The pizza is well worth the wait! We have been here twice to this location, once durring the day and once at night. Both times the service sucked and it took a long time to get drinks and food. Durring the night service we did get comp shots for the long wait. I would go back because of the food is delicious but might try the take out option:)

Whoever writes a 5 star review for this place must be paid to do so. After seeing this place right off c-470 for quite sometime now, we decided to give it a try. We ordered the 16 inch "flirtin with disaster" added jalapenos and pineapple, 2 cokes. Though the service was ok (our 19 year old server was nice), the pizza was total crap! Not horrible but not good. Nothing special about it and $40 later, we left totally dissatisfied and will never go back. Overpriced, mediocre pizza. The restaurant chain spent more time and effort in their gimmicky decor than actually making good tasting food. If you are used to eating overpriced crap food, this is the place for you.

I cannot stay away from this place, and it is for two menu items only. When I have tried to stray from these items, I have always been disappointed. And I am sorry to say the pizza isn't good at all. However, the brown sugar mozz bread is to die for (get the strawberry sauce on the side). I never would have thought to put brown sugar on cheesy garlic bread, but it's fantastic. And the chicken wings are my favorite anywhere! The BBQ ones are deelish (great sauce), but I usually get the Hot wings. Tangy, not too hot, and no bleu cheese for me. I always get their homemade ranch dressing, and lots of it. It is outstanding!! I could eat these things at least once a week if my waistline would let me. Which it won't. :) Please also note that I rarely eat meat at all, but when I do, it's because I crave these wings! Also, the service here is great. Always friendly.

I ordered the Crazy Little Thing on gluten free crust. On the menu, it said: A classic tomato sauce pizza piled high with white onions, green pepper, sliced mushrooms, crushed garlic and black olives. You'll love it!

Well, I subbed out the mushrooms for pepperoni.

Not only did I not love it, I don't understand where on my pizza did they think the onions, green pepper, and black olives were piles high? Not to mention, the pizza was devoid of any garlic. There were 10 small pieces of green pepper, about the same onions, 6 pieces of pepperoni, and 7 olives. Ridiculous.

The only plus? The gluten free crust was passable.

We've been here a handful of times and always found the wood fired pizza to be consistently good (and the themed pizzas are named after rock songs or phrases from songs). The service can be spotty - sometimes good, sometimes slow.

We have found the bar service to be slightly better while there - had to remind the bartender about my single beer order after 10 minutes of an empty glass.. The beer is good and if you're a big fun cocktail drinker then you may enjoy the beach bucket drinks.

I would say if you make the service consistent then the rating would be better.

My sister hyped this place up to be pretty awesome, so you can imagine my anticipation the first time going here.

Honestly it was pretty mediocre and average. The pizza didn't taste like anything special and was very greasy. On top of that, the drink refills were very slow, and this was when the restaurant was not busy whatsoever.

I have no desire to go back here. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either.

Great atmosphere! This place doesn't remind me of any Hard Rock Cafe I've ever been to - the decor is seems original to me, and definitely more "hard rock". And the music in the background beat any place else in the area. Not a sports bar per we, but there were definitely TVs showing sports.

My pizza was great, my wife's pasta was great (it's not easy to please her with pasta) and my daughter ( the picky eater) loved the calzone. I'm not big on microbrew, but I ordered the sampler and found it all reasonably good. The beer is why I rated 4 rather than 5.

This is my new favorite place to eat in the area.

The decor is so cool that it looks like one of those commercialized places that look cool but the food isn't so great.

However, the food here is excellent. Pizza, wings, sandwiches. I love their drink too! Always good service and always great food!!

Been there about 8 times.

Always sit at the bar so I can people watch and enjoy the delicous eats!

In a rather large party, about half the people did not like their food. Nothing remarkable about the place other than the rock atmosphere.

Food is slightly above average but service is pretty consistently bad. Try not to get seated in the bar for lunch or they'll forget you're there. Salads could be fresher, and pizzas are above average but a bit tough.

After my first post I was excited to go back to the location with my wife. I can't say enough, if you haven't been to The Rock yet, GO! I send business clients there as much as possible.

Food was amazing as usual. Decided to try a "white sauce" pizza, which I was unsure about until the first bite and it was great. We also tried the boneless chicken fingers and they were unbelievable. Large serving and mouthwatering. Pizza was cooked perfectly and delivered in an appropriate time.

