An out-of-town friend was visiting and requested something local, so we decided to try The Rock. Â I'll keep it simple:
Pros:
- Skillet shrooms are tasty
- pizza dough
Cons:
- service: we were seated and waited 15 minutes until a waitress holding dirty plates asked us if we had ordered. Â After we said no, she handed off the plates to another waitress and said, "I will be your server." WTF?! Â We waited quite some time for our food despite our server's claims that it would be ready any minute
Overall the food is decent, albeit pricey. Â The unacceptable service ensures I won't be back any time soon.
wow this place was dead for being dinner time. Â I think Brick House Tavern and Salt Grass (Ewww on salt grass) were the big hits on this restaurant strip. Â I went in one evening only after not being able to get into Brick-house...i was glad to come into The Rock. Â The service was quick and very friendly and the pizza was fantastic. Â The beer was cold and lots to choose from! Â Will definitely go back and would recommend this place to anyone! Â The only reason they didn't get five stars is because the side salad was a little to...well...normal.
Review Source:Great decor, great music. High expectations for a great meal, terribly disappointed! For a "wood fired pizza restaurant " the pizza was terrible! Had a Hawaiian pizza no flavor, hardly any Canadian bacon and a few pieces of pineapple. Overpriced for all 4 entres  ( over $100.00). The waitress couldn't even recommend an entre when asked. Will not go back or recommend your restaurant to anyone.
Review Source:Third visit. Second visit was excellent. This visit (3rd) had fish taco's, was on the third taco and got a 1x1/2 centimeter piece of plastic. Thought it was glass at first, had a mouthful of it and had to spit it all out (in front of everybody). Â Manager came over and actually took it out of my hand ( I tried to explain it was in my mouth) , Comped our whole meal. very nice. In future I would recommend the manager put gloves on ( as an elementary teacher) anytime he deals with anyone's bodily fluids.
Review Source:Hey! Â Wanna pay double price for a crappy pizza? Â THEN COME ON IN!!!
What does Chuck E Cheese and the Rock have in common? Â Their hopes that their tacky atmosphere will obscure their crappy pizza. Â This formula is flawed. Â No one goes to Chuck E Cheese for the pizza. Â You just tolerate it for your kids. Â But adults actually look for quality in a pizza joint aimed at adults.
The gimmick here is so tacky...it's just rock'n'roll stereotyped: Â Skulls, motorcycles, crappy lighting. Â Who pays for the theme crap overload? Â You Do! Â By paying $20+ for a lousy pizza. Â If your entire schtick is PIZZA, shouldn't it be great pizza? Â It's like chuck e cheese. Â Lame crust, no herbs, flavorless. Â The only thing creative is the names of the pizzas. Â
AVOID!
Thought we'd try somewhere new & we were not disappointed.. The decor was out of this world & the Classic Rock music bought back lot's of memories & kept us there. Started with the 8 mini-beer sampler & wings (1/2 Sweet red chili &1/2 Sweet but Spicy) both were tasty. Then split the Spinach Salad - I highly recommend the Tomato Bacon Dressing. Lastly, Jody our (Bartender) who was "AWESOME" recommended the "BAD TO THE BONE PIZZA". Â It was hand tossed, not over-cooked,
White sauce w/ mozzarella and romano cheeses, pepperoni, peppered bacon, ham and red onions topped with a peppercorn ranch dressing. Â
Next time we will try the Happy Hour: Mon - Fri 3-6PM and 9PM-Close ...
Too cold for the patio, but they have heaters, music  & t.v.'s.. For a summer day...
We relocated to CO 3 yrs ago and have been searching for a decent pizza ever since. Â Tried many and were always disappointed - none of them compared to pizza places back home, until tonight. Â My husband ordered his own meaty pizza and really liked it. Â I had the Yellow Brick Road pizza and loved it. Â My son had a pepperoni pizza and ate every bite of it. Â The crust was delicious. Â We also tried the brown sugar mozzarella bread for something new - and thought it was great. Â If there was one negative thing to be said, it was that our beers weren't very cold. Â But we were told something broke and they were trying to keep the beer cold with the refrigerators. Â Things happen, so we totally understood - and we trust their beer is normally cold. Â Service was very good, and we loved the atmosphere. Â If I'm being honest, we actually headed to Parker to eat at Joes Crab Shack, only to be disappointed that they apparently closed. Â We saw The Rock next door, and am guessing it's fairly new as we'd never seen it there before - and decided to give it a try. Â We were not disappointed!!!! Â We will definitely go back. Â And after 3 very long years of terrible pizzas - we finally found our "go to" pizza place.
