We drove over an hour to try this place at a friend's recommendation.  Upon entering it felt cozy.  The decor was okay.  There are 2 sections, the bar area in the front when you walk in and a dining area in the back.  We opted for the dining room because it was quieter and there was only one other family in there.  I'll begin by saying the fish was good and the Thai Curry Seafood soup was really, really good.  The ambiance was nice, especially after someone dimmed the lights.  Eric, our server was very nice and met all of our needs.  I would have rated this restaurant 4-stars had it not been for Lana.  Lana was an employee, possibly on a break -I don't know, or possibly just didn't have enough to do.   Either way, she is representing the company and made a very poor impression.  Lana was oblivious to the fact that there were other paying guests in the dining room, who were trying to enjoy their dinner; guests that had just driven over an hour to try this place. From the moment we sat down at our table, Lana, with her LOUD, screechy and VERY abrasive voice engaged in a LOUD conversation with the only other family in the room.  She even dropped the word "shit"  a couple of times.  She sat down at the table with them (as if she may have known them) and proceeded to transform the serene restaurant atmosphere to something similar to a Chuck E. Cheese. I feel this behavior is completely acceptable in the bar area, but we we in the DINING ROOM.   Rather than stay for after dinner drinks, we got up to find Eric so we could settle our bill.  I offered our concerns to Eric and then to the bartender in charge.  One employee tried to justify her behavior with something about her having a really good heart and liking animals.  I stared at him and pointed out that it had nothing to do with her job or our dining experience.  In the spirit of good customer service, no compensation was offered...except the bartender offer me a drink that I cold enjoy in the crowded bar area (keeping in mind, I could still hear Lana carrying on from the other room.  I can say with 100% certainty that I will NOT return to this establishment and I will NOT recommend it to anyone.  If you decide to visit this restaurant, I highly  recommend calling ahead to make sure Lana is not working.

Cheap decor comes to mind when reviewing this place. The beers on tap suck. Boring place with no good looking women. I won't be back to this British dump.

Randomly found this place on yelp while browsing. Came here around 1 o'clock in the afternoon on a Sunday. There were about 10 people in the whole place and yet the service still managed to completely suck. Took 20 minutes just to have our order taken, about 45 minutes to get the food, and then never saw the waitress again. Had to walk over to the bar area and ask the bartender for our check. I'd understand a bit more had the place been packed, but like I said, there were literally 10 people in the whole place. (I had time to count while waiting.)

Basically, this place was awful. Never coming back.

This place just ticked me off!! Possibly racist?? Now I think about it, I'm pretty sure its true because about 2 weeks ago, when I was about to go in this place for lunch, this guy pulled me aside and said, "Don't go in there. They are racist." I just laughed, smiled, and said I come in here all the time for lunch because its the closest restaurant near my work place!!" He just gave me a look of warning and walked away. Today, I didn't buy any food or anything YET. I went in to use their restroom and then to decide later. A waitress by the name of Lorraine was outside waiting for me as I came out of the restroom. She said to me, "Our owner have requested that you do not use the restroom here anymore!" I was shocked and surprised that she had said that because I AM A PAYING customer damnit!!!

I try very hard to remain calm, because deep down inside I want to raise my hand to her face. I asked her, "Why not?!" She said, "Because every time you go in there, you pee everywhere and its such a mess!!" I'm like "WTF!!! How in the world did I pee everywhere!!! Do you have a camera on me that I did that?!" She then have the nerves to say that after every time I go in there, she goes right in after me to do a check up to make sure its all clean. I said, ME? Out of everyone in this restaurant it just so happens to be me that pee everywhere?! She hurriedly and walked away leaving me very mad!! I wished I knew how they have felt about me from the beginning because I have been wasting my money ORDERING FOOD and drinks!! PAYING CUSTOMER PAYING FOR THEM TO STAY IN BUSINESS!!! Lord only knows what they have been doing to my food in the kitchen, now that I think about it. I FELT SO HARRASSED!!