The drink menu is pretty insane. My wife likes their bucket, which is rum and juice, too sweet for me, but she gets them everytime. I like their Black, IPA, Red, and Blonde, haven't tried the rest of them. They also make an awesome Margarita.

For a Friday night, we were taken care of very well. Jordan recognized us right away and was happy to see we came back, which made us happier we did. She answered every question we had without being annoyed or giving any attitude, very nice. We even got visited by the manager which was a different, nice surprise.

Overall, the food is delicious, the staff is amazing, the music is perfect for my wife and my age group, atmosphere is fun and different. Haven't been disappointed by them yet. Go in and enjoy a different kind of place in Highlands Ranch.

Mediocre at best. Food wasn't anything to write home about. Pizza was very greasy and not the best I've had.

The beer on the other hand was great! Good brew selection to chose from and the staff was very friendly. I like the inside of the place as well. Kinda funky.

Overall prbly won't go back, but served the need for beer and pizza on a Friday night.

I've been to another Rock location, we stopped in here for dinner before a movie. As far as chain pizza joints go, they have pretty good consistent food with decent creations on the menu. They have their own beers, and it runs the standard gambit of popular ales.

Our server last night was Terrance, and he did a great job. I was very impressed with his friendly attitude and attention.

The place is very gaudy inside, frankly it's somewhat uncomfortable for me to sit here too long. But the food and beer is good and it's a convenient spot before the movie theater.

Not sure why people are so fierce in the bad reviews...pizza was decent and so was the porter version of their microbrew. Nothing really creative here, but a solid venue, decent beer and good pizza. I enjoyed it, so did my 10 year old son.

Went there at 5:30ish on the day after Black Friday. :) Immediately got a table.

Like others have said, the inside decor is interesting. It would be real cool if they could somehow incorporate some 'newer' rock in their 'theme' - ya know, 90s and 00s bands - perhaps in the bar area? - but it is what it is.

Service: No complaints. Attentive. Initial serving of a slice is a nice touch.

Food: Prices are somewhat expensive. $3.50 for a small side salad. $23 for a 16" loaded Pizza? Yikes! Anyway, the pizza is OK. I'm from Jersey and I've been to pizzarias in Italy, so my standards are high. The Pizza is better than any delivery place but not up to say a Protos. Kind of weird to place the pizza on a BIG tray as it's impossible for someone at the far side of a booth to actually get a slice.

Micro-brew Beer: Great job! Some nice bite to the Jump'n Jack Black (yeah there's the classic rock meme coming in). Lots of 'micro breweries' have bland dark beers - this one is not. $4.50/pint.

Other: Obviously a noisy place. Generally families, which is what you'd expect from a post-matinee, pre-evening movie crowd. Especially in Highlands Ranch.

3.5 star review all in all. Food price is a bit high for the quality. It's a decent place and we'll likely come back, but not urgently.

The Founders pizza was so good that my husband kept telling me how good it tasted throughout the meal. That's something he rarely does. Combine the Suicide Blond beer with the pizza and you've got a great combination.

I was craving some pizza and thought this place would cure that urge, however, it left me disappointed. I thought the pizza was a bit bland, and I couldn't really taste any seasoning in the sauce. It seemed overpriced for the mediocre pizza we received. The drinks were pretty good, though, and they have some odd ones which is interesting to me.
well, I'm still on a search for good wood stove pizza

Instead of suffering in the 103 degree heat last weekend, my boyfriend and I decided that lunch & a movie would be the perfect way to beat the heat! Being a beer & pizza lover, along with being super close to the movie theater, we decided to see & taste what The Rock had to offer. Here goes:

FOOD: Very good! We both ordered individualized pizzas [they offer a lunch special 7 days a week, featuring all you can eat salad OR an additional $2 off your pizza, we opted for the latter] with me ordering the "crazy little thing" [aka a supreme pizza!] while he ordered the "can't stop rockin" [pepperoni, pineapple & cheese!] and both were amazing. The supreme had a little less cheese and lacked a few spices but was pretty darn good.

BEER: I always like places that make their own beer or offer unique micro brews and The Rock features their very own beer! We ordered the sampler and came to like their black lager and IPA the best! mmmmm!