Review Source:Well, my first time eating at The Rock was pretty mediocre.
The pizza was filling, but tasteless. So, I couldn't quite understand what the big hype was.
Our second visit however, was very enjoyable. Our server was attentive but not hovering like our last server.
Our food was what really blew me out of the water though! I designed my own calzone, with meatballs, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese. I was expecting a pretty standard calzone, but what came out has become one of my favorite meals! The cheese was so creamy, and not just a filler to hide the lack of meat. It had flavor that mixed so well with the dough and meats. The most surprising thing though was the cream cheese flavor, I never had a calzone with cream cheese in it before, but I will never go back! It was the best taste sensation EVER!
My only problem was with the weird lights overhead. One of them was shining right on my plate, giving it a very strange and almost headache inducing orange glow. Nothing that couldn't have been fixed if I'd made a big deal out of it though.
Overall, I liked the music and the service, and loved their food! I will definitely be coming back to this great new addition to restaurant row!
This is our favorite pizza place nowadays - the crust is great! Â Hubby *loves* the dry rub wings - a tiny bit spicy and very tasty (a bit salty for me though)... Â Happy hour specials are really good too. Â I read another review saying they were trying to be like Hard Rock Cafe, but I actually prefer this food over Hard Rock's food.
Review Source:Ordered an appetizer and then 5 minutes later ordered 2 side salads and a pizza. Salads came first, followed shortly by our appetizer. Another 5 minutes after that our pizza came out when we were a halfway through our salads and had not even started eating our appetizer which we should have been eating first anyway. Arg!
Pizza was supposed to have carmelized onions. They were still a little crunchy and no carmelization at all. Boo. Crust was soft which I thought strange for wood fired pizza. I thought it would be crusty and chewy (which I like). Beer was just ok. Not a lot of flavor. Salads were average. Ordered onion ring for the appetizer and they had a sweet dipping sauce which I didn't really care for because the onions rings are naturally sweet. I spicy sauce would have complemented better.
Overall, I've been to many pizza places where the food is way better and I was disappointed in the service as far as the timing of when our food came out.
This will be a double review.
First 3 stars for the lunch menu...okay, but nothing out of the ordinary.
But...
5 stars for Happy Hour...we had a such a great time with specials and the food and the drink and the...Yikes! I guess my friend can't drive home now.
A super fun place that Parker so needs.
A group of about 20 called ahead to advise we were coming for lunch. They had the tables reserved in the bar where 2 of the tables were the higher tables and chairs. We are all seniors and didn't find it comfortable to "climb" up into the chairs especially when the restaurant only had a few customers. I ordered the vegetable sandwich wrap and when I picked it up there was a long hair hanging out. When the server finally came back to the table, I asked her to replace it and she took my dish away and never apologized or sent a manager by. Service was slow out of the kitchen, the server was not friendly or attentive. I eat out often and will not be back here.
Review Source:The Rock has become one of our new favorite spots in Parker. The menu has a great deal of variety, and they feature a range of microbrews to enjoy. They're emphasis is obviously on their pizza's, but we have yet to sample any of them. They do however have some of the best wings I've had since moving to Colorado. Try the dry rub Chipotle Wings...they're fantastic.
Review Source:What a great remodel!
This is where the old Bostons was and the remodel is great. They have taken the patio area and given it even more shelter and an very cool huge fireplace and heaters so the area can be used year-round to enjoy the views of the rockies.
The food is awesome! I attended a grand opening and got to sample the pizza, nachos, potato skins and wings. All great, and they have great fun drinks served in Buckets.. perfect for a TGIF night or ladies night out.
I've been to the Rock twice now for lunch and the first time it was probably a 3 star and today's was a 2 star. So the 2 star wins out.
