I was expecting 5 stars but it fell short in a lot of ways. Â The space is beautiful and sleek. Â I love the pivotal front door and the fireplace. Â We walked in and the bartender and server just looked at us as if we were in the wrong place. Â No greeting or welcome. Â I told her we would sit outside. Â The patio is beautiful and depending on where u sit, u have a great view. Â Unfortunately, we were one of two people out there and then a couple came and sat right in front of us. Â They kept moving there seat so many times that I asked if they wanted to join us, Ha! Â Literally it was obnoxious. Â Then another set of couple came and sat right behind us. Loud people who don't speak in a volume condusive to having a normal conversation. Â So I recommend that a server seat you so people don't infringe on your space. Â At this time a family and a set of 4 on a business trip sat near us a s well. Â At this point paying $16 a drink, I was not enjoying my self. Â Let me again stress that the patio is huge! Â Why every one chose to sit literally at the tables next to us is beyond me. Â We had 4 bloody mary's and the shanghai'd and T3467 was amazing, the rest were ok, needed to be shaken more. Â Â Our server was slow, same chick who just looked at us walking in. Â We ordered the truffle pizza, it took 20 minutes at least. Â It was yummy but just enough to wet the whistle leaving you wanting more especially for $21 bucks!! Â I was expecting the high prices being the St. Regis in Deer Valley but the service was like Chilli's. Â Server needs to be more attentive, especially watching the couple moving numerous times opening the umbrella, uh shouldn't the staff do that??? Â My water glass empty most of the time and drinks that clearly were not shaken enough. Â MMmm sigh, kinda disappointed.
Review Source:Four of us went to the St. Regis bar on a Friday night. The view was outstanding and the ambience was fun. They were busy and we clearly got a tired/overworked server but in general the drinks were great (mojito and bloody mary especially). We also got to see their nightly champagne sabering which was a fun touch. We also had the truffle pizza appetizer, which, while totally overpriced, was delicious.
Review Source:View from the terrace is spectacular. Pricing is a little weird. Beer reasonable at $8. Cocktails were about $15. Same price as the entrees, strangely. Â Least expensive half bottle of wine was $55! Yikes! Our crispy cod sandwich and grilled chicken sandwiches were good. Glad we went for the experience but probably won't go back.
Review Source:A warm summer evening as the sun slowly set was the perfect backdrop to sit outside at the St. Regis bar and take in the final daily rays of my favorite G-type main-sequence star.
Wandered over after enjoying a free concert  at the snow park outdoor amphitheater.  No discernible dress code-- the valets turned a blind eye to our motley crew of dayglo sandals and 80s t-shirts;  instead they treated us as royalty and graciously escorted us to the funicular.  The valets seemed almost giddy as though they all shared the same birthday and that birthday was now. Â
As always, the funicular was funtastic. Â Someone joked that the leather holding straps hanging from metal ceiling bars made the ride 50 shades grayer. Â Greeted by the familiar blue dog sculpture artwork with joyous tiny park city recreational scenes carefully painted all over it. Â I would prefer to see this type of sculpture aesthetic enlarged and placed all around Park City instead of the moose. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Â
Spacious seating, modern/clean mountain lodge architecture, white-glove attention and service, the obvious cachet of funicular-generated anticipation, and the intoxicating panoramic view all conspire to created an understated atmospheric elegance that felt like the warm hug of a long-lost friend. Â The subdued conversations at the other outdoor tables stood as a lovely contrast to the boisterous cacophony that defines all free summer lawn concerts in Park City.
After ordering over a hundred dollars in drinks (i.e., the first round), our excellent server offered complimentary chips or nut mix. Â They were also complementary to the drinks. Â The server was asked if there was any healthier options, like carrots and celery. Â She explained that they did not have any carrots or celery but would search for something healthier to nosh on. Â Minutes later carrots and celery appeared. Â Apparently drummed up from another part of the kitchen.
Every cocktail a work of art that is glorious to behold and bursting with flavor. Â They go down easy. Â The mojito with chunks of fresh pineapple (dry white not sweet yellow) and tons of mint (could swear there was foamy plasma cilantro/mint top layer) was a personal favorite. Â Mo mo plz. Â
Unfortunately, the drinks cost somewhere between Manhattan and Tokyo. Â Lyrics from that Guns n' Roses classic perfectly sum up my thoughts on the carrot and celery magic combined with thoughts of the hyper-exorbitant drink prices: Â "We are the people that can find whatever you may need. If you got the money, honey, we got your disease. In the jungle, welcome to the jungle."
