Went back here expecting a complete rerun of last time. This did not happen.
It was the same situation, an early Sunday morning, nobody in the place. We both ordered burgers. We waited almost AN HOUR for our food. I read through the Providence Phoenix like six times waiting. The cook didnt have a problem mentioning their write up for best bar food or some crap like that but he certainly had a problem making my damn cheeseburger!
I wasnt even that pissed but I wasnt having any alcohol and 50 minutes for two burgers in an empty bar is unexcusable. Seriously, how do you take fifty minutes to cook a couple friggin burgers?
Anyways, the burgers finally arrived and they were nothing like last time. My burger was in the shape of a meatball ( I really hate places that do that) and the dry/staleish bun was about twice the size of it. It had some bleu cheese and onions or something which were fine. Then i realized why it took fifty minutes to make my burger. He had actually left the burger on the grill for fifty damn minutes! Dry to the point of crumbly, small and it was just bad. I angrily ripped off all the edges of the bun since it was so much bigger than the burger and ate my dried out meatball in about four bites.
So i'm not sure what I think of this place. First time was awesome, second time was awesomely bad. I guess I'll stick with the boneless wings if I ever go back and the only way I'm doing that is if I will be consuming alcohol as well as food. I will need a whiskey coke to handle sitting that long for anything.
Interesting.
I ventured into Balls Sports Bar and Grill last week with a large group of coworkers. Â Some of them wanted to karaoke and I believe this place was suggested by a local waitress at a nearby restaurant. Â The place is exactly what its name says it is...a sports bar.
It is a little divey with quite a bit to do for the intoxicated. Â I could see this place being fun to hang in if I was a local. Â They have a decent sized bar, tvs, pool tables, and karaoke with a stage. Â
I didn't stay long...only through 1 drink, but can say that I had tons of fun. Â Also, the drinks are cheap...a glass of wine and a captain and diet cost $10.00!!! Â Awesomeness!!! Â My captain and diet back home in Chicago costs $10-$15 just by itself!!! Â
There were some concerns brought up regarding some of the looks a couple of the "locals" were giving us, however, I didn't really notice much. Â Some of us (not me, of course!) were quite intoxicated and I guess some comments were actually made about a few of our group that were a little uncalled for, assuming, and closed minded. Â Whatever, the world is full of these people, but this is ultimately why we started to leave.
Overall, I would probably suggest this place to someone in the area looking for some odd and divey fun!!!