They're trying really hard to be a ripoff of the Hard Rock with their decor. It looks nice inside and there's a cool motorcycle hanging from the ceiling. Lots of faux, crumbly bricks everywhere. And we were sitting in what I could only call the pirate section this time.
Both times I've been I've gotten a coke. They make their own beer so I want to try it, just not for lunch. The coke is $2.49 and both times the syrup/water ratio is horribly off. It tastes more like water than anything else. Once is a mistake, twice is they're trying to skimp and save money.
The first time I had the 9" personal pizza the "Classic Rock" which according to their menu is "Generous portions of pepperoni" and it had one big slice of pepperoni on each slice. The flavor of the pizza was really good, tho, and I'll probably come back just to try it again.
The second time I came I had the "Rock Burger". I ordered it well done with bacon and it was just plain awful. It was very greasy. Like so greasy the bun was falling apart. My wife got a burger too and we both noticed that the meat had a very weird flavor. It honestly tasted  like freezer burn to me. Neither one of us could finish our burgers. Not that the waitress asked us at all.
Speaking of, absolutely slow, horrible service. She even messed up the bill and tried to charge us $2.49 for my wife's water.
We'll probably come back again and try the pizza and beer some time, but I'll never try the burger again.
I think I am going to have to institute a 2 visit rule before I Yelp. Â My first visit to The Rock was great so I gave it a 4 star review. Â Today I visited again (because I loved it so much the first time) and had a horrible meal with bad service to boot!
Like I said before, the Rock decor is kind of rock 'n roll Vegas. It is sort of a watered down Hard Rock. Â I like the decor and the music so this is a plus for me. Â Not to mention, there are lots of booths (my preference) and the tables are spaced out nicely so that you don't feel packed in while eating. Â
The food is pizza, burgers and pasta. Â The first time we came I tried the California Dreamin (A white sauce pizza topped with chicken, fresh pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts, garlic and mozzarella) and really loved it. Â It was light and flavorful. Â They do wood fire their pizza's so you get a bit of char on it (although they didn't over do it).
Today, I had a burger called the Burger Man (Chipotle seasoned 1/2 lb. of flame broiled angus beef with chipotle mayo, jack cheese, peppered bacon, tomato and crispy fried onions). Â It had to be the worst burger I have had in a long time. Â The toppings has zippo flavor and the one thing that did have flavor was the meat, but for the wrong reasons - it was greasy AND tasked almost freezer burned. Â At first I thought it was the chipotle seasoning that was off, but my hubby had a plain burger with nothing on it it and it had the same weird taste. Â I didn't even eat half. Â It was awful and so was my hubby's. Â The fries were good. Â So we ate those! Â
Our service here has been spotty. Â Good last time with an attentive waitress. Â Bad this time with an absent waitress who was slow on refills and even slower on the check - which was ended up being wrong (over charged and then billed for the wrong item). Â Just a bad overall experience today. Â So it isn't the slam dunk I thought it was at first. Â I would suggest you stick with the pizza if you come, the burgers are not worth it!
This was my first visit today to this chain. I found out that they have only been open about a month. I placed an order to go over the phone. The gal on the phone was very courteous. Â She took my name and number and repeated my order back to me. Â
I ordered the medium 12" pizza. Â From reading the reviews on Yelp, I knew that I could order 1/2&1/2 since everything sounded so good. Â I ordered 1/2 Crazy Train (Pepperoni, hot Italian sausage, peppered bacon, caramelized onions, garlic, oregano, and hot cherry peppers) and 1/2 Founders Pie (Sweet Italian sausage, pepperoni, tomato sauce, mozzarella, and ricotta cheese). Â
The 12" pizza was cut into 6 slices. Â The middle of the crust was a little soggy and could have been baked another minute or two. Â The bones were soft and chewy and I even ate the bones. Â The Crazy Train only had a few small pieces of hot cherry peppers but lots of caramelized onions. Â The Founders Pie was my favorite. Â The toppings were not brought out far enough to the edge, especially the ricotta (see posted photo). Â The ricotta was soft and creamy like whipped butter. Â Yum!
