Rocco's is a small pub along Rt.7. It is a very comfortable place to sit and grab a drink and some food. They have a decent beer and drink selection at fair prices. The best part is the food. The best way to describe it is bar food with a twist. I would highly recommend the truffle fries with whatever sandwich you are getting. Every day they also have a variety of food specials that always look delicious and interesting.
I have been here twice and have enjoyed it both times. It is a very small place so during peak times it is pretty hard to get a table.
What a happy little find this place was! Â
My friend/neighbor goes here often and always talked about it. Â After 6 months of living in the area I never made the venture out to it. Â Last night a friend of mine came down and we decided to check it out.
Its a hole in the wall. Â Literally. Â Small, Narrow, Limited seating but you dont feel crowsded in. Â The kitchen is open and visible which is always nice to make sure there isnt any mucking around. Â
Not the largest meny I've ever seen but defintely has something for everyone. Â We started with some buffalo wings which were better than average. Â I always hesitate ordering wings at a new place in fear of being served those goddamn WingDing things. Â Those things are BULLS#!T. Â I got the mushroom burger which came with mushrooms, grilled onions and a honey truffle aoli. Â My friend got a burger with avacado, bacon, cheese and i believe a jalapeno aoli on it. Â Thank god we split the burgers because we both couldnt decided which we wanted...and they were both pretty damn good. Â The sauces were right on...not overpowering. Â The burgers were cooked correctly...which is always a plus. Â
The bar has a small beer selection on tap but its got enough to keep it interesting.
Prices? Â Meh. Â Not high...but not low. Â 2 burgers w/ fries, order of wings and two beers (one craft and one tall) came to $44. Â
Oh...i forgot to mention...it was also a Ladies' Night...so a DJ started playing music around 9:30 and the whole place filled with a lazer light show. haha. Â Not gonna lie...wasnt even mad. Â
Will ABSOLUTELY be going back again!
Mmm Rocco Fries, burgers, and flatbreads. Rocco's is definitely a place where you can find a crowd, good food, expansive drink menu, and  friendly service without heading to Providence.  The decor is a bit cheesy, but the food makes up for it. Anything involving their burgers, fries, flatbreads, or salads is a home run; fish and chips leave something to be desired.  Be sure to get there early because this place is packed!
Review Source:Stopped here after a soccer match. Â Nice surprise in the middle of the burbs.
Five stars for the food and value .. it's not a high end place, but the quality is excellent for the price and convenience. Â Ambience as Kay R. says is a bit lacking. Â Peter G's experience in Dec 2012 indicates that things may have taken a downturn however.
This place seems to have a bit of a personality disorder. Â The interior is very tacky. Â It looks like how a 12 yr old boy would chose to decorate his basement bedroom. Â Fake brick with graffiti.....very strange.
It's very small inside and the music was blaring. Â I don't really mind loud music when it's good. Â But it was awful. Â One Direction (don't ask me how I know them), Miley Cirus, etc. Â I went on a Wednesday or Thursday night around 7 and the crowd was older adults. Â I could not figure out why they were blaring tween music. Â Very confusing and distracting when you're trying to eat and have a conversation.
Now on to the positives: Â
$4 martinis. Â Giddy up!
Awesome and friendly service.
Yummy food - try the Little Big Mac sliders. Â Holy shit.
If they could figure out what they're trying to be I think I'd love the place. Â Currently it seems they're trying to be a bit of everything - neighborhood bar, dance club with no dance floor, gastro pub, hip trendy club. Â It's a mash of competing identities....
UPDATE12/18/12 Been back here twice since my last review. They appear to have new kitchen staff and as a perceived result the food is now adequate - it used to be outstanding. This was also the opinion of my dining partner. Once we thought it was a minor hiccup, twice no way. Specifically$15 for the smaller fish and chips is too much for the quantity of food and #2 Bolognese sauce on a pasta bowl was not enough and was brown not red - the tase was good though, but like the fish and chips there was not enough quantity. Â Disappointed, it may be some time before we go back but I do hope they make the effort to return to quality good value for money food.
Review Source:At first I thought Rocco's consulted the makers of Grand Theft Auto to create the vibe for the restaurant, from their interior design (its faux exposed brick/graffiti, animal print furniture) to its, er, bouncy staff. Seriously though, it's low key good neighborhood bar food, the service was attentive, and bonus point, currently there is an active yelp check in discount special.