I found out later, Lorraine, this WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL waitress... is the OWNER herself!! How wonderful you are Lorraine. Do you remember you had a conversation with me before that you been working here for over 20 years? Over 20 years of experience with customers, your customer skills should be EXCELLENT!!! PERFECT!!! MAGNIFICENT!!!

You are a creep and so is your husband who picked me out of over 30 people in your restaurant who have lunch there to check on my pee every time I use your restroom. Seriously?! Who the hell does that! I would like to say, if it is my pee on your toilet, MAN UP Lorraine and clean that ish up!! IT IS YOUR JOB!!! I can throw up all over your bathroom if I want because maybe I got sick from your food!! To clear this up about ME peeing ALL over your bathroom, every time I'm in there, their are paper towels on the floor, paper on the toilet seats and I have to flush it before I go. I pee and wipe after wards, if you must know, Lorraine!! I don't have a man's private part where I can just PEE EVERY WHERE all over the walls as you have quoted. Today, when I was in your restroom, there was pee in the toilet from your other customer and since you worked there, I'm surprise you didn't go in to flush it before I went in there!! YOU HAD ME FLUSH IT???!! So to do you a favor, I flushed it, used it and flushed!!!!!! WHY DIDN'T YOU THANK ME FOR FLUSHING OTHER CUSTOMERS PEE FOR YOU!????!?!!!  YOU SHOULD'VE PAID ME FOR THAT!!!

You are the most rudest and most obnoxious person I have met this year by far. Hopefully you are not really racist like they say about you and your restaurant Lorraine. Definitely never coming back. I'm sure you will miss my pee. You have the nerves to say "the owner" but when you literally mean yourself!!!

For all you review readers, if you do not believe me, you can ask her yourself. Mention this girl always coming in for lunch and peeing in the bathroom if I leave pee everywhere. Hey, Lorraine... did you make sure to examine my pee carefully?? Because if you take my pee to the place that buys gold, mine worth a LOT of money!!!!!! Now you got me curious, did you smell my pee???? I would like to leave this sour note with some manners for you. The word pee is used by toodlers. The word URINE or URINATE are used by mature people. If you want to be more lady like, you can slide with the word TWINKLE.

Sorry Yelpers, I'm so busy cursing this no sense woman out that I didn't even provide any reviews for their food! Where are my manners?? The food here are terrible! I never had the same thing more than once because none of it was that great!! Only reason I come here every now and then is because there aren't too many restaurants near my job. Bangers and Mash is absolutely tasteless. The fish was not prepared that well. The fish was very slimy and it had a smell to it. Chicken tenders taste like Carls Jr down the street. Steak. I asked for medium. It was so well done.

Last week, my co worker and I came in here for beer. She had ordered fried zucchini. Our waitress, ohhh you are going to love this, LORRAINE took our order. My co-worker asked her, how long does the zucchini take? Lorraine said, "as long as it takes to cook it." REALLY?!!! This place doesn't deserve anyone's business.

The morning I landed in London my friend took me out for a hearty breakfast. At the time, I had never had a "Traditional English Breakfast" - I thought ohh teas, crumpets and the whole sha-bang.

Beans, Sausage, Toast, Chips, Eggs - I could feed a family with this meal! So fast forward 2 years later and having raved over and over again about my craving... my beau and I found Robin Hood and oh boy was I in for a treat.

Cute hole in the wall joint with parking & entry on the backside. Very dim in here but it definitely sets the mood for a laid back/local vibe. Lots of TVs near there bar area is your interested in watching a game here. Their staff is beyond friendly and attentive. Their Traditional English Breakfast will cost you around $15 and is a hefty meal! I will be back to try other menu items such as the fish and chips!

&& they have Kronenbourg *happy dance*

Excellent fish and chips. Service can be iffy and the prices lean towards the high side, but I still enjoy an occasional lunch here.