The value of this little pizza for $18.49 loses one star. Â The gal charged me the price of the more expensive pizza rather than splitting the difference of the 2 different pizzas.
I would be back for their lunch specials where the small 9" pizzas ($9.99-$11.99) are $2 off. Â The only problem would be choosing one flavor.
If you don't like the food here, I would be surprised. Â If you don't like the decor, you obviously walked in wearing blinders. Â The theme here is "rock and roll" and it is definitely over the top. Â I personally thought it was an amazing sensory overload. The furnishings, the music, the experience . . . very rocking. Â The signature pizzas on the menu are mostly named after famous rock and roll songs. Â Such as, "Bad to the Bone, Bang A Gong, Bat Outta Hell, California Dreamin, Can't Stop Rockin'". Â If you order a medium or large, you can go 1/2 & 1/2 on your selection. Â
On my visit, I went 1/2" Crazy Train", (Pepperoni, hot Italian sausage, peppered bacon, caramelized onions, garlic, oregano and hot cherry peppers) and 1/2 "Stairway To Heaven" (garlic butter brushed dough, topped with fresh mozzarella, fresh baby arugula, diced tomatoes, prosciutto, parmesan cheese , a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.) Â I really enjoyed the Crazy Train. Â The meat was of good quality and the veggies brought solid flavor and a little heat. Â The Stairway was, in my opinion, good, but not great. Â I would put it on a par with Marco's Coal Fired, but below Via Baci or Osteria Marco's version of this pie. One small complaint. Â My pizza seemed just a tad under-cooked when it first arrived. Â They did, however, cheerfully pop it back in the oven for me. Â The crust here is very chewy, which I enjoyed. I had a beer with my pizza. Â It was not happy hour, so it cost just under $5. Â It was a good quality brew, but could have been a little colder. Â A frosty glass would have also been appreciated. Â Service here is friendly and excellent.
The menu has salads, burgers, apps, wings etc., but, seriously. Â Why come here if not for the pizza? Â The prices seemed a little higher than I might have expected, but the quality of ingredients was very good. Â Parker is lucky to have this new pizza place, and I will definitely be back.
12/7/12
Addendum Part 1: Â I went back for lunch (new specials) and tried the all you can eat soup and salad. Â The tomato bisque was mighty fine, with solid flavor. Â The clam chowder was a considerably thicker and a tad fishier than I prefer. Â The Caesar salad was outstanding. Â It was a generous serving, with tons of flavor. Â It had lots of cheese and croutons. Â It was slightly overdressed, but the dressing was pungent and delicious. Â This salad was served with a very chewy roll (made from pizza dough, I presume) that I thought was enjoyable.
Part 2: Â And we came back for happy hour on the same day . . . Beers were $3 for microbrews (tasty, but they REALLY need to figure out a way to chill the glasses or turn the thermostat down on the beer cooler . . . I need my beer very cold) I have to give our waitress credit, she did try to make it colder for me. Â Our waitress, Missy, was awesome. Â This was the same helpful, attractive, young lady who popped my pizza back in the oven for me on a previous visit. Â Along with the beers, I had a Lime-Light (Rush themed dontchaknow). Â It was a tasty lime margarita served in a child's sand pail (complete with shovel). Â It would have knocked me on my @$$, had I not already been sitting on it. Â It was very potent, and a lot of booze for around $8. Â We sampled the chipotle dry rubbed wings (a bit flabby and bland for my taste, but others seemed to like them), the rock chips (a nice spicy house made chip with ranch and honey mustard), and some mozzarella bread (kind of basic). Â For dessert, we had the warm chocolate chip cookie (dough) in a skillet with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Â It may have been the beer and tequila talking, but this was nummers to the nth degree. Â We got here at 4pm, and the bar was packed by 5:30 pm. Â The restaurant was packed as well by 6pm on a Friday.