Review Source:Went here to celebrate a friend"s birthday and she ordered a veggie flatbread aka pizza and I had a Caesar salad with chicken. Everything was okay, nothing special. Probably won't make my way there again. Service was good. Place is small and music was loud and mostly rap/hip hop. And yes getting to the bathroom is a bit of trouble and one of the stalls was so small that my knees hit against the door when siting down. Just speaking truth - haha.
Review Source:For the food and service (from Dan, the bartender) we've received on our two visits, 4-stars. Â Great variety of well-priced food: burgers, pastas, salads, sliders (including shrimp sliders served with guac and in tortillas, AMAZING), lobster mac 'n cheese, and different daily specials (which our friend described as "not what I expected, but exactly what I wanted").
The visual ambiance is trendy - but not too much. Â "Exposed" brick (ie: fake brick that is designed to look as though the plaster has fallen away in part), chalkboard paint up on the walls, and animal print seats. Â
Another win? Â Outdoor seating. Â Some tables with umbrellas and a few picnic tables. Â Although the view is of Douglas Pike, you're far enough out that it seems more country road than highway.
So why the three stars?
The bathrooms are not inside the restaurant, but common to the 'office complex'. Â They were pretty dingy and difficult to find. Â Also, if it were late, I am not sure how safe I would feel walking out the back door of Rocco's, down the hall, and down the other hall (which I missed the first time and almost ended up in the basement) despite the signs that state "video surveillance in use".
Also - the music. Â A little too loud, and a little too club-y. Â I came out for good food and a drink, not to dance (or notice my shoulders involuntarily moving to the beat). Â I could understand if it was 9pm on Friday - not at 5/6pm on a Sunday.
Honestly, I think the overwhelming music may keep us from going back - if that were a little less obtrusive, this could be the reason to head the outside Providence!
Decided to check this place out after seeing it in Providence monthly. We came here on a Friday night around 9pm. The place was pretty busy because of the celtics game. We got seated quickly by our waitress who was nice and attentive the whole time. I ordered the ham and cheese panini which was pretty good, nothing special. The side salad it came with was kind of gross. It had some weird dressing on it I just wasnt fond of. It's a nice little place I think for drinks so that's what I would come back for but only if I was in the area.
Review Source:Where has this place been all my life? I just discovered Rocco's with some friends a few weeks ago, and I'm addicted.
The first time I walked in, I was immediately tickled by the decor. It's nothing super fancy, but they've got all kinds of animal print furniture and colorful stuff that makes the place pop. They've also got some outdoor seating that's surrounded by tiki torches.
The service is friendly, and typically quick as long as the place isn't packed. The drinks are also VERY well priced. The last time I went, I was drinking 7&7's at $5 a piece.
Make sure you get the riblets appetizer with the lime and peanut sauce. They're incredible. So good I could probably eat three helpings in the blink of an eye.
The pub cheese is a good snack if you just need something to munch on with your beers. It comes with simple breadsticks, but the cheese itself is fantastic. It's a bunch of cheeses all blended together with horseradish, and lord knows I'm a sucker for horseradish.
You really can't go wrong with any of the burgers or flatbreads. The cheeseburger sliders are probably the best deal: only $6.95 for three sliders with fries, and there was really no way I could finish it all. The burgers are decent, but the fries are perfectly crispy and very well seasoned.
This place is a bit of a hike from the city, but it's seriously worth it if you're looking for some quality pub food and good service.
I stopped into Rocco's one late afternoon. It's a cute little spot. Â It is primarily a bar with an open kitchen and lots of TVs. There are a few tables including a nice big table in the window. I was greeted by a friendly, though very young staff.
The riblets were highly recommended and I have to agree. Nice to see some different things on a menu. I had a less than stellar Linguini with white clam sauce. I think I will stick with the pub food. Everything that people were eating around me looked delicious. The staff made up for anything lacking in the food. They were a lot of fun and made stopping in a nice way to end my day.
I had a second experience at Rocco's that didn't go as well as the first with the staff. I walked in a bit later in the day than previously. The bar was starting to fill up but there was still plenty of room. I was greeted by the bartender and the server I had at my last visit. There were 4 or 5 staff members and the owner standing around talking. I sat and sat and sat and finally got tired of waiting for someone to offer me a menu or a drink. After about 10 minutes I walked out. It was a real disappoint.
I will go back again, but probably not alone. I think they are on the right track with their menu, food and even service, it just needs a little tweaking.
