This is a staple in our home. Â I eat here regularly for lunch and this is our primary "order out / delivery" meal provider;-).
For lunch they have a variety of prepared entrees (choice of two or three), white rice, fried rice, or vegetable lo mein (choice of one), egg role or crab rangoon (choice of one) and a drink for $6 or $7. Â
I love the "house chicken", hot & spicy chicken, black pepper chicken, and mushroom pork. Â I alternate between fried rice and lo mein and ditto for the crab rangoon / egg role.
For delivery we order: Large Hot & Spicy Chicken, Large Black Pepper Chicken, Large House Special Fried Rice, and Large House Special Lo Mein.
Love it!
This place gets a pretty good rating for value and consistency. Not the best Chinese I have ever had, but I have been here at least 10 times and every experience is the same. Good selection, fast service, and pretty good Chinese food. I especially like the House Special chicken which has almost a Thai flavor to it.
I recommend for a fast cheap lunch that you are sure to enjoy.
Ordered without a menu and the person answering the phone was very friendly. Â Offered a couple recommendations that ended up being spot on. Â The Mongolian Pork was good but overloaded with onions. Â Don't remember the other dish, but it was pretty good. Â Delivery was quick and the driver was friendly. Â I don't order delivery very often, but when I do they'll be my go to restaurant.
Review Source:For central Illinois, this is one of the better Chinese places to eat at. The location is kinda small, but fairly easy to find. The food was above par. You could tell that the vegetables where very fresh. They also were not overly soaked in sauce, like most Chinese restaurants. I was very satisfied with the food, service, and price.
Review Source:I want to give Red Sun a chance, my order was placed for delivery over an hour ago and still no food nor call. Â I called them and they said they tried calling me but no answer. Â I went over the phone number three times with the order taker and she still didn't get it right. Â Delivery driver just called, why is her English way better than the order takers? Â That makes no sense! Â If you get it wrong at step 1 every step following will be messed up. Â Now I am just waiting for the food, mmmmm cold Chinese.
The food arrived, it was warm not hot nor cold, but it was good. Â I think next time I will eat in and avoid delivery, it was more enjoyable than any of the other Chinese restaurants I have eaten ate in Bloomington Normal. Â It is a bit more money though, but all the chicken dishes were white meat.
Its small but definitely one of the best chinese places to eat in town. During the lunch rush, they offer a "grab and go" style which cuts down on the waiting for those rushing back to their offices. They always provide a large portion (two toppings with a side of rice or noodles, a drink and a choice of egg roll or crabrangoon) all for just $6. Sounds reasonable to me.
Another plus about this mom and pop shop is that they offer delivery for most of bloomington/normal. I had placed an order the other week and it arrived fresh with everything made right to. Definitely my favorite chinese place in B/N
I have been on a quest to find some good Chinese food in Bloomington. I have been here a couple times and have been satisfied, which is more than I can say about some other places in town.
I tried the mu shu, which isn't something I normally eat, but I really liked it. It's not a bad place to eat in and there always seems to be tables available. It's in the same shopping mall as Jewel and Hansen Cleaners.
If you're a Chinese food lover, try it out. It's worth a shot.