Nice attempt - epic failure. It's a shame - I wanted to like this place. Hubby and I first went to the Highlands Ranch location, and after grave disappointment with lackluster food and some of the worst service ever, we decided to give this newly opened location a shot - hoping for a better experience. Fail. The decor is impressive, if not just a little too wannabe Hard Rock Cafe. I can appreciate the money and effort that went into making it really visually appealing and well thought out. Sadly, the praise stops there. Even though the restaurant was only about 1/3 to maybe 1/2 full and bubbling over with waitstaff, we once again experienced terrible, slow service. If I could look beyond the slow service, however, I couldn't look beyond the mediocre (at best) food. I had the personal size pizza with ricotta, carmelized onions and mushrooms. I ordered marinated mushrooms, but instead received paper thin, burned beyond recognition regular "mushrooms" (though I still think they were actually cardboard), onions that were so overly sweet they tasted like they were dipped in corn syrup, and enough oddly sweet ricotta to make a full pan of lasagna. The crust was burned and the pizza was just... unappetizing. Hubby had the "Shrimp Scampi" - this item gets quotation marks because The Rock has a warped view of what shrimp scampi is. Instead of a flavorful scampi garlic butter sauce, it was a concrete heavy cream sauce that he said tasted like a poorly executed alfredo, topped with a few tiny, clearly frozen, shrimp. He ate about half of it before throwing in the towel.
The concept of this restaurant has potential.... albeit a little over-pretentious (and hey, if you're going to have rock album covers from legends on the walls, maybe play some of their music that's actually good, instead of bands like Rush, and the oddly out of place Train that was playing). Hubby and I love the details of the architecture, Â the graphics and designs, but get a clue when it comes to food.
Overall - I wouldn't go back to this place. Save yourself the disappointment and go to Lil Ricci's, Parry's Pizza, or get the awesome pizza from Whole Foods in Highlands Ranch.
The 80s died and came back to haunt us at this place. The decor and music is the definition of why people make fun of suburbia. The food is good, but there's no way I will ever dine here again, unless I am trying to prank someone that hates themed restaurants. Take a hard rock cafe, mix in some Chili's and then acid wash te whole thing and you have The Rock. Blerg.
Review Source:Wowza, Wowza, Wowza. Â If I could adequately relay how good this place with that statement I would stop right here.
I want to shout from the rooftops about this place. Â Although I'm afraid if too many people find out about it there won't be any seats for me - which would make me a very sad panda. Â This is right next to Red Robin and is in the same building that Boston Pizza used to be. Â This is a considerable step up from Bostons or perhaps any other pizza place in Denver.
Let me start with the decor. Â As you walk up to the front entrance you get a taste of what is to come - Classic Rock is piped in and follows your ears inside. Â Stepping inside is like a timewarp and BAM! you are backstage at a rock concert. Â Then the smell of the wood fired oven hits you. Â The only thing that might make this the perfect concert experience if someone was smoking a joint right outside the bathroom.
But I digress...... Â The cover to the menu is the coolest cover I have ever seen (see posted picture). Â The menu is also huge. Â It took us 10 minutes to read through everything. Â Most items are named after a song or the likes and be able to take it all in you have to read. Â My first, first world problem was that there were too many choices that sounded out of this world delicious. Â We finally narrowed it down to 4, which was a task in itself. Â When the waitress returns to the table she explains that we can do half pizzas. Â So my problem is solved. Â We opted for the following (in order of preference):
Crazy Train: Pepperoni, hot Italian Sausage, peppered bacon, caramelized onions, garlic, oregano and hot cherry peppers. Â
Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy: Â Tomato sauce pizza, pepperoni, sweet sausage, peppered bacon, meatballs, ham and extra mozzarella.
Yellow Brick Road: Â Sliced ham, pepperoni, mozzarella.
The Founders Pie: Sweet Italian sausage, pepperoni, tomato sauce, mozzarella, and ricotta cheese.
Lots of the others sounded so good. Â And this would lead to my Second first world problem - how soon can I go back without looking like a pizza junky or I won't be able to fit into the new pants I just bought.
The service is fantabulous - From when you are greeted at the door to the time you leave. Â Everyone seemed to love being there and being at work. Â They make this dining experience about you want to make sure that you are happy and liked their pizza. Â I think if you took a chance and ordered a pizza and it wasn't exactly what you wanted that they would bring you a new different pizza - now I don't know this for a fact but I'm just guessing.