Beautiful vistas? check.
Fancy Funicular ride? check
Plush carpet and fancy decor? check
Big thick, heavy menu? check
Outrageously horrible and slightly aggressive service? check
Overpriced average fish burger? check
Ignored because I had on Spyder instead of Bogner? well, maybe!
This was my third visit to the Bar, and it will be my last: for a few years anyway: Until the management can do something about such a soul-sucking bunch of zombies getting paid to drain me of my good time and hard earned money...
Hit up the St. Regis Bar on a wet, windy day in Park City when lounging around the fireplace sucking down cocktails sounded better than the slopes....
I have been in numerous funiculars in my travels, but this was the first one with leather seating....but of course ..... Â
Headed up to the bar and grabbed a seat with a view of the mountain. Â The cocktail menu consisted of some classic and new-school cocktails -- think Sidecars and Sazeracs to Pineapple Mojitos and Cucumber Martinis. Â At $14 for a drink, the menu surely caters to the well-to-do -- think old money, trust funders and Euros visiting Park City happily detonating their Euros in the USA. Â The extensive selection of single malts is only apropos for an establishment of this nature.....
Sucked down a nice hot toddy and enjoyed conversation while my companion indulged in the hotel's famous Bloody Mary. Â As a connoisseur of fine spirits, I can attest that these cocktails were proper. Â
If you find yourself in the trust-funder category, have unlimited amounts of cash to blow (yours or someone else's), and want a first class apres ski experience, this is your stop at Deer Valley.
I loved everything about the St. Regis Bar. Â You take a funicular up to the resort, where you can enjoy amazing views of Park City. My friends and I just went for cocktails but they also have light fare from Jean Georges. I ordered the grapefruit cocktail, which was light and fresh. They're known for their hot tea cocktails so my friends ordered those and enjoyed them very much. The waitress was extremely helpful in not only picking out drinks but also recommendations for activities in Park City as she was a PC native. The inside of the bar had a cool fire pit and a lot of beautiful artwork all around--everything was decorated very well. There are a variety of seating options: comfortable armchairs along with tables and stools. Although it was freezing cold that night, we still went out on the patio for a bit, where they have numerous fire pits running and amazing views of PC. No one was out on the patio but on a warmer day, it would be a great place to enjoy food and drinks. This is definitely one of the best views of PC I've seen.
Review Source:Stopped in for apres ski and I would definitely have to agree with a lot of the other Yelp reviews.  The service was hit or miss for me.  One of the more expensive wine list I have ever seen  and the mark up must be around 300%.  Muscles were amazing as were the mashed potatoes.  The wine lists was both overpriced and unimpressive. The funicular is going to be a highlight for the kids.  Sabering at 5:30 is a must see!
Review Source:A happening place for Apres Ski! Went there for drinks of course after skiing (Apres Ski) and met some friends. We were there forever because of traffic outside during New Years week and we weren't rushed out at all. Hefty prices but again this is Deer Valley so not unexpected. You also get to ride a thingamajig up the side of the mountain with a great view. GO!
Review Source:A great spot to take in a drink - or snack from J&G grill - after walking, skiing - or whatever your activity may be in the area. Â Enter through the lobby and take the funicular up to the bar. Â We had cucumber martinis, chocolate martinis and espresso martinis at the recommendation of the bartender. Â A couple of them weren't on the menu, but just ask - they are worth it. Â Service on our visit was exceptional and glad we were able to make time to visit. Â When you're done at the bar, take your camera for some incredible scenery shots of the mountains - especially during the winter on the slopes.
Review Source:We love the staff! Alex, Marcel, (Mason too) & tonight we add Emily (our server at the fun, cool, center, wooden table) to our list is why we love this bar. Â Emily was always smiling and so helpful even during the busy rush. Truly a delight to have taken care if us tonight! As for the food and new drinks we tried tonight they were spectacular! The Mussels and the sauce with its fresh garlic olive oil spread was to die for, all our main meals (my filet, to the specialty brie burgers where all cooked as we asked and had great flavor). Â We also had 2 desserts. The kids loved the chocolate cake, which was a lava cake. However, the winner was the salted caramel ice cream with popcorn and peanuts. It was like having kettle corn with the most dreamy homemade caramel ice cream. Â Wow are we going to miss this place and people! Â Another thanks goes out to Alex and Marcel for making this place feel so inviting. Â St. Regis is definitely lucky to have the 2 of you! Â Hope to see you next year...