Stopped in spontaneously for a quick bite to eat and glad I did. Get ready for a friendly atmosphere, quick and attentive (but not rushed) service, and really good food. I had the Risotto of the Day: a very creamy, flavorful, and GENEROUSLY portioned dish. I'm a rather light eater, so I had to strap on the feedbag---Rocco is not the slightest bit stingy---and you get a lot of bang for your buck! The bar is lively and the owner was chatting with patrons the entire time I was there (which was about an hour)! Â Super easy to find location and great parking. Will be back.
Review Source:Great little bar/dining spot. The bartender was very nice and helpful. I had the shrimp sliders (aka. shrimp tacos). I thought it was a little pricey for bar food, but was well executed. The side salad (in place of fries) had a kick butt mustard balsamic dressing. I hope to stop by for a bite one more time before heading home.
Review Source:Kudos to Rocco! Â After reading several five star reviews on Yelp my husband and I wanted to see if all the hype was truly accurate. Â Was it ever! Â We arrived around 5pm for an early Saturday night dinner and the bar was half full and there were 2 Â tables of diners. Â The inside is warm an inviting with high tables and banquette seating. Â There are flat screen tv's over the bar and in one corner. Â Not a large space but cozy and it didn't get too loud. Â We were quickly greeted by our waitress, Shantei, who brought menus and took our drink order. Â There were 6 or so beers on tap; nothing fancy but a Sam Seasonal will typically suffice. Â The drink menu looked appealing as did the wines. Â There were several dinner specials but we stuck to the menu; meatball sliders and pasta with vodka sauce and grilled chicken. Â My husband said the meatballs were fantastic and the homemade fries that came with were to die for. Â The vodka sauce was exceptional. Â The dish was cooked to order and the sauce and chicken hot. Â While enjoying our meal the bar filled up as did all of the tables and by 6pm two parties were waiting for seats. Â Shantei had come over several times to get us additional drinks and check on us, all while waiting on each of the other 6 tables! Â She was superb! Â For dessert we tried the Caramel Apple Gelato which was delicious. Â As we were getting ready to leave the Host who was starting the evening shift came over to ask how everything was, which was impressive while the place was packed. Â All in all a great evening and we will definitely be back!
Review Source:Had a Great dinner Thursday night with some friends! Â What a great surprise for a strip mall - you walk in and the place is cozy yet comfortable. Â This is the type of pub great for watching games with awesome food that we have always hoped for in Providence, but have never found. Â
Our waitress greeted us and took our drink order (dirty martinis - very good pour) and told us about the specials and the best items on the menu. Â For appetizers we had the calamari lightly fried with a great dipping sauce and the pommes souffle - decadent with Gorgonzola and white truffle dip!
After some drinks and the great appetizers - we decided to try a bunch of food family style - WOW! Â We ordered the meatball sliders and the Bolognese that the waitress recommended. Â The owner Rocco was cooking so we told the waitress to have him pick the third item for us - he picked the Arabiatta flatbread.
Meatball Sliders - 3 big meatball sliders with french fires! Â Flavorful homemade meatballs with oozing ricotta cheese!
Bolognese - Bucatini Pasta? Â Really in a pub - This dish alone is worth the trip to Rocco's! Â This would be twice the price for a smaller portion in Providence or Boston. Â
Arabiatta Flatbread - if you like a spicy pizza - this is it. Â Have Rocco kick it up if you like spicy. Â Great pick by the Chef!
Next time we will save room for dessert - if the first 2 courses were any indication - I'm sure dessert will be just as good!
If you are looking for a treat - skip the city and go to Rocco's! Â Get in before everyone else finds out about this special place - there will be a line out the door on weekends when the secret gets out!
Not sure what the one of these post is talking about. Fire code violations, that is a new one for yelp I think?
Went in for drinks, Staff was super friendly. I met the owner nice guy sat and talked with us for a while. They even all thanked us for coming in when we left, on a busy Friday night.
Large drink selection for a small place.
Atmosphere is hip but not over the top. A place you could bring your parents for dinner, and grab a drink with you friends. Good balance.
I plan on going in and trying the food, it all looked good.
Don't let the word "pub" fool you - we're talking 5 star food in a non-frilly atmosphere.
This is the perfect place to go when you want the Italian taste of upscale Federal Hill, but don't want to get dressed to the nines to enjoy it.
Their anitpastp platter is authentic and delicious - you'll feel like you're in Old World Italy in no time! Their cheeseburger sliders were delicious. Mmm. Â I can't wait to go back and try their Risotto of the Day.
Drinks are reasonably priced. Martini list looks yummy!