SERVICE: Meh. I've had better. We sat in the bar area, hoping to catch some game highlights and there was ONE person guarding the bar & taking orders while another random food runner delivered food. Although our server/bartender was nice & friendly, we didn't see her much. Only to order and pay. Weird.

PRICES: Awesomely reasonable for this area of town. I always associate Highlands Ranch with being an upscale suburban community [right?!] and was surprised to find such low prices. Food + beer = under $20. WOW!

ATMOSPHERE: As soon as we walked in we were greeted with skulls, rot iron fences, grunge band set ups and lots of flames. Very interesting vibe, black toilets, random grafitti cover the walls and fun music blasts from the speakers. It's like nothing else....well maybe Halloween! ha ;)

Overall, I dig this place, and can def see myself returning for a bite and a brew!

I've eaten at "The Rock" twice now and I cannot wait to go back. The first visit, my wife and I didn't realize they specialized in pizza until we parked. Neither of us were in the mood for pizza, but were pleased to find several other options on the menu. My wife had good things to say about her BLT and I ordered the Chicken Basket expecting some average chicken tenders and fries. Turns out this was like a gift from the deep-fried gods! Instead of tenders, the chicken is thin sliced breast meat with a beer batter. It's awesome! It's also a ton of food. 4 large pieces of chicken in a basket of fries was almost more than I could eat (and that's saying a lot.) The ranch and honey mustard dipping sauces are above average as well. I'm constantly looking for an excuse to make the drive from Parker for some more chicken. Someday I might even try the pizza.

I think the other reviewers have covered the décor, but needless to say it is very well done.

Went here for beers, cannot attest to the pizza. Alas, the guy I was with said he had a calzone there and it was good. I will update my review after eating.

But a good selection of beer and a good atmosphere.

Came here on a Saturday for a late lunch after spending the morning at Home Depot buying garden plants to replace those destroyed in a hail storm last week.

As other reviewers have stated, the new ownership spared no expense turning this old Boston's restaurant into a retro 80's establishment - the front chandelier is made with old Fender Stratocasters, there's a skeleton playing guitar that bears a resemblance to a skinny Jerry Garcia, the backs of the booths are covered with the names of hundreds of classic rock songs, and there's a beat-up old pickup truck above the bar with a Bad Company logo on the side. These and other mementos of the long-gone days of real rock and roll brought a smile to my face, as did the piped in music, from the Beatles to the Doobies to Skynyrd.

We ordered a chicken wing appetizer to share - great and spicy hot wings, not dripping with sauce and a bit crunchy. Really tasty. My wife got the Red Sangria and said it was super, I got a house margarita and was very pleased and a bit surprised by the addition of Rose's Lime Juice - a nice quenching treat on a very hot day.

My wife and son got a specialty pizza with prosciutto, provolone, pepperoni, onions and peppers and said it was very good. I got the Rock Grinder combo - ham, pepperoni, a ton of pepperjack cheese, thinly-sliced red onions and green and red bell peppers, drizzled in a homemade sauce - an excellent sandwich! The fries were okay, but not particularly memorable.

I give this place a 5 for decor and atmosphere - everywhere you look there's something to catch your eye, like a giant mural of the cover of Pink Floyd's Animals album with Jimi Hendrix hidden in the corner, the occasional gargoyle glaring down from above, and cool brickwork that has been made to look as if it is about to collapse.

I give the food a 3 - very tasty, everyday workingman's lunch, perhaps a bit above average pizza, but nothing truly awesome or memorable.

We'll head back here again soon and give it another try - definitely worth a second visit.

We were in the area to see a movie and stopped in after for a bite. I had read some of my fellow Yelpers reviews and thought it might be our kind of place.

The decor is awesome! They really spared no expense to realize the 80's rock theme on display here. The music was great, the dark "Hellfire" atmosphere really reminded me of the glorious days of my youth. Right down to the leather and studded booths and rock inspired branding. However, thats where the favorable portion of this review ends.

The menu is very limited when it comes to specialty pizza's. I'm not saying that they didn't have many choices for specialty pies, they just didn't have combinations that many of us pizza traditionalists want to see. For instance, we just wanted your basic house combination pie with some veggies and some meat. We had to order the veggie pizza and add the meat toppings. At $2.25 a topping, that can add up pretty fast! We also ordered some of their homemade ripple chips. These turned out to be the highlight of the meal. I had one of their home brews as well. A honey wheat that wasn't bad at all.