Review Source:Great views, great cocktails, great wines by the glass and fantastic food!
In the summer the patio is the spot with great views and live music and in the winter sit inside and warm up in luxury. Either season this bar is perfect for a drink and some food. Â Its pricey, and why wouldn't it be its a bar in a Five Star Resort in a 5 Star location and you ride a cool funicular to get to it or better yet you skied up to the door. Â Atmosphere, Atmosphere, Atmosphere. Â This place is just one of a ton of reasons why Deer Valley is The #1 Resort.
It took 20 minutes after sitting out in the patio area in order to get any service. I maybe able to understand the wait if it were busy, but there was only one other group! The food was mediocre. My tenderloin was over cooked! Yes the food is over priced and the service pathetic. The best part was the drinks and the view. I expected better from a St Regis bar! My suggestion, ride the funicular get a drink (pricey) enjoy the view and go eat somewhere else.
Review Source:I'm giving it 5 stars, even though the funicular is kind of annoying. I am from Park City, but will go to The Reeg any chance I get! Yes, it's pricey, but it is an intimate, gorgeous setting, with stellar service. Marcel, the bartender, is friendly and always on his game. I am a bloody mary girl, and this place has one of the very bests (but Ex-Wives still has one of the best, for a price that fits their ambience). The ginger margarita? Yes, I will take five please! Gentlemen, take note: The St. Regis bar (or hotel in general) is the perfect place to woo the ladies!
Review Source:The hours I spent at the St. Regis Bar were so magical, I want to keep them in my pocket forever. I'm speaking partially about my company, but the St. Regis provided such a spectacular, wintery, and romantic backdrop that my experience will remain even more memorable.
As others have mentioned, riding the funicular up to the bar makes for an extra-special experience from the start. It's a short ride, so make the most of those minutes and soak up the breathtaking view while you can. The bar itself is warm, rustic, and inviting, but still upscale. The drinks here are first-rate, too. I spied a Sidecar on the menu, and enjoyed it so much that I had it for my second round, too. The cinnamon sugar rim was a nice seasonal touch.
My favorite part of the evening was the champagne toast at sunset. One staff member gathered all the patrons together outside while he sabered the champagne bottle to uncork it! It was such a fun, special moment, and I'm so glad I got to partake in it. Plus, the champagne toast is on the house! Win win.
Now that I've visited in the winter, I want to come again at other times of year to witness the changes in landscape. Regardless of the season, though, the St. Regis Bar is one special place, and I can't wait to return.
The funicular ride is killer. The whole story about how they invented the Bloody Mary (at the St Regis NYC, that is) is interesting, and makes it so you can't possibly skip ordering one. And on a not-too-cold night, drinks on the outdoor patio by the beach-of-fire is one of the most wonderful spots in Park City.
That being said, if they're even remotely busy, the service is sometimes slow, at times near-negligent. The safe route is to order at the bar, though admittedly sometimes the table service is good. Let's just call that part of the experience -- the table service, that is -- inconsistent.
The local version of the bloody mary is probably my least favorite. The foamy wasabi is perhaps too cloying. The flavor in the foam isn't subtle, and instead is too rich. My preference is for the "original" NYC version. Man, it does rock, though, that they offer 5 different ingenious versions of the Bloody Mary.
If you dig art, the mural behind the bar is pretty cool to contemplate.
Expensive, yes. Worth it for the atmosphere? Absolutely.
In an age when everything is overrun with hipsters or a insanely bedazzled jeans, it's nice to find a place that comes off as classy. Granted, I visited in the off-season, so it wasn't as crowded. But after a drive up over Guardsman Pass, my friend and I rode the funicular (that's just fun to say) up to the bar for cocktails.
It was the perfect oasis. The drinks were delicious, the space itself feels decadent and appealing, the bartenders were friendly and attentive, and the outdoor fireplace was a nice touch on a chilly fall day up in Park City.
I'd like to check it out again this winter to see if the service holds up when it's busy, but it's a visit I'm looking forward to.
High end bar for a high end price...yes its expensive, but its nice..cougars abound so thats either good or not so good depending on your range. Â Food is excellent, the drinks are nice (be nice to the bartender and he will be nice to you)...saw the sabering which was nice touch as well as the outdoor fire pit...this is a great visit in summer time, i cant imagine how nice it would be in the winter...