Went here for a birthday, I ordered a guiness and a fish and chips dinner.

Typical small size of a beer, about the size of a small I'd get at a music club or something, but still satisfying.  However, the fish and chips were awkwardly soggy and crispy at the same time as well as very very very oily.

Had some of the bangers and mash, though.  Very good, I'll get that next time.

This is a local hang out that my buddy Theron L would visit back in the 80s. I must say when we stopped here while road tripping to see friends, we met quite a few local characters that were all really friendly, including an interesting chef. Theron actually ran into a friend of his he knew from the area. Some things never change.

The happy hour is pretty great - it occurs early and late so if you miss the early time, go back for the later one. I think it's everyday from 4pm-7pm and later on from 10pm - 12am. Don't quote me on the exact hours.

I had a curry pie, samosas, and turkey sliders which were all fantastic. The cider seemed to hit me pretty quickly the first time around, but the second time, I was doing all right. Prices are really reasonable during happy hour.

I'll most likely be back if I'm vising friends again and since one my friends is a hop and a skip away, you'll most likely find me taking over the jukebox and sitting at the bar eating and having a cider.

Staff are super friendly here. Tip them well.

Great Happy-Hour! Every day from 4pm-7pm (they also have another one after 10 pm). $3 a glass of draft beer and some well-drinks. The munchies' menu is great, with a wide variety of appetizers, various baskets of fries (regular, Julienne, curly, spicy) under $2-$3, sliders (very good) for around $5 (3 of them), Cajun grilled chicken. Love their fried zucchini w. ranch dressing (the batter is the same they use for their fish- so delicious!), mozzarella sticks, quesadillas, shrimp cocktail, calamari and the list goes on. Very reasonable prices. We love to share about 3 items and a couple of beers and that's dinner out sometimes in a fun place that we enjoy a lot!

Although at first I thought I had stepped back into the 80's as I walked through the back door, I was pleasantly surprised  once we found a nice table in the corner.

It's pretty crazy to think your actually in LA when your sat in this place, because it's just like an english pub, and hearing so many english accents I kept thinking I was back in England.

This place seems to be a friendly place, the waitress was very nice and the food (Fish n Chips) was great, alot of good choices on the menu.

We went in the day when it was'nt too busy but i'm sure it gets it's fair share of interesting characters in the evenings.
They also have pub quiz's, which I imagine are pretty fun.
So all in all.....definatley worth going to if your in LA and craving fish n Chips!!

The only reason why I give this place such a high rating is because of the Fish n Chips. I haven't been here to drink or eat anything else. I only come here to eat the Fish n Chips. They are beyond compare. The big portion of fish they give you that is perfectly beer battered, crisp and fluffy is accompanied by great fries, tartar sauce, and lemon wedges. This plate deserves the trip alone.

I love pubs, especially pubs with a good kitchen. This place is cozy without being cramped, has a great waitstaff and owner, and the food is great! I love the fish and chips, chicken curry pie, and cornish pastie. On top of that, beer on tap (including Guinness and cider, so you can get a nice Black Velvet, as well). Good for a drink, dinner, family, and friends.

Amazing, amazing, amazing. Great food! Asked for a cup of tea and received a 5 cup pot of tea with a cozy over it...finally!

Atmosphere is nothing special, but who cares, the food is great! I got the Bangers and Mash, and my friends got a Reuben and the biggest Cornish Pasty I've ever seen. It looked so good, I got one to go. We all loved our food and left with giant smiles.

Possibly the best part of this Pub is the shop next to it, The Friar Tuck Shoppe. It's got  a ton of English candy, tea, and basics. Food like sausage rolls, Monster Munch, Lion bars, Heinz beans, proper bacon, bangers, and more. It's not a big store, but if you want some of those British flavors, this is the shop to visit.