When the pizza came (16") it was placed on a tray at the end of the table. Not on the table, just off the end. This made it real hard to get your next slice as you had to slide over to the end of the booth with your plate to dish it up. Not sure why they do this, the tray is about 5 times the size of the pizza, and the tables (booth in this case) are large enough to accomadate the traditional pizza rack. The pizza was very bland to say the least. Very little sauce, and what sauce there was was bascally just crushed tomatos from a can. The toppings were sparce and the cheese was not what you would expect from fresh mozzarella, it melted more like a white version of velveeta or something, not very appetizing to say the least. The crust was just ordinary as well.

If the folks at The Rock would have spent as much money developing their recipies as they did on the decor, this place might be what I think they were aiming for. Unfortunately, they really missed the mark with the food. Its a shame too, I really wanted to like this place.

Very busy on Friday nights, we waiting about 20 minutes. The vibe was cool. They give the kids playdough (pizza dough) and they love it. The kids menu has fries shaped like smiley faces. We ordered the Crazy Train and they forgot our peppers but the waitress brought some on the side. The manager also stopped by to see if we were ok with it. The pizza was pretty good, I like mine a bit more crispy. They have their own beer.

We decided to try The Rock after reading a story about it in the local paper. The decor reminded me of being in a theme restaurant someplace in Vegas. We grabbed a spot in the bar since there was about an hour wait for dinner. We tried the sampler of beer, and really weren't impressed with any of the six samples. We ordered Bang a Gong pizza since supposedly the restaurant is known for their pie. When the waitress brought the pizza the crust was so tough she couldn't cut through it, and my husband had to help her get through it to serve us a piece. The pizza itself, besides the tough crust, was utterly flavorless. Raw onions and green peppers were the only discernible taste coming through. The place was incredibly busy so they've definitely created a buzz. But we were completely stumped as to what all the hype is about. Neither of us see any reason to put up with the goth decor and crowds for such mediocre fare.

This chain restaurant looks like a Disney theme park. I get the "rock" and roll theme, but the crumbling rocks are confusing, Mayan? Rome? Greece? Atlantis? I don't recall buildings crumbling in the 80's. The loud music sound track is 80's Rock n Roll so items on the menu have music inspired item names, kitch, yet somewhat endearing.

The menu is a usual line up of apps, salads, pizza and a few burgers. Pizzas are the focus. There are nice combinations of ingredients available with red, white or no sauce. We didn't like the crust of our pizza. We enjoy thin, thick or pan crust each on its own merits, but this was midway between thick and thin crust, slightly soggy and a bit undercooked. They have their own microbrews which were actually better than the pizza on this night. The Ceaser salad was served with lemons which is a plus as a squirt of lemon always elevates this salad to an entirely new level.

We arrived at 8:45 on a weeknight and were thrilled they were still seating (it is the burbs afterall) ! They appear to be working out the new opening kinks. Tons of tables open, yet much conversation regarding where to seat us. Told one gentleman would be our waiter yet another woman was. Not a problem though for the handful of tables that were seated it made no sense that she didn't bring us silverware (another waiter did cheerfully when we asked), she forgot our to-go box for over 20 minutes (said we should have flagged her which we would have if there had been any sight of her) and took over 20 minutes to pick up our check once she dropped it off.

Note that the happy hour they advertise is only available in the bar unless you join their frequent visitor program (free) which will entitle you to that benefit in the regular dining room.

It is early yet so I will give them a break on service issues. Soggy pizza crust at a mainly pizza restaurant is more concerning. That said, it does have a peppy atmosphere which is a much needed addition in this area and I appreciate them being open after 9 on a week night. They were out of membership cards for the sign ups for their frequent diner program, but the friendly manager was called by our waitress and he graciously agreed to honor the dining room happy hour while they waited for more cards to arrive

Jury is still out, I'll give them a chance to settle in then re-evaluate. Either way it will be a nice option if you need dinner after your movie at the AMC 24.

The Rock is a wood fired pizza joint with a fabulous bar in the old Boston's location in Highlands Ranch. Very impressed by the spare no expense makeover and conversion to an 80's rock & roll themed establishment. The Rock is evidently a franchised chain out of Tacoma, WA and even though there is another location in Denver it is so unique it feels like a one of a kind spot.