Review Source:I wanted a light lunch and my sis recommended the steamed shrimp salad w/beurre blanc. Â I was skeptical of any steamed meat and beurre blanc is not generally low-cal, but I went with it because she was so sure I would love it. Â I was happily surprised. Â The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the beurre blanc packed a lot of flavor in the light drizzle. Â The salad veggies were so fresh even in the middle of winter in Utah! Â We sat at the bar and received great service from all - especially our attentive bar tender, Kyle. Â While we were there they were also serving a fabulous-looking buffet on the patio. Great food, great service and great view . . . loved it!
Review Source:Great food. We split a pizza appetizer with black truffle and eggs on top. Fantastic. The chicken sandwich was tasty as was the tomato soup. We finished with an apple crisp and cinnamon ice cream. Solid. Super attentive wait staff and the people watching doesn't get much better.
Great place to hang after a day of skiing.
Great mountaintop location and friendly staff. One of the best I've found for apres-ski in Deer Valley.
I went here with a group of coworkers and sat at the bar, where we were helped by a nice gentleman named "Jimmy"
Definitely off the beaten path and a pretty awesome experience if you're looking for authentic Park City night out.
Had occasion to eat a casual, leisurely lunch here a couple of times while staying at the hotel for a meeting. Ambiance is great, with comfortable seating and amazing views. Food is good -- the menu is that of the adjacent restaurant and is all you'd expect from a Jean-Georges establishment. I am in love with the spring pea soup, served with parmesan foam -- at one point I considered licking the bowl, but heard my nana's voice in my head telling me that would be bad manners, so I refrained. Burgers are also great, as is the salted caramel sundae. The cherry yuzu soda (handmade on site) is delightful. Service was fairly good -- my servers were pretty attentive for a solo customer, which is not always the case. Can recommend this as a casual place to relax and enjoy a meal, a drink, a good read or all of the above.
Review Source:Friendliest staff in Deer Valley, hands down! Â Great bar food and drinks, with the ability to order from the full J&G Grill menu (Jean-Georges) adjacent to the bar. Â Cozy mountain-modern ambiance with a fantastic outdoor patio complete with rock-fire-wall overlooking the valley and mountains. Â The ride up the hillside in the Funicular is pretty spectacular too. Â Say hello to Jimmy and Brett at the bar, and Benjamin at the front desk - three honorable gents! Â Skip the stuffy, outdated Stein Eriksen Lodge and indulge in this classy, yet relaxed mountaintop gem instead.
Review Source:This is a beautiful place to have a drink with friends after a long day of boarding.
One thing that made the St Regis different is taking a funicular up to the bar.
I had their "lucky star" drink which was $10 and cider, cinnamon and Tuaca. It was exactly what I needed. If you're looking for a higher-end Apres Ski drink this is the place to go.
The St. Regis Bar is a perfect place for après-ski in Deer Valley. We wound down after skiing here several times in the late afternoon and the service was always friendly and prompt. Being a white wine drinker, I usually got a glass of Brancott Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand however several in our party enjoyed sampling their signature Bloody Marys. The most inventive one on the Bar Menu was a Bloody Mary served with a layer of green wasabi-celery foam and rimmed with salt. My friends had several of these in quick succession so I can only assume they were good!
On the food front, the St. Regis Bar served complimentary rosemary scented popcorn in rustic wooden bowls. We also ordered fondue one evening which was a delicious pot of melted Emmental and Gruyere cheese swirled with just a hint of kirsch. Served on the side were chunks of fresh bread, cornichons, slices of salami, red grapes and pearl onions.
An interesting tradition at the St. Regis Bar was the daily "Champagne Sabre Ceremony" which took place at sundown. Basically, a St. Regis employee went around personally encouraging everyone in the bar to come out to the terrace where he then stood on a rock. The fellow gave a short speech about Napoleon and then artfully removed the champagne cork with a small sabre. Afterwords, complimentary champagne was served. It was an elegant touch and a lovely close to the day in a top-notch setting!
I went during a very off-peak time, so that may have effected the experience.
funicular ride was interesting and fun.. but very short. Â i was expecting more than a 3 min ride for all the hype. Â my bf and i went for dinner at j&g grill but had some drinks at the bar first. Â there was only one other woman sitting at the bar so service was great. Â there is a tv by the bar for those who would like to watch some sports with their drink. Â there was also seating in the back.. what looked like comfy couches, a fireplace, and even a beautiful loveseat made out of crocodile skin. Â Nice outdoor patio/seating with firepit as well, which probably gets really crowded during ski season.