The only downside for me is the bartender. He's rude. Acts like he owns the place, but he doesn't, and he's a smart ass. I would probably go there a lot more if he wasn't so rude.

Not really sure why everyone is raving about the fish and chips....
The fry batter they use on everything is awful. They use it on the fried mushrooms and zucchini as well. I would totally love the zucchini since they are more like wedges but the batter totally ruins it. I've had fish and chips in England and Robin Hood doesn't come close.
I am a regular here as I play trivia on Tuesday nights. The happy hour specials are great I will give them that!

Service: As for the wait service if you get Louise- It's 5 stars. She is attentive, willing to fix any problem, always has a pitcher of water on the table for us, makes good menu recommendations and able to multitask,
If you get Leia- it's 1 star. She pretty much ignores you and after literally flagging her down she still will act like she didn't see you. I absolutely dread when she waits on us. What a terrible server. (After coming to RH for over a year, last night I was waited on by Leia and sparked my need to finally write a review)
And the blonde server (Lana I believe) also 1 star. She has a horrible attitude and seems to always bark at you.

Food: It's so hit or miss. Sometimes it's awesome, and then sometimes it's over cooked or undercooked. Lightly toasted bread comes out rock hard, veggie burger/black bean burger comes out as a hockey puck, the pasties are either burnt to a crisp or raw dough. The past 2 visit were I've ordered a side salad, it has come with just lettuce, I had to ask (both times) for the cucumber, tomatoes and carrots it is supposed to be served with. Moreover, the mediocre food is way overpriced. For being called Robin Hood they shouldn't be stealing from the poor.

So to be honest,  I only come for the trivia. I have never come here just to dine and probably never will.

    Happy Hour Review

This place is as good as it gets for Happy Hour.  7 days a week, 4-7pm. 1/2 off on All draft beer and house wine ($3.00 for Newcastle) $3.00 well drinks,  and an ever growing bar menu which includes some healthy choices (Grilled chicken tenders-not breaded, lean burger sliders, avocado stuffed with baby shrimp).  I've been coming here for years and it's always packed with Brits.  Robin Hood has that authentic British pub feel, more so than any other pub in the valley.  In addition, their regular menu is great too (bangers and mash, shephards pie, fish and chips, steak and mushroom pie).  And I cannot forget their fresh soups made every week.  Delish!  There's a reason why I'm a regular here.

Happy Hour 7 days a week 4-7pm,  10pm-midnight.  Free Wifi

They have the best fish and chips I've ever had. I recommend the cole slaw over their salad, though. Their tea is delicious, too. Their breakfasts are so big you have to share them. The staff are patient and gracious, too. The decor could use a little sprucing up, but overall we love taking out-of-town guests there.  They're never disappointed and usually end up going back to try another item on the menu.

We ordered the fish & chips and were disappointed because the chips weren't like Brit style chips and more like McDonald's, only not as good. The fish planks were a bit small but tasted good.  Too expen$ive for what we got.
The hot teas we ordered were great & they came covered with the coolest tea pot cozies I've ever seen.  The parking situation there sucked too.

The atmosphere was a bit divey and  the service was slow & unfriendly.

I have to say that I wasn't quite sure what to think of this place at first.  After a few beers and a very friendly server, I was hooked!  Definitely will go back.  Be sure to decide prior to going if you want a quite sit-down dinner, or a lively happy hour-ish experience.  They have two different rooms (one for each).  I'll always go with the latter...

    That's all.

Well, I am back to update my review.  I have been getting fabulous food at Robin Hood lately.  I haven't revisited the french dip, but I have had the Shepard's Pie, which has to be the best dish I've had in a long time.  My sister has gotten various items from their specialty menu, which changes from day to day, and she has never been disappointed.  The waitresses are usually very nice, and give good service.  In fact, my friend (from the prior review) and I are going there tomorrow.  She is coming into town, and specifically requested Robin Hood.

By the way, their drinks are excellent!

