adds a star on it's own....I'm a big fan of large beers, then you don't have to get it refilled.

My burrito came and appeared to be appetizing, but on first taste I found that "extra spicy" means to pour a bottle of tobasco on the burrito. That aside the burrito was average at best....but the fact remains any place that whose mexican spicy = tabasco is a big fail.

The rest of the group said their food was avegage at best....I will say the Monte Cristo at the table next to us looked good though.

So 1 star for the food, 1 star for the beer.

My friend and I walked into Red Rocks Grill covered in sweat with large post-Red-Rocks-run appetites mid-morning on a Saturday. We expected to wait a bit because of the time, but a frazzled, yet happy lady walked us to our table which happened to be just below the head of a moose. (I snapped a photo with my camera phone just for fun). It was larger inside than it appeared to be from the street and was full of happy patrons. Many seemed to be regulars, but you can always spot the tourists in Morrison: cameras around their necks, sweatshirts that don the name of the state they came from or the one they're visiting, and happy to be with their company. Either way, regulars and tourists alike, all looked pleased with the service and their food. This was a good sign. The frazzled lady who seated us explained they were short a couple servers and she introduced the bus boy who would be serving us. There is something to be said about a restaurant whose bus boys are better than some servers I've encountered in my dining experiences. He was wonderful! The wait for food was not bad considering the time and the circumstance and my breakfast skillet was delicious. Yes, it's tough to screw up breakfast, it's a fantastic thing in itself but Red Rocks Grill goes beyond not screwing it up - they make an already good thing even better.

I always order their crispy chile rellenos. I feel they're the best in the metro, including those served at Mexican restaurants.

I could do without the taxidermy but it seems every restaurant in Morrison has dead animals hanging from the wall.

All bars and grills were packed yesterday because of Red Bull's Soapbox race and there are plenty of places to eat on that street and we happened to pick this one because it was the busiest and seemed like everyone was having a good time.

Place is filled with hunting animals, lots of them everywhere; Bear, mountain lion, buffalo, probably animals from around that area. Cool and weird at the same time.

Service overall was fast and very friendly. Menu didn't have anything unusual popping out from the menu, but I did tried their Montecristo double decker of ham, swiss cheese, deep fried. It was pretty good, it was packed with ham and cheese, the bread used was good, and the batter was not that thick, pretty crispy and goes very well with the raspberry jam dipping.

Montecristo.... I will be back just for it someday...

This is a cool place to hang out but the food is average. It is inexpensive and owner is very friendly and personable. I have been there several times and the service is unpredictable. My favorite dish on the menu is the Spencer for breakfast, which consists of tortilla with hash browns, green chili and eggs. The Decor is also very interesting which you will have to see for yourself.