My bf and I wanted a bottle of wine.. but was informed by the friendly bartender that they were completely out of the "50 under $50" selection. Â Ridiculous. Â How could a bar/restaurant of that caliber be out of all 50 bottles of wine during the slowest season of the year? Â Was highly skepitcal and minorly annoyed, but we found a bottle that suited us fine and got over it.
overall a great bar for a relaxing, quiet drink.
This is a review of the bar only - not the hotel. We ended up eating at the bar as the main restaurant was booked solid, but they served the same menu at the bar.
Expierence was awesome. Up the funicular which then opens to the bar windows. The hostess was very nice and although there was no table available, she offere to call my mobile once one opened. I toured the hotel (gorgeous!) while waiting and was very impressed. Finally got the call and sat down at a nice window table. Bar itself was nice but not spectacular. The views and the patio, on the other hand, were magnificent.
I ordered the parmigiana encrusted chicken (off the charts good), my wife had the ceasar salad with chicken (good), and my kids had pasta (standard kid quality) grilled cheese (same) and chicken and broccoli (go for this - very good).
Sadly the service was quite poor. Took a while to get menus and then to order and then to get the food. Our waiter was doing his best, but they were clearly understaffed at the bar. Exhausted, our waiter shared that they have been at 100% occupancy since opening and he had worked every day for fourteen hours per day since day one. Yikes! Â This is a five star spot currently operating at three stars because of the service = four stars rating.
The St. Regis has been an interesting addition to the Deer Valley landscape. The outdoor patio on the run down to the Deer Crest chair is very inviting for lunch or drinks, and we've enjoyed it four or five times this season. Sadly, though, the service is just so consistently bad that I think we're finished. But the hot chocolate is to die for!
So far we've only been on the patio (where, by the way, smoking is common). Prices are actually pretty reasonable if you order wisely, with $5 beer. Seriously, the best choice is hot chocolate which is out of this world. I did one lunch and enjoyed a tasty macaroni and cheese for under $10.
But don't plan on getting a quick drink or having more than one if you don't have some time. We've waited excessively long on each visit to the point that it's really annoying. The wait staff are very, very nice, but they're just not competent in handling the service with any expediency.
Nonetheless, it's worth a try for a different stop after skiing. You can easily hop the funicular back to the Deer Valley parking lot. Or just valet your car at the bottom (no charge, just tip).
Cool, first to review! The St. Regis Bar opened last month as part of the new St. Regis Deer Crest Resort in Deer Valley, which manages to be even more five-star-chi-chi than even the legendary Stein Eriksen Lodge. Â The complex is a bit of a jarring sight for those of us who've been coming to DV with family since our middle school years: it's a massive edifice perched essentially on a cliff above the resort's main ski lodge, with a funicular up the mountain being the only way of accessing the place aside from skiing in. Â (There's a road to the place, but it's a private drive only for Deer Crest resident use. Â Yes, this is fairly bizarre arrangement, but there wasn't room to build a big resort *and* a parking garage, so the parking is at the bottom of the mountain. Â Blame Deer Valley Resort for insisting on selling all the land surrounding the St. Regis for multigazillion-dollar ski lodge/mansions, not parking lots.)
Both the bar and neighboring J&G Grill restaurant are products of the now-sprawling Jean-Georges Vongerichten group of gourmet dining and drinking. Â True to form, the bar's signature drink is perhaps the most elaborate Bloody Mary I've seen to date -- and I've seen quite a few. Â The bar delves into molecular gastronomy waters and employs a wasabi foam on top of the tomato-juice mix. Â Worcestershire and Tabasco are combined inside a squeezable pipette, used here also as a cocktail stirrer. Â On the bright side, the drink is freakin' amazing. Â On the down side, molecular gastronomy comes at a cost, and in this case it's $16, by far the most expensive thing on the cocktail menu (which averages about $11 for the in-house-concocted drinks). Â Speaking of which, the cocktails won't impress many die-hard mixology fans, but in Park City terms they're pretty good (and, this being Park City, there is of course a sizable collection of microbrews).
Although I've heard about mixed experiences from people who've dined at the J&G Grill, the food in the bar is first-rate. Â I'd give top marks to the beef carpaccio & fontina pizza (which is amazingly rich for something so small), but even the Caesar salad manages to have some originality to it (though it will offend puritans, given its lack of anchovies). Â The only disappointing part thus far is the service. Â There's only one server in the bar during apres-ski hours, which isn't really enough even on a weekday.
I'm tempted to give the St. Regis Bar five stars, but I have to bump it down a notch owing to the service and parking situation. Â Still, it's most certainly worth a visit, particularly if you're already skiing Deer Valley.