Thought the pizza was great! Got the 9" Meaty Beaty Big & Bouncy $11.99 and my wife, the celiac, got the 9" Stairway to Heaven with gluten free crust $10.79, add a $3 up charge for gluten free crust. Both gourmet pies were outstanding and I even liked the gluten free crust. They serve lots of fun creative adult beverages and make their own micro brews at $4.50 for a pint. Check out the complete menu at http://therockwfp.com/.

The Rock is righteously done & is going to do very well in Highlands Ranch! Last Saturday evening there was a one hour and 20 minute wait for a table in the restaurant. Luckily, we found an open table in the bar after about 20 minutes. They also have a nice patio area. Because of the newness and crowd, as you can imagine, service was a little slow.

Very interesting place to say the least! It's by the office and good for a cocktail after work which is a bonus. I like the atmosphere and decor; the waitstaff I think needs a little bit more training, as ours took quite some time to deliver drinks, but food didn't take too long which was a bonus. Our waitress would disappear for long periods of time but was nice enough. I did have the "Stairway to Heaven" pizza which was a shite pizza with arugula, parmesan, olive oil and tomato; which I have to say was pretty bland. But becasue I was starving it did taste good. I'd try something different on the menu the next time we go. It does feel quite out of place for Highlands Ranch but it has a cool vibe and nice outdoor area.

I gave this restaurant a one star because a there is not a negative star available! Decor is AMAZING! Reminds me of a cross between House of Blues and Hard Rock Cafe! Unfortunately, the amazement ends there! The interior reminds me of a traveling haunted house. Lots of dark colors, and shady corners. The urinal in the men's room is plastered with a demonic face, that while interesting, is a bit odd. But hey we don't eat from the urinal, so let's to get to the reasons that e go to restaurants..the food

Disgusting is a polite understatement!!!!!!!! We ordered wings and a round of beers from their HIGHLY LIMITED beer selection. Using my dollars to clean up the vomit that was in their restroom stall would have been a better use of the money! The wings were wretched! Wet, damp, slimy wings, bathed in a sauce that tasted like it came straight from a bottle. No crunch to the wings, very little meat, just slimy, sticky nasty wings served to our table in a scalding hot cast iron skillet that fried your fingers more than it fried the wings.. The beer is a comical joke! 7 of their beers are from their own brewery. They only have three handles of local brews. REALLY????? You are a new player in the Colorado beer market and you force your own brews on us? Freakingly humorous!, All three of the beers that we tasted we made from the same recipe. Granted at one ( their IPA ) had some hops added, it was at best a 45 IBU.. And nothing close to an IPA?

The pizza was without flavor, soft, and burned all at the same time. Tasted more like Stouffers than hand tossed dough. I can not even begin to describe the level of their food. Save yourself some money and some disappointment and cook at home. Go buy a six pack of your favorite beer, and eat some cat food! You will be better off and you won't have spent as much money!,,

This dump will watch the publics eye fora few months and then they will go the way of the last company that held that location.. They wil close! Do yourself a favor and go to CB Potts.. Beer is fresh, food is better, and they are a better company all around

This place is way too cool for Highlands Ranch. I love it!

The Rock just opened in the old Boston's location. It is fabulous! It is a Rock-Themed bar with an awesome patio, really detailed decor and even an old GMC truck on top of the bar. Classic rock is played throughout the restaurant and bar. Band names like Styx & Journey are spray painted on the walls. Even the fabric of the booths has song titles like Wayward Son. Love it.

The layout here is awesome! The place is split into two halves, the restaurant area and the bar area. You can get food in the bar area, and you can completely avoid the screaming children of the restaurant area, yay! I'm sure if the weather stays nice, we will be spending weekend afternoons on the patio. This place has already been discovered by the bikers, so it can get a little packed out there, just a heads up.

Happy hour here is a must. They have the most fun cocktail list I have ever seen. You can get jello shots in syringes, booze in buckets and even a "lava lamp" drink with floating chunks of jello and a light up glass (that you get to keep). Fantastic!

The food is pretty fun as well. It is really, really hard to make up your mind because everything sounds so good. The brown sugar bread, garlic bread, mini-calzones and mac'n'cheese are all pretty awesome.

Love this place. Will most definitely be back!
