Being in the hospitality industry, we decided to give this place another shot, as I've been here before and wasn't too impressed. This time around they sat us upstairs at the bar. (Didn't even know they had an upstairs) Bartenders were HILARIOUS (Patrick/Keith) Food took some time, but we enjoyed it.
The next day it was Patrick and Keith again. Kind of cool to see them twice on a weekend. Once again food was okay, but bartenders had drinks out quick and took care of us! Thanks Pat/Keith! We'll see you next year.
Looking for a place to eat before Blue Man group and we chose to eat here... well, as a Heat fan, NBA city only seemed correct.
I had one of the best philly cheesesteaks here that I have ever had.. I'm not largely picky about food and I was really hungry so I'm sure that contributed to my tasting but it was without a doubt real good. Girlfriend had the veggie burger and she had also finished the whole thing, which is surprising for her.
We had an irish server and he was really nice. He was always there when we needed him. Great job!
It was decent pricing for being in such an area, I expected it to be a little more expensive so I was pleased. The only things that are overpriced are the items in the gift shop... Parents beware, buy NBA gear on the NBA website, not here...
Let me just start out by saying that I am from Dallas and a Dallas Mavericks fan.
But, I am also a fan of good basketball, and since the season was more or less over for the Mavs long ago , I had been following the Playoffs for quite some time.
Game 7 was on Thursday night , and  I was on vacation visiting Orlando. Naturally, I could have stayed in my hotel and watched the game but I wanted to be in a different atmosphere, surrounded by drunk Heat/Spurs fans.
We arrived about 2 minutes after tip off, and the restaurant is packed, as expected. My small group of three decide to go upstairs to the other bar area to go get a beer and watch the game standing up. We were, after all, in the bar area.
I finally made it to the bar after sliding my way through many Heat and Spurs fans alike. Despite the place being packed, it wasn't as busy or hectic as I thought it would be. Most people had already gotten their drinks and were watching the game.
I'm not expecting to buy a cheap beer but I order what's on tap. The bartender took about 6 minutes to serve me and another 2 just to give me my tab.
They have a bizarre system where you fill out your name and your table, if you have one, before they run your card. Next time(if there is a next time) I will remind myself to bring cash.
About 4 minutes before halftime, I'm not surprised to see that some people have left the restaurant, which had about 3-4 open tables.
I ask the hostess upstairs(who was a doll!) if we can get a table upstairs in front of the big screen. There was an open table for about 5 minutes. She tells me that I have to go downstairs to talk to the other hostess.
The "manager/hostess" then proceeds to ignore me for about 2 minutes and when I finally do get her attention she glares at me and asks me if she can help me. After working in the restaurant business for about 5-6 years, I completely understand and have total sympathy when waitstaff and the like are stressed. But this place was not as busy , there were no lines, there was no wait time. Â So I nicely ask if there are any tables downstairs or upstairs. I let her know that about 3 tables were open upstairs. Then a waitress rudely interrupts me and asks me where . I am taken aback since I wasn't being impatient , but at this point I start to get irritated.
I then am told that they are no longer taking "names" down because they are "busy." I dont get an apology , or anything.
So, I am a little pissed off, considering that there are 3 tables open, DOUBTFUL that someone would reserve a table in the MIDDLE of the game.
I shrug it off for the most part, UNTIL...I see two women come up the stairs and talk to the hostess (THEY JUST WALKED IN, and we were there for about 30 minutes ) and they get seated immediately.
This is pretty much the breaking point of the night. I already have spent about $35 dollars in drinks and been standing the whole time. It's not like I was loitering in there, just watching the game.
After several requests for tables were ignored, I was finally sat down in the freaking corner of the bar, where the tiny TV was. I considered this an insult, since we were finally sat down, an hour later. No drink was strong enough, and no memorabilia awesome enough was going to calm me down after being treated like an idiot.
That is, until our super sweet waiter, I think his name was Angel(PERFECT NAME) came over and sympathized with us and noticed we were not Heat fans(damn right) and quickly took our drink orders and apologized for all the inconvenience .
Long story short, if it werent for our waiter being so incredibly sweet and funny I would have stormed out of this place. The drinks were okay , the atmosphere and the wonderful NBA history displayed is great , but the service is absolutely terrible. Â I dont think I'll go back , even to step inside the store.
Very disappointed.
