What a joke! Super weak drinks,  super gross food,  super bad service! We had the mini burgers,, potato skins, and chicken strips. They were all super dry , gross, and totally just taken out of the freezer. Our server never came out to check on us, we had to go find her, every time we wanted another drink, and our tab. Will never go to this place again.

Alpha bar - the Letter K

    King's Head II

King's Head II is the sister bar to Ye Olde King's Head down in Santa Monica.  One improvement is it's in the Valley.  Well, I mean, this has it's ups and downs.  Sure, you can't walk to the beach, but you also don't have to pay to park. I'm a cheapskate, so I'm liking this one better already.

King's Head II (let's just call it #2 from here on out; I don't want to have to write out the whole name of this place for the rest of this review.  I don't care if you think tht's lazy on my part - I call it efficiency) is a nice looking place.  Little (very little, just a couple tables) patio area out front..  I strolled through it to find a nice long bar to my right and a rather large dining area to my left. down further there was a little nook with some of my alphabar cronies tucked inside, already imbibing their snakebites and black and tans, trying to pass themselves off as english, and failing mightily.  I mean, at least I showed up in my Union Jack Tee shirt. Because I am commited, Yo.

A little further past that, there were a couple of tables down a smalll set of stairs and a couple of steel tip dart boards.  I love me some steel tip dart boards.  Oh yes I do.  We played a couple of games and were generally having a great time when a guy comes out and tells us (in a british accent, no less) that he's going to be setting up his DHJ equipment and we'll have to stop playing darts.

I'[m thinking to myself, "this is an english pub, right?  And the english thing to do right now would be to knee him in the junk and punch him in the back of the head a few times for his insolence all the while screaming , "ISN'T THAT A STICKY WICKET!!!!!"

I decided against this, as I had a thing the next day and a night in jail, while fine for your average Liverpoolian ( I assume that's how you identify someone who lives in Liverpool), it wouldn't work so well for my with my boyish good looks and penchant for annoying the hell out of people.  Those two things don't translate well to jail.  But seriously, you're gonna block of the dart board so you can play music that we were pretty much hearing over the radio already?  Right in front of the dart baord, when there is an ENTIRE ABANDONED DINING ROOM.  Dinner service was over.  Nope, I'm going to set up right where you guys are having fun, and I'm going to force my music on you.  Double whammy!  English pub, my bollacks.

Okay, so outside of that, this place was pretty great.  The food was good (fish and chips had better be good at an English Pub), beer was farily priced, the space was open and inviting. Everyone in the alphabar party seemed to be having a pretty jolly time.  And a lot of good english beers on tap. If they'd let us keep playing darts, I would ahve given this place four stars.  As it is, three stars.

Upcoming this week - the letter L.  Which I beleive stands for Liquor.  which I will be imbibing in copious amounts.  Looking forward to it.
