If you visit Rix's web site, you would think you were about to be transported to a Miami-esque lounge where the party never stops. WRONG. The lounge, although gorgeous, was pretty low key. DJ? There was a dj booth, but no DJ to be found. And the waitresses? I had an easier time finding a hidden mickey. Â After the bartender told us that our waitress would be right over to our section, we waited patiently. Â She checked on party of 10 next to us, twice in 25 minutes, but never bothered to say hello to us. My friend waved at her and she pretty much non-verbally told her to stop waving, and still did not come over. EPIC FAIL. Â After complaining to the manager, we received a round of free drinks. Â WIN. Â However, the delicious coconut martini could not wash away the bitter bad service we received.
Review Source:We were celebrating his twenty third birthday and traveled to Florida. We stayed at Disney's Coronado Springs and wanted some alcohol. Mutually we agreed "This is Disney, they won't have liquor" - so imagine our pleasant surprise when we found Rix. We went for the purpose of having a drink or few and most nights the lounge was pretty empty.
One night though, we arrived when a college convention was in town and the place was packed. We ordered some mini burger things or something, I don't think they were sliders but whatever they were, they tasted super good!
If we're ever back in FL at Coronado Springs, we'll certainly visit again.
Oh, and we ended up finding another spot in the hotel where they sold liquor. Â Absolut, Captain Morgan, Jose Cuervo, etc. Straight alcohol to take back to the room and mix as we please :-)
Holy horrible, Batman. The opener to our stay here at Coronado (seperate review for THAT awful experience), and it was not so good. We sat down at the bar next to a gentleman that was trying to get served...and was being ignored. Apparently the young, hip crowd at the end of the bar was more important. It took at least 15 minutes to get a drink ordered. Got a dirty gin martini it which was pretty good, but the subsequent one was AWFUL. Tasted like vanilla or something. I think they need to actually CLEAN the shakers instead of rinsing them out. Got a replacment which was equally bad, but opted to just shut up at that point. Many, many others around us were not getting served either. The bartenders and manager almost always had their backs turned, playing with the computer and talking to one another. A bar server was helping us out at the bar and was the only saving grace. Awful, awful service. I thought I was at Disney and was supposed to be at the happiest place on earth, not the rudest?
Review Source:I guess I wasn't expecting much from a "nightclub" at a Disney Resort so when I came to Rix I didn't come with high expectations. The ambiance was nice, compared to the rest of the resort. There were plush sofas, cool swing chairs hung from the ceiling, with an overall lofty feel.
There is a small dance floor with lights galore. Laser lights, strobe lights, spot lights oh MY! At times the strobe lights were used a bit much, but it made for a good time. I went there on a Thursday night after a conference party and there was a DJ in full force. Overall he did a good job with the music, often times playing rave remixes...too bad I didn't have my glow sticks in hand.
They have a fully stocked bar, with limited staff so at times the wait for drinks can get long on a busy night. Overall I had an A-OK time. Good place to go to if you're looking to drink or dance at the Coronado and stay local, instead of heading to Downtown Disney.
I just read the other 2 reviews and will say that I went for the Black & Orange Ball for Halloween so it was a different experience ENTIRELY!  Went with a really large group 25 of us.  The place had  a line to get in before we got there at 10:30.  The hostess were gorgeous Drag Queens....so I was in love from the get go.  Nothing better than a fab Queen to take my money and usher me in.  The actual lounge was really upscale and nicely decorated, but the location is weird and yes the traffic down there is horrid.  That said its Disney property so I expected both of those things.  However, what I didn't expect was a really good dj, a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and the crowd was INSANELY awesome!  I mean the costumes were over the top amazing, we didn't have to deal with downtown craziness, and literally had a blast from the second we walked in till we got the boot when the place closed. Â
Would definitely go again for an event. Â It probably is too far out of my usual haunts way for me to go often, but would absolutely go again for Halloween!!!!!!!!
Oh the servers were very sweet and very accomodating but they were a little slow. Â HOWEVER, it was soooooo packed that I would expect that anywhere.
I had my expectations set pretty low after reading Maria-Cristina's review, but really the place isn't that bad. Â Who cares if nobody else is there anyway? Â I dropped in and there were several people there. Â It *is* in a Disney World resort, where the vast majority of visitors have kids in tow, so you're not going to see a lot of stragglers into an out-of-the-way bar. Â If there's no convention going at that resort, there's probably not a lot of potential customers. Â
Anyway, service was quick and friendly. Â Bartender had never heard of a Sidecar, which leads me to believe that he wasn't properly trained. Â But after explaining the drink to him, it was delicious.
I really hate to be writing this review considering how I ended up at Rix in the first place - I won a Twitter Trivia question and was given a $25.00 certificate to use at this lounge.
From the website, it seemed like a pretty posh lounge with a great drink list and exotic ambiance.
I was pretty excited although I wasn't looking forward to the hellish drive to the tourist trap of Orlando but, I wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth so drive I did.
Rix is inexplicably located INSIDE the Coronado Springs Resorts. You have to walk in through the check-in lobby and make a left at the cafeteria where you'll find the lounge. It's literally across from the hotel cafeteria. My boyfriend and I timidly stepped into the lounge (the hostess was no where to be found) and found the place completely empty. At 10:30. On a Saturday Night. We were baffled.
A DJ was in his own world spinning house music from his laptop and that was literally, the only other human being we could see.
I faced a dilemma - leave without using the coupon and appear ungrateful for the little treat or sit, humiliated in the loneliness of this bizarre situation. We decided to have at least one drink thinking that maybe, just maybe 11pm might be the magic hour people roll in.
At the bar, the bartender, the hostess and the COOK were all chitchatting with each other - that's how bored they were. I ordered a Strawberry Martini which was actually very good.
I had to ask, "Are...are you guys open right now or are we early?"
The hostess sort of shrugged, "We've been open for 3 hours" and walked away.
OK.
My boyfriend and I tried to enjoy the environment but when we looked over to the right our view was of the cafeteria and all the tired tourists with their families. With the bass pumping, I don't know how they could have been enjoying their meal and with this bleak, depressing atmosphere I decided we couldn't enjoy the rest of our night either.
We didn't finish our drinks and made a quick but discreet getaway.