Went with my friends, i didn't have much to eat, however everyone seems to really approve of the bangers and mash, along with the fish and chips. My friend gave his recommendation for the french onion soup. The service was fine, and as i usually only drink water at restaurants it was nice to be offered refills so many times.

The one thing i have to rave about is the dessert. It wasn't necessarily bread pudding but kind of a sticky toffee/pudding/break dessert that i ended up really enjoying. Give it a try.

I could eat fish every day.  It's brain food, you know.  That must explain my massive intelligence and IQ.

    Ahem....moving on.

I love fish and chips, and the fish and chips at Robin Hood suits me just fine.  The fish batter is crunchy and delicious, and the fish is always wonderful...perfectly cooked, tender and moist.   Portions are quite large, and a half order (one piece) usually does it for me.

One star comes off for the mediocre chips.  They're non exceptional.  True, I go primarily for the fish, but better-than-average chips would certainly be a plus.

I've never had anything else here, but The Husband, who won't eat fish unless it's tune from a can (I have no explanation for this), has had a few non-fish items from the menu and has enjoyed them all.

The place is divided into two parts:  There's the pub, which is somewhat dark and must had been VERY smokey in the good ol' days, and the dining room which is rather quaint with its much lighter Edwardian on....pseudo-Edwardian exterior.  Both are fine, although I prefer the pub side if you can get a table there.  For family dining, however, the restaurant side is the way to go.

Service is normally swift and friendly.  The waitstaff is very happy to help you make a beer choice if you are seeking such assistance.

I have to throw in a special shout-out for the tartar sauce.  Normally, I'm a malt vinegar girl, but the tartar sauce at Robin Hood is made in house and is exceptional....absolutely like no other tartar sauce I've ever had.  It certainly perks up those blasé chips.

I've been here a few times. Once for the bar on the last night some friends from the Midwest were in town, once for lunch, and once for... afternoon tea? Yes. Afternoon tea. Now, please stay with me. You may be wondering to yourself, who goes to a bar and orders afternoon tea? The British do, apparently. And why not, really? If you ask me, that's doing life right.

As far as Robin Hood's tea service goes, the selection is very simple. It's not like going to an actual tea room and having your run at Ramona Flowers' cupboard full of different flavors. You get a pot of English Breakfast, a slice of battenburg cake, a scone with jam and devon cream, and your choice of finger sandwiches. There are a few things to note in regards to all this. The scone came to the table in a weird transition state between warm and cold, which I take to mean that it had just been briefly run through a microwave. This kind of brings me to my secondly, in which I am unsure of whether or not the pastries were baked in house. Either way, the cake and scones were actually pretty good. Especially with the real devonshire cream, as I'd like to think no self respecting British establishment would serve anything else.

Anyhow, and thirdly, my boyfriend ordered the salmon and cucumber sandwiches, and he seemed fairly impressed by them. There wasn't really a vegetarian choice with the sandwiches, and I didn't want to ask the server to change things around for me, so I can't really comment on them. As to their other food, I've had their vegetable soup which was delicious, and Dan has had their fish and chips. I believe he thought the chips to be rather forgettable, but he did quite enjoy the fish. I mean, it smelled good from where I was sitting. As your resident vegetarian, that's all I have to offer on the subject.

Also, as always, I'm a little out of my element when reviewing bars or alcoholic beverages, but I think the drinks here are okay. The night the Midwest crew was in town, I seem to recall mostly good comments.

Prices are pretty average, and the service has been varied, but you know what, guys? They serve beer and tea here. Beer... and tea. Quantum physics tried to tell me we live in a universe of infinite possibilities, but I don't know that I believed it until now. I am duly awed.

One of our favorite neighborhood "hangs". I spent 7 weeks touring the U.K. with a band in 2009, and had a lot of fish & chips on the road well-traveled, but I have NEVER had fish & chips as good those at Robin Hood!

