STP will not suffer from this review...and frankly I don't know if I want it suffer. Clearly the Orlando Theme Park crowd loves the place - and a recent expansion showcases that the owners are doing well.

I am frustrated that I chose not to drink (what if it was to be a DD) or eat - and just got a sweet tea. It was late...didn't think I needed a taco in the ol' tummy.

When I went to close out my nominal 2.40 tab, I was told that CC are a $10 minimum...so 'what do you want to do.'

It's a SWEET TEA. Can we just maybe comp the tea? I'm not making it a $10 tea. Thank goodness a friend said that I could bump to his tab. Just thought that based on the bar doing cash over fist after each order, that we could have let my sweet tea slide - but I guess not.

Just frustrated me and made me want to take to YELP. Was that $2.40 worth my carry over emotion to write a review about iced tea?

Upon first glance, Sloppy Taco Palace seems like a really hip joint--inconspicuously located off in the side corner of a large plaza, decorated with vintage beer lights...the place even has a large patio space. However, I have to say that my experience at STP was not quiet as epic as I imagined it could be. First off, we happened to be at STP during happy hour and it being a Tex-Mex place I was really jonesing for a half-price margarita. Sadly, I opened the drink menu and discovered that there weren't really even any margaritas on it--not even a classic margarita. We were still able to order cheap beers instead, but honestly the lack of a margarita upset me.

As far as the food goes, we decided to try out the sloppy tacos. And I have to say that the sloppy tacos were delicious, but honestly they weren't very filling and also weren't as flavorful as I was hoping. I was not impressed by the rice and beans either, which always depresses me because I love rice and beans and to me it almost seems weird that an actual restaurant would even be able to screw up this hispanic staple.

Overall, I would go back to give STP another shot. It seems that we were there very early in the day when the party hadn't quite got started yet. And hey, who knows, maybe the food tastes better at STP after a few more drinks?

I'm writing this based on the food only. I've been here twice for lunch during the week, and for a place with "Taco" in the name, they do a pretty mediocre job at making one. The tacos came stuffed with ingredients, but really didn't taste all that good.

The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of seating. I imagine it must be pretty good as a late night drinking establishment, but I haven't seen that side of it yet.

If your looking for good food, you'd be better off at Tijuana Flats down the street.