The beer is great, the other food is very authentic (love the Shepherd's Pie), the service is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting.

Next time you're in the area, check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Aside from the obvious convenience of someone else cooking my food there are three reasons why I go to a restaurant. First, and foremost, is the food. It's gotta be good. Second, and just as important, is the service - I've purposely never gone back to a restaurant because their food was bangin' but their service sucked. Everyone wants to feel like they're important when they go to a restaurant and PAY for food because it's not just the food you're paying for. It's the service too. And third, is cleanliness -- not a super deal breaker, but if there's not an "A" on the window, we won't go in at all.

We walked into this place and it was hoppin'. Someone, who I think was the owner, named Jerry, met us at the back door (where all the parking is), with a big scowl on his face. He was barking orders at not only the waitstaff but the clientele as well. He ordered us to a big table by the front door, which was totally fine, but he KNEW we weren't regulars (because it was obvious this was a "regulars" kind of place) and didn't bother to welcome us or introduce himself or anything. He dropped us at our table and that was that.

There were three of us who met there for dinner. While sitting there waiting faaaar too long for our waitress, Lana, one of us recognized a couple of regulars. They sat and chatted for a good 3-5 minutes, all the while, we were waiting for Lana. The grumpy Jerry happened to walk by and it was then that we were formally introduced. He was short and huffy, he reminded me of an ex-boss that I'm very happy I no longer work for. He didn't bother to ask if we needed drinks or if our waitress had come by.

Even more minutes later, Lana finally came over and while asking us for our drink order she saw a Groupon certificate sitting on the table, her tone immediately changed. She got snooty when we asked about "happy hour" appetizers. She told us we would have to do separate checks for the discounted appetizers from the Groupon meals. We ordered our appetizers and I ordered a beer and she took off.

I got up to go to the restroom - WOW, this was THE cleanest restroom I've EVER seen in a bar. That Jerry runs a TIGHT ship. (Too tight, it seems).

Lana brought us our appetizers, we ordered calamari, which was burned crisp and jalapeno poppers, which was brought with a runny, spicy sauce of some sort. She dropped everything off so fast and didn't bother to ask if we needed anything, so we had to wait until she ran by again to ask for ranch dressing to go with the poppers, while our food sat there and got cold.

We ate a bit of the calamari and finally called Jerry over, (because he was closest, not because we were tattling on Lana, although I'm sure that's what she thought) and asked him to bring us some that weren't so burned. He gruffly said "well, that's the way it comes, but I'll see what I can do...." he took the plate and shortly after we saw him and Lana talking then he came to our table to inform us that we couldn't split the check for the "happy hour" appetizers and the groupon dinners - that we had to pay full price for the appetizers.  He made his statement then shuffled off, quickly. Didn't bother to get a response from us. We all looked at each other like, "well, ok Bossman!" - I guess the customer isn't ALWAYS right. So far, they were striking a big fat zero on customer service.

Our food came and it was definitely more than we could eat. The fish was icelandic cod, which is my favorite -- it's tender and fluffy and flakes off in big chunks. Their fish was crusted in a weird sorta tempura breading that puffed up when dropped in the grease. So, IF you go, be sure to only order one or split the plate with someone - it's a LOT of food. The food was great.

This is when Lana started becoming MUCH nicer, because I'm sure she realized her tip was in jeopardy. FINALLY, a bit of service! She asked if we needed anything else, she refreshed our drinks and brought us our check. I NORMALLY tip 20% every time. This time, I DID tip on the original amount, which you're supposed to, according to Groupon. But, she only got 15%, much better than some folks, but low by my standards.

To sum up, the food is great, but expect to be treated "less than" if you carry any sort of coupon in or aren't a "regular". And I just dare you to TRY to get a smile out of the "keeper of the tight ship, Jerry".

The two stars are for the good food and clean bathroom.

We won't be going back anytime soon.
